BRLD Boys 3-0 in last three games; Girls 1-2

The BRLD Boys Basketball Team beat Humphrey/Lindsay Holy Family 74-52 at home Friday night before winning 65-30 at Stanton on Saturday, and 70-43 at home over Winnebago Tuesday night.

The Wolverines got up on the Bulldogs 14-5 at the end of one, and won the 2nd quarter 20-18 to take a 34-23 lead into the locker room.

BRLD outscored H/LHF 22-14 in the 3rd quarter to increase their lead to 56-37 at the end of three.

The Wolverines won the 4th quarter 18-15.

Jaxon Johnson had 24 points and 7 rebounds while Darwin Snyder notched 24 points. Dylan Beutler added 13 points while Brayden Anderson had 7. Lucas Vogt contributed 14 assists and 8 rebounds while Will Gatzemeyer compiled 7 assists.

The Wolverines got out to a 23-4 lead on the Mustangs at the end of one. BRLD outscored Stanton 16-7 in the 2nd quarter to take a 39-11 lead into the locker room.

The Wolverines outscored the Mustangs 15-7 in the 3rd quarter to extend their lead to 54-18 at the end of three.

Stanton won the 4th quarter 12-11.

Vogt had 12 points and 8 assists while Beutler added 12 points. Anderson contributed 11 points while Gatzemeyer chipped in 10.

The game with Winnebago was tied at 14 at the end of one. The Indians won the 2nd quarter 12-7 to take a 26-21 lead into the locker room.

The Wolverines outscored the Indians 23-4 in the 3rd quarter to extend their lead to go up 44-30 at the end of three.

BRLD doubled up Winnebago 26-13 in the 4th quarter.

Beutler had a double-double of 27 points and 11 rebounds while Gatzemeyer and Vogt pitched in 15 and 13 points, respectively. Johnson posted 17 rebounds.

The amazing play continues for the Wolverines.

BRLD (16-0) is off until Tuesday when they'll play either Howells-Dodge (10-6) or Clarkson/Leigh (5-10) in the East Husker Conference Tournament Quarterfinals.

The Wolverines should beat either team.

BRLD figures to have a great chance to win this tournament.

The Wolverines should be favored this year you would think.

BRLD won it last year so we'll see if the Wolverines can repeat this year.

I think North Bend Central is BRLD's biggest and toughest threat in this tournament.

A potential game with Oakland-Craig or Logan View/Scribner-Snyder would be no small task either though.

Still, you have to like the Wolverines' chances in this tournament based on how they have played all season.

BRLD should be able to beat either Howells-Dodge or Clarkson/Leigh pretty good I would think.

After all, the Wolverines already own wins over both teams.

BRLD only beat the Jaguars by 10 in the first matchup, and Howells-Dodge has given the Wolverines' fits the last couple of years so a win on Tuesday is not necessarily a gimme if BRLD gets the Jaguars.

The Wolverines have been playing off the charts lately though, and are only getting better.

BRLD may lose one game at most this year otherwise I would anticipate the Wolverines winning the rest of their games on the way to back-to-back State Championships.

BRLD has to stay focused and must keep their eye on the prize though.

Every team will be gunning for the Wolverines, and North Bend Central is a very good team.

BRLD could get upset by someone if they aren't on top of their game so it's key for the Wolverines to be on top of their game at all times.

So far so good for BRLD though so the Wolverines shouldn't change a thing.

BRLD can sit back and wait for teams to come to them.

The BRLD Girls lost 74-71 at home to Humphrey/Lindsay Holy Family Friday night before winning 62-29 at Stanton on Saturday, and then falling 71-70 at home to Winnebago Tuesday night.

The Bulldogs led 17-15 after one. The Wolverines won the 2nd quarter 23-21 to tie the game at 38 at halftime.

Both teams scored 14 points in the 3rd quarter, and the score after three was 52-all.

H/LHF won the 4th quarter 22-19.

