West Point-Beemer Boys lose to Twin River and Wayne; Girls top Titans and Blue Devils

The West Point-Beemer Boys fell 50-48 at home to Twin River last Friday night before losing 33-30 at Wayne Thursday night.

The Cadets led 11-9 at the end of one on the Titans, and won the 2nd quarter 16-11 to take a 27-20 halftime lead.

Twin River won the 3rd quarter 13-10 to make it a 37-33 game at the end of three.

The Titans outscored West Point-Beemer 17-11 in the 4th quarter.

Two tough, narrow defeats for the Cadets.

West Point-Beemer (6-10) takes on Stanton (5-11) in the first round of the East Husker Conference Tournament Saturday afternoon from Leigh in action that can be heard on 107.9 the Bull.

The Mustangs were last in action last Tuesday as they downed Madison 61-38 at home.

You have to wonder how Stanton will come out not having played in what will be 11 days.

The Cadets were so close to wins in both games too so you know West Point-Beemer will come out hungry and ready for a win.

I totally expect the Cadets to win on Saturday.

West Point-Beemer won 48-30 at Stanton earlier this season, and I look for the Cadets to win again.

I feel both teams are playing better ball right now than they were at that time so those two things should offset.

Tip-off is scheduled for 3:00 p.m. on the Bull.

The West Point-Beemer Girls won 53-32 at home over Twin River last Thursday night before defeating Wayne 60-43 on the road Thursday night.

The Cadets went up 23-14 at the end of one on the Titans before winning the 2nd quarter 5-2 to take a 28-16 lead into the locker room.

West Point-Beemer won the 3rd quarter 13-9 to extend their lead to 41-25 at the end of three.

The Cadets outscored Twin River 12-7 in the 4th quarter.

Rachel Groth had 16 points and 9 rebounds while Sidney Swanson totaled 14 points and 7 rebounds. Jadyn Meiergerd added 11 points while Emily Toelle posted 9 rebounds.

West Point-Beemer went up 13-12 at the end of one on the Blue Devils. The Cadets won the 2nd quarter 15-10 to take a 28-22 lead into the locker room.

West Point-Beemer won the 3rd quarter 12-11 to increase their advantage to 40-33 at the end of three.

The Cadets doubled up Wayne 20-10 in the 4th quarter.

The wins weren't the most dominant West Point-Beemer has been this season, but they were wins nonetheless.

The Cadets (14-3) face Pender (14-5) in the East Husker Conference Tournament Quarterfinals at North Bend Monday night.

The Pendragons won 62-18 at home over Tekamah-Herman in the first round of the tournament Friday night in action aired on 107.9 the Bull.

Pender kind of ran away with things against the Tigers so to speak.

West Point-Beemer has to be on their game and on point in this one.

I know the Cadets want another crack at North Bend Central, but so do the Pendragons I'm sure.

West Point-Beemer has to pick things up and get back to playing the way they were prior to the Twin River game.

The Cadets have to be on top of their game and must bring their A game come Monday night.

West Point-Beemer has to bring and must play with a lot of intensity.

The Cadets have to play tough, tight in your face defense like Pender did against Tekamah-Herman.

West Point-Beemer will definitely be challenged in this game, and has to rise to the occasion like they have when needed all year long.

Tip-off is scheduled for 6:00 p.m. in North Bend.
