Wisner-Pilger Boys 1-2 in last three games; Girls 2-2 in last four

The Wisner-Pilger Boys lost 58-55 to Ponca in Overtime in their own Holiday Tournament last Monday before winning 57-51 over Neligh-Oakdale in last Wednesday's Consolation Game. The Gators then fell 54-50 at home to Arlington Tuesday night.

Wisner-Pilger led the Indians 16-14 after one. Ponca won the 2nd quarter 15-10 to go up 29-26 at halftime.

The Gators outscored the Indians 13-9 in the 3rd quarter to pull back in front 39-38 at the end of three.

Ponca won the 4th quarter 12-11 to tie the game at 50 and send it into OT.

The Indians outlasted Wisner-Pilger 8-5 in the extra session.

The Warriors got out to a 19-17 lead on the Gators after one. Wisner-Pilger outscored Neligh-Oakdale 22-7 in the 2nd quarter to build a 39-26 halftime lead.

The Warriors outscored the Gators 17-8 in the 3rd quarter to go make it a 47-43 game at the end of three.

Wisner-Pilger won the 4th quarter 10-8.

The Eagles led 14-12 after one and won the 2nd quarter 14-10 to take a 28-22 lead into the locker room.

The Gators won the 3rd quarter 16-13 to make it a 41-38 game at the end of three.

Arlington won the 4th quarter 13-12.

A couple of tough, heartbreaking losses for Wisner-Pilger.

The Gators (4-5) host West Point-Beemer (3-6) Friday night.

The Cadets won 63-57 at Fort Calhoun on Saturday.

Prior to Christmas it looked like there was a good chance that Wisner-Pilger would win this one no problem.

But I'm not so sure now given what West Point-Beemer has done in their last two games.

I think this one simply comes down to scoring.

If the Gators can bog down the Cadets' offense they will most likely win.

But if West Point-Beemer gets in the 50's and 60's then Wisner-Pilger could be in trouble.

I could definitely see the Gators losing another close ball game in this one.

It should be a heck of a game regardless of the outcome though.

The Wisner-Pilger Girls are showing signs of improvement as the Gators beat Neligh-Oakdale 50-39 in their own Holiday Tournament last Wednesday in the Consolation Game after losing 61-31 to Ponca in the first game last Monday. The Gators then lost a tough 46-45 decision at home to Arlington Tuesday night before winning 69-19 at Madison Thursday night.

The Indians got out to a 24-9 lead on Wisner-Pilger at the end of one. Ponca outscored the Gators 17-7 in the 2nd quarter to take a 41-16 lead into the locker room.

The Indians outscored Wisner-Pilger 15-6 in the 3rd quarter to go up 56-22 at the end of three.

The Gators won the 4th quarter 9-5.

Wisner-Pilger led the Warriors 9-6 after one, and won the 2nd quarter 13-9 to take a 22-15 lead into the locker room.

The Gators won the 3rd quarter 15-10 to extend their lead to 37-25 at the end of three.

Neligh-Oakdale won the 4th quarter 14-13.

The Eagles led 7-6 after one. Wisner-Pilger won the 2nd quarter 14-12 to take a 20-19 lead into the locker room.

The Gators outscored Arlington 16-10 in the 3rd quarter to extend their lead to 36-29 at the end of three.

The Eagles outscored Wisner-Pilger 17-9 in the 4th quarter to steal the game at the end.

A tough defeat on Tuesday, but a lopsided win over Madison.

The Gators (4-6) host West Point-Beemer (6-3) Friday night.

The Cadets routed Fort Calhoun 63-21 on the road Saturday.

This could very well be another 30-point loss for Wisner-Pilger.

Perhaps not though, perhaps the game will be closer than some might think.

I guess we will see how much the Gators have improved at least in their last few games.

It will be interesting to see what happens that is for sure.

West Point-Beemer beat Arlington by 18 points in the season opener so perhaps Wisner-Pilger can keep it to under a 20-point loss.

That would still be a lopsided defeat, but would be better than losing by 30 like the Gators did to Ponca.