Isabel Freemont had a game-high 25 points while Caragan Tietz added 22 points and 7 rebounds. Kailynn Lovejoy notched 18 points while Kelsey Larsen posted 7 rebounds.

The Wolverines jumped out to a 9-2 advantage on Stanton at the end of one. BRLD outscored the Mustangs 20-6 in the 2nd quarter to take a 29-8 lead into the locker room.

The Wolverines won the 3rd quarter 17-10 to increase their advantage to 46-18 at the end of three.

BRLD won the 4th quarter 16-11.

Jordan Snyder had 16 points and 8 rebounds while Freemont, Tietz, Aubrey Berg, and Alyssa Buchholz tallied 8 points apiece.

Winnebago led the Wolverines 21-20 at the end of one, and won the 2nd quarter 15-14 to take a 36-34 lead into the locker room.

BRLD outscored the Indians 17-8 in the 3rd quarter to pull in front 51-44 at the end of three.

Winnebago outscored the Wolverines 27-19 in the 4th quarter.

A couple of big heartbreaking losses for BRLD.

The Wolverines (15-3) host Twin River (4-14) in the first round of the East Husker Conference Tournament Friday night.

The Titans won 52-48 at Stanton Tuesday night.

Based on how both teams did against the Mustangs, BRLD should roll in this one.

I look for the Wolverines to come out angry and furious after Tuesday night's loss, and take their frustrations out on the Titans.

It should be a big win for BRLD.

It will be interesting to see what happens if the Wolverines rematch with West Point-Beemer in Monday's Quarterfinals at Oakland-Craig.

BRLD beat the Cadets by 34 earlier in the year, but West Point-Beemer had played a lot of games leading up to that game and wasn't playing nearly as good then as they are now.

That coupled with the fat the Wolverines have struggled on defense ever since losing to Oakland-Craig and it makes for an interesting possible scenario.

I think BRLD could definitely beat the Cadets again if they played a second time on Monday, but I feel it would be more difficult this time around, especially when you throw GACC transfer Reece Snodgrass into the mix for West Point-Beemer.

It will be interesting to see what happens, but I'm sure the Wolverines would love another shot at the Knights in the Semifinals.

West Point-Beemer is a strong defensive team, and their offense is coming around too.

It will be interesting to see how the Cadets matchup against BRLD this time around.

The Wolverines haven't been a good matchup for West Point-Beemer the last couple of years so we'll see what happens if the two teams play again on Monday.

Of course this is all circumstantial as a matchup between these two isn't official.

It's likely to happen, but you never know.

BRLD has to go out there and play great against Twin River, and take all their frustrations of losing to the Indians out on the Titans.

Logan View/Scribner-Snyder Boys 3-0 in last three games; Girls 1-2

The Logan View/Scribner-Snyder Boys Basketball Team won 43-25 at home over Raymond Central Friday night, 46-32 at West Point-Beemer on Saturday, and 53-32 at home over Howells-Dodge Tuesday night in action aired on 107.9 the Bull.

The Raiders quadrupled up the Mustangs 12-3 in the 1st quarter, and outscored them 12-5 in the 2nd quarter to take a 24-8 lead into the locker room.

Raymond Central won the 3rd quarter 11-8 to make it a 32-19 game at the end of three.

LVSS won the 4th quarter 11-6.

Connor Larson totaled 17 points while Trystain Roseberry notched 8.

The Raiders led the Cadets 11-9 at the end of one, and won the 2nd quarter 16-11 to take a 27-20 lead into the locker room.

LVSS won the 3rd quarter 9-5 to extend their lead to 36-25 at the end of three.

The Raiders took the 4th quarter 10-7.

Larson and Riley Hoetfelker had 17 points apiece to lead Logan View/Scribner-Snyder.

The Raiders started the Howells-Dodge game on a 12-0 run and led 16-5 at the end of one.

Logan View/Scribner-Snyder outscored the Jaguars 10-3 in the 2nd quarter to take a 26-8 lead in the locker room, a quarter highlighted by a buzzer beating three from Brett Uhing.

