Wisner-Pilger Boys and Girls lose to Howells-Dodge, beat Pender

The Wisner-Pilger Boys lost 67-44 at Howells-Dodge last Monday night before winning 56-50 at home over Pender Thursday night.

The Jaguars led the Gators 20-12 at the end of one before winning the 2nd quarter 11-6 to take a 31-18 lead into the locker room.

Howells-Dodge won the 3rd quarter 16-15 to go up 47-33 at the end of three.

The Jaguars outscored Wisner-Pilger 20-11 in the 4th quarter.

The Pendragons and Gators were tied at 9 at the end of one. Wisner-Pilger won the 2nd quarter 11-8 to take a 20-17 lead into the locker room.

The Gators won the 3rd quarter 17-14 to extend their lead to 37-31 at the end of three.

Both teams scored 19 points in the 4th quarter.

Tough loss on Monday, but a good response on Tuesday against Twin River, and then another win on Thursday.

Wisner-Pilger (7-9) travels to North Bend to take on the Tigers (10-3) Thursday night.

NBC lost 69-62 to Glenwood, IA in the Nebraska Prep Classic at Sokol Arena in Omaha on Saturday.

Prior to that, the Tigers were defeated 48-46 at home by Oakland-Craig Thursday night.

So you know that North Bend Central will be upset, angry, and motivated given what transpired for them the last two games.

The Gators have to play the way they did against Twin River and not the way they did against Howells-Dodge.

The Pender game wasn't bad, but I thought Wisner-Pilger could have been more dominant.

Either way a tough battle on their hands Thursday night for sure.

I think the thing to really focus on if you are the Gators is playing well and executing on both ends of the floor.

If Wisner-Pilger can turn in a strong performance, win or lose, it could go a long ways with the East Husker Conference Tournament coming up.

The Wisner-Pilger Girls lost 56-42 at Howells-Dodge last Monday night before upsetting Pender 40-36 at home Thursday night.

The Jaguars led the Gators 19-12 at the end of one, and outscored Wisner-Pilger 13-4 in the 2nd quarter to take a 32-16 lead into the locker room.

The Gators won the 3rd quarter 17-13 to make it a 45-33 game at the end of three.

Howells-Dodge won the 4th quarter 11-9.

The Pendragons doubled up the Gators 14-7 in the 1st quarter, and won the 2nd quarter 8-7 to take a 22-14 lead into the locker room.

Wisner-Pilger won the 3rd quarter 13-11 to make it a 33-27 game at the end of three.

The Gators outscored Pender 13-3 in the 4th quarter.

What a win for Wisner-Pilger on Thursday.

The Gators (7-9) travel to North Bend to take on the Tigers (12-1) Thursday night.

NBC won 56-39 at home over Oakland-Craig Thursday night.

The Gators have won three in a row and come into this one with a lot of confidence and momentum.

Pender upset North Bend Central 59-52 at home back on January 8th.

You can bet that is on the minds of the Wisner-Pilger players as they approach this one.

The Gators would love nothing more than to go into North Bend and upset the Tigers prior to the start of the East Husker Conference Tournament.

It's a lot to ask and a tall task, especially on the road, but I'm not sure many people gave Wisner-Pilger a chance against Pender.

So all I'm saying is anything can happen and that's why they play the games.
