BRLD Boys and Girls win Louisville Holiday Tournament, Girls beat Wayne

The BRLD Boys won the Louisville Holiday Tournament last week, knocking off Nebraska City 62-51 last Monday, and winning 66-63 over the host Lions in last Tuesday's Championship Game.

The Pioneers led the Wolverines 14-13 after one before BRLD won the 2nd quarter 10-8 to go up 23-22 at halftime.

The Wolverines won the 3rd quarter 16-15 to extend their lead to 39-37 at the end of three.

BRLD outscored Nebraska City 23-14 in the 4th quarter.

Dylan Beutler had a double-double of 23 points and 10 rebounds while Lucas Vogt had a double-double of his own with 11 points and 11 rebounds. Micah Henschen and Toriano Bohannon Jr. each had 9 points while Elliot Nottleman posted 8.

The Wolverines doubled up the Lions 16-8 in the 1st quarter. Louisville won the 2nd quarter 18-14 to make it a 30-26 game at halftime.

BRLD opened things up in the 3rd quarter, outscoring the Lions 23-10 to go up 53-36 at the end of three.

Louisville outscored the Wolverines 27-13 in the 4th quarter.

Beutler led the way with a double-double of 21 points and 12 rebounds while Nottleman and Zach Hegge posted 11 points apiece. Henschen added 10 while Vogt chipped in 8.

Had to feel good to win a Championship after having your 55-game winning streak snapped.

BRLD (5-1) takes on Elkhorn North (3-6) on the road Thursday night.

The Wolves lost 59-52 at home to Adams Central Tuesday night.

I don't know a whole lot about Elkhorn North being they're a new school and everything, but so far they've played a pretty tough schedule and done well so far considering it is their first year of competition.

This is a tremendous challenge for BRLD.

In previous years I think this was a game the Wolverines would win for sure.

And BRLD could very well win this game this year too, but I think their chances would of been higher going into things the last few years.

The Wolverines are still a very good and dangerous team though so a win is a definite possibility in this one.

BRLD has to go into Elkhorn North expecting to win and must compete at a high level.

The BRLD Girls also won the Louisville Holiday Tournament last week, rolling Nebraska City 58-34 last Monday before claiming a 53-37 win over the host Lions in last Tuesday's Championship Game. The Wolverines then routed Wayne 70-32 at home Monday night.

BRLD got out to a 16-7 lead on the Pioneers at the end of one. The Wolverines tripled up Nebraska City 18-6 in the 2nd quarter to take a 34-13 lead into the locker room.

The Pioneers won the 3rd quarter 13-10 to make it a 44-26 game at the end of three.

BRLD outscored Nebraska City 14-8 in the 4th quarter.

Jordan Snyder had a double-double of 20 points and 10 rebounds while Caragan Tietz was also in double figures with 15 points. Alyssa Buchholz chipped in 8.

The Lions went up 14-9 after one. The Wolverines doubled up Nebraska City 18-9 in the 2nd quarter to take a 27-23 lead into the locker room.

BRLD outscored the Pioneers 12-5 in the 3rd quarter to go up 39-28 at the end of three.

The Wolverines won the 4th quarter 14-9.

Tietz led the way with 21 points and 8 rebounds while McKenzie Murphy chipped in 11 points. Buchholz notched 7 rebounds.

BRLD went up 24-4 on the Blue Devils after one, and outscored Wayne 22-12 in the 2nd quarter to take a 46-16 lead into the locker room.

The Wolverines outscored the Blue Devils 21-12 in the 3rd quarter to extend their lead to 67-28 at the end of three.

Wayne won the 4th quarter 4-3.

Tietz led all scorers with 19 points while Buchholz and Snyder registered 14 apiece. Aubrey Berg and Isabel Freemont recorded 9 each.

Dominant win and play from BRLD.

The Wolverines (7-2) travel to Elkhorn to battle Elkhorn North (10-0) on the road Thursday night.

The Wolves won 75-45 at Ashland-Greenwood Tuesday night.

I don't know a ton about Elkhorn North being a new school and everything, but they are 10-0 and own a 20-point win over Wahoo if that tells you anything.

BRLD is even stronger than they were last year though, in my opinion.

Main reason is because of their defense.

The Wolverines have committed themselves to that end of the floor.

BRLD has always been able to score, but now they are a complete team being able to play top notch defense.

This is a tremendous challenge the Wolverines are facing though.

BRLD is facing a Class B School so things will certainly be different from a competition standpoint in a way I feel.

The Wolverines can definitely win, but they have to play a great game and must step things up in order to be successful.