The Raiders kept it going in the 2nd half, winning the 3rd quarter 13-8 following a layup at the buzzer by Connor Larson to go up 39-16 at the end of three.

Howells-Dodge won the 4th quarter 16-14.

Hoetfelker paced LVSS with 14 points while Uhing was also in double figures with 11. Larson and Garrett Kriete tallied 9 apiece. "Yeah if we can get four guys almost in double figures that makes us real tough cause we're going to try guarding you. We're going to play our zone and really get after it and do a good job of rebounding," Head Coach Sean Forbes said.

Great win for the Raiders on Tuesday heading into the East Husker Conference Tournament.

Logan View/Scribner-Snyder (13-4) battles Stanton (3-14) in the first round of the Tournament at Oakland-Craig on Saturday.

The Mustangs lost 70-43 at home to Twin River Tuesday night.

LVSS beat Stanton 48-31 in Stanton on Saturday, January 11th.

I look for the Raiders to knock off the Mustangs once more on Saturday.

Logan View/Scribner-Snyder is rolling right now, and is going to be very difficult to beat.

The Raiders have won 4 in a row and 6 out of their last 7 and are hot at the right time.

It's possible that LVSS could play Oakland-Craig again in the East Husker Conference Tournament Quarterfinals at BRLD Tuesday night.

The Raiders have to take care of business against Stanton first though, and the Knights have to beat Tekamah-Herman.

Still though it should be a great game if it happens.

I was really impressed with how Logan View/Scribner-Snyder controlled pace and tempo of the game with the Jaguars the other night.

The Raiders were very patient and methodical with their offense.

LVSS didn't rush shots or settle for jumpers, they worked the ball around until they found the shot they wanted.

That's the sign of a well disciplined and hard working team.

The Raiders have to keep it up and play the way they did on Tuesday throughout this tournament.

Tuesday's game is a blueprint of how Logan View/Scribner-Snyder has to play the rest of the season.

If the Raiders keep playing like that they are going to be awfully tough to beat and could even make state.

LVSS has to embrace the challenges of this Conference Tournament like they've embraced and passed a lot of challenges against many of the conference foes already so far in the regular season.

Tip-off is set for 6:00 p.m. in Oakland.

The Logan View/Scribner-Snyder Girls won 40-24 at home over Raymond Central Friday night before losing 60-28 at West Point-Beemer on Saturday, and 54-47 at home to Howells-Dodge in action aired on 107.9 the Bull Tuesday night.

The Mustangs led the Raiders 7-6 at the end of one. LVSS outscored Raymond Central 11-5 in the 2nd quarter to take a 17-12 lead into the locker room.

The Raiders outscored the Mustangs 14-8 in the 3rd quarter to extend their lead to 31-20 at the end of three.

Logan View/Scribner-Snyder won the 4th quarter 9-4.

Josie Kahlandt had 14 points while Valerie Uehling totaled 13. Grace Schlueter added 8 points and 10 rebounds while Maelee Beacom also had 10 rebounds. Cailey Stout added 7 boards.

The Cadets led the Raiders 19-7 at the end of one, and won the 2nd quarter 13-6 to take a 32-13 lead into the locker room.

West Point-Beemer outscored Logan View/Scribner-Snyder 19-4 in the 3rd quarter to extend their lead to 51-17 at the end of three.

LVSS won the 4th quarter 11-9.

Beacom had a team-high 9 points.

LVSS went up 8-5 in the 1st quarter on the Jaguars before Howells-Dodge outscored them 10-4 the rest of the period to lead 15-12 at the end of one.

Both teams scored 7 points in the 2nd quarter, and the Jaguars led 22-19 at halftime.

In the 3rd quarter, the Raiders won it 18-15 to tie the game at 37 at the end of three.

Howells-Dodge saved their best for last though, outscoring Logan View/Scribner-Snyder 17-10 in the 4th quarter.

