Howells-Dodge Boys and Girls win Mead Holiday Tournament

The Howells-Dodge Boys won the Mead Holiday Tournament, defeating Cornerstone Christian 84-22 last Monday and Mead 56-37 in last Wednesday's Championship Game.

The Jaguars jumped out to a 25-2 lead on the Cougars at the end of one, and outscored Cornerstone Christian 27-9 in the 2nd quarter to take a 52-11 lead into the locker room.

Howells-Dodge outscored the Cougars 17-3 in the 3rd quarter to extend their lead to 69-14 at the end of three.

The Jaguars won the 4th quarter 15-8.

Howells-Dodge jumped out to a 15-6 lead on the Raiders after one, and won the 2nd quarter 15-9 to go up 30-15 at halftime.

The Jaguars won the 3rd quarter 12-10 to increase their lead to 42-25 at the end of three.

Howells-Dodge won the 4th quarter 14-12.

Nothing like winning a championship if you are the Jaguars.

Howells-Dodge (6-4) plays host to Humphrey St. Francis (8-1) Friday night.

The Flyers lost 51-40 to Wynot in the West Point-Beemer Holiday Tournament Championship Game last Thursday.

Beating Humphrey St. Francis is no easy or small task, but I feel like this is the Jaguars' year to get the Flyers.

Reason being Howells-Dodge already beat BRLD this year and have played a tougher schedule than St. Francis.

The Jaguars have won 5 in a row and are rolling right now, and I look for Howells-Dodge to win once again Friday night.

Beating the Flyers is a monumental challenge and task, but I feel like the Jaguars are up to the task this year.

The Howells-Dodge Girls also won the Mead Holiday Tournament, beating Cornerstone Christian 64-22 last Monday and Mead 60-15 in last Wednesday's Championship Game.

The Jaguars got out to a 25-4 lead on the Cougars at the end of one. Howells-Dodge outscored Cornerstone Christian 12-4 in the 2nd quarter to go up 37-8 at halftime.

The Jaguars outscored the Cougars 17-6 in the 3rd quarter to extend their lead to 54-14 at the end of three.

Howells-Dodge won the 4th quarter 10-8.

Jaedyn Ratzlaff had 24 points while Sasha Perrin added 7.

The Jaguars jumped out to a 21-4 lead on the Raiders after one. Howells-Dodge outscored Mead 17-7 in the 2nd quarter to take a 38-11 lead into the locker room.

The Jaguars won the 3rd quarter 10-4 to go up 48-15 at the end of three.

Howells-Dodge blanked the Raiders 12-0 in the 4th quarter.

Raetzlaff had 17 points while Janessa Schmidt totaled 11. Brooklyn Macholan posted 7 rebounds.

The Cornerstone Christian win was the 400th career win for Head Coach Scott Polacek. Congrats Coach P!

The Jaguars (5-5) host Humphrey St. Francis (9-0) Friday night.

The Flyers won 71-46 at home over Norfolk Catholic Tuesday night.

St. Francis is legit, having beaten Crofton and West Point-Beemer.

That and they have Allison Weidner, who is a future Husker.

The Flyers are always great and legit though so who am I kidding.

With that said, Howells-Dodge has played some amazing teams and competition, and kept things close with some of them.

I feel like the Jaguars are playing their best basketball of the season right now so Howells-Dodge has to feel good about where they are at right now.
