Clarkson/Leigh Boys beat Tekamah-Herman; Girls beat East Butler and Tekamah-Herman

The Clarkson/Leigh Boys won 55-35 at Tekamah-Herman on Saturday.

The Patriots got up 10-3 after one, and won the 2nd quarter 13-9 to take a 23-12 lead into the locker room.

Clarkson/Leigh won the 3rd quarter 15-11 to increase the lead to 38-23 at the end of three.

The Patriots won the 4th quarter 17-12.

Kyle Kasik and Trevor Zulkoski each had 11 points while Lance Paprocki totaled 10. Eli Hays added 9 points and 8 rebounds while Mason Whitmore registered 8 points. Carter Hanel added 9 rebounds.

Solid win for Clarkson/Leigh.

The Patriots (5-5) travel to Pender (1-11) on Saturday.

The Pendragons fell 52-45 at home to Omaha Nation Thursday night.

Pender's biggest issue has been finishing games.

The Pendragons are right there and play well for 3 quarters, and then lose at the end.

And in knowing that Clarkson/Leigh has to take advantage and put forth their best effort for 4 quarters.

The Class C-2, No. 1 Clarkson/Leigh Girls won 68-33 at home over East Butler last Friday night before rolling to a 59-29 win at Tekamah-Herman on Saturday.

Clarkson/Leigh led East Butler 19-10 at the end of one, and outscored them 22-4 in the 2nd quarter to take a 41-14 lead into the locker room.

The Patriots outscored East Butler 19-11 in the 3rd quarter to increase their lead to 60-25 at the end of three.

Both teams scored 8 points in the 4th quarter.

Chloe Hanel led the way with 24 points while Alissa Kasik added 14. Kayden Schumacher notched a double-double of 13 points and 14 rebounds while Kennedy Settje chipped in 8 points.

The Patriots jumped out to a 20-9 lead at the end of one on Tekamah-Herman, and outscored them 21-3 in the 2nd quarter to take a 41-12 lead into the locker room.

Clarkson/Leigh won the 3rd quarter 13-9 to go up 54-21 at the end of three.

The Tigers won the 4th quarter 8-5.

Hanel had 14 points while Schumacher totaled 12 points and 7 rebounds. Settje added 11 points while Kasik scored 10. Korbee Wendt compiled 8 rebounds.

Two very nice wins for the Patriots.

Clarkson/Leigh (13-0) travels to Pender to take on the Pendragons (12-3) on Saturday.

Pender defeated Omaha Nation 66-18 at home Thursday night.

The Pendragons have already knocked off one No. 1 when they upset North Bend Central at home last Friday.

The Patriots have to be wary of that and have to come play a great game on Saturday.

Clarkson/Leigh can't let Pender's win over North Bend get in their head though.

The Patriots have to come out and play their game and do what they do and execute.

Clarkson/Leigh has to play the same way they have each and every game they've played so far this season.

The Patriots can't get away from doing what they do best, which is play outstanding defense.
