The Tekamah-Herman Boys fell 60-58 to Elgin Public/Pope John in the first game of the Madison Holiday Tournament last Monday before winning Thursday's 3rd place game over the host Dragons, 70-52.
The Tigers jumped out to a 24-11 lead on the Dragons at the end of one. Both teams scored 16 2nd quarter points, and Tekamah-Herman held a 40-27 halftime advantage.
The Tigers won the 3rd quarter 16-11 to go up 56-38 at the end of three.
Both teams scored 14 points in the 4th quarter.
Definitely not the end result Tekamah-Herman was hoping for that's for sure.
The Tigers (3-6) host West Monona, IA Thursday night.
I don't know much of anything about West Monona.
I do know that Tekamah-Herman can win if they're on top of their game though.
The Tigers are much improved this year, and sometimes those first Holiday Tournament games out of the gate from the Moratorium are tough.
So now with an entire week to get in the gym and shoot and all that Tekamah-Herman should be raring and ready to go and roll.
I look for the Tigers to put forth a great effort and play a great game Thursday night.
Tekamah-Herman also has Clarkson/Leigh this Saturday if gets played so a couple of chances for wins at home this week for sure.
The Tekamah-Herman Girls lost 42-29 to Elgin Public/Pope John last Monday at the Madison Holiday Tournament before beating Riverside for 3rd place on Thursday, 51-25.
The Wolfpack led 11-6 after one. The Tigers won the 2nd quarter 9-5 to make it a 16-15 game at halftime.
EPPJ stretched the lead in the 3rd quarter, winning the frame 11-8 to go up 27-23 at the end of three.

The Tigers led 21-5 over the Chargers at the end of one. Tekamah-Herman won the 2nd quarter 8-7 to take a 29-12 lead into the locker room.
The Tigers won the 3rd quarter 10-8 to go up 39-20 at the end of three.
Tekamah-Herman outscored Riverside 12-5 in the 4th quarter.
Definitely disappointing not to win the Championship for a second year in a row.
The Tigers (3-6) host West Monona, IA Thursday night.
I don't know a whole lot about West Monona, but Tekamah-Herman has a challenge on their hands on Saturday when they face Clarkson/Leigh.
It's always a challenge no matter who you play, and so the Tigers have to get ready to play their best game Thursday night.
The two teams aren't very familiar with one another I'm sure so I'm not sure if that's an advantage one way or another.
It's not your typical matchup that's for sure, but it's a cool out of state matchup for sure.
Regardless of what happens on Thursday though Tekamah-Herman has their hands full on Saturday against the Patriots so the Tigers have to get ready to defend their home floor.