Head Coach Nick Hegge on the loss. "Yeah real proud of the girls' effort tonight. We battled the whole way. We got off to an OK start and down by a few at halftime. And going into that 3rd quarter we wanted to figure out a way to get a lead, and had it tied up late and just came up a little short tonight. But I'm proud of the girls' effort, and I thought that we really got after it, and played a solid game for 3 quarters. And we just got to find a way to finish it off."

Kahlandt had a team-high 18 points and 7 rebounds for the Raiders while Beacom added 10 points and Valerie Uehling 9. "Yeah Josie, Maelee, and Val are real good players, real good scorers, and they all had good nights tonight. And Josie got hot there in the 3rd quarter, they went zone there for a little bit, and boy she's a great shooter. So she really made them hurt. And it was great to see her be aggressive and take the ball to the basket and get to the free throw line. And Josie really played great tonight," Hegge said.

Schlueter posted 9 rebounds.

Great games and effort on Friday and Tuesday.

LVSS (4-13) rematches with West Point-Beemer (15-4) in the first round of the East Husker Conference Tournament at BRLD Friday night.

The Cadets won 54-34 over Wayne at home Thursday night.

West Point-Beemer is on a roll right now having won 7 in a row and 10 out of their last 11.

The Cadets are certainly peaking at the right time, and are now at full strength as GACC transfer Reece Snodgrass is now eligible to play.

So the Raiders certainly have their hands full Friday night, but if Logan View/Scribner-Snyder turns in another inspired effort I think they've got a chance to do well.

The Raiders played tough on Tuesday and Friday, and if LVSS can play that way again on Friday the game could be closer than Saturday's game was.

Saturday was a tough loss for the Raiders.

Hopefully Logan View/Scribner-Snyder learned from it and plays West Point-Beemer tougher this time around.

I think it was evident in their play Tuesday night that they put the loss in the rearview mirror.

I was really impressed with the Raiders' early ball movement against the Jaguars.

I thought LVSS played as well as they have all season long for 3 quarters, and nearly won the game.

The Raiders certainly played well enough for 3 quarters to win, but ultimately couldn't finish the way they were hoping.

Logan View/Scribner-Snyder has to be upset minded Friday night though.

I'm sure not many people are giving the Raiders a chance on Friday, but that is why they play the games.

Games are not played on paper for a reason.

LVSS has to play a lot better than they did on Saturday though if they hope to have any shot of pulling the upset.

The Cadets are playing very good basketball right now so it will be very difficult to beat them for sure.

Stanton Boys and Girls lose to BRLD and Twin River

The Stanton Boys Basketball Team lost 65-30 at home to BRLD on Saturday and 70-43 at home to Twin River Tuesday night.

TJ Larson had 8 points and 10 rebounds.

The Titans doubled up the Mustangs 18-9 in the 1st quarter. Twin River outscored Stanton 21-13 in the 2nd quarter to take a 39-22 lead into the locker room.

The Titans won the 3rd quarter 16-11 to increase their lead to 55-33 at the end of three.

Twin River won the 4th quarter 15-10.

Larson had 15 points while Parker Krusemark totaled 10 points and 8 rebounds. Mason Bruggeman added 9 points while Ian Schulzkump notched 7.

A couple of tough losses for Stanton, but the Mustangs did some nice things offensively against the Titans.

Stanton (3-14) takes on Logan View/Scribner-Snyder (13-4) in the first round of the East Husker Conference Tournament at Oakland-Craig Saturday night.

The Raiders defeated Howells-Dodge 53-32 at home Tuesday night in action aired on 107.9 the Bull.

LVSS beat the Mustangs 48-31 in Stanton on Saturday, January 11th.

Stanton gave the Raiders a tough battle the first time around, and if the Mustangs can play the way they did on offense against Twin River and play solid defense, they may be able to pull a shocking upset.

Logan View/Scribner-Snyder likes to slow things down and play a halfcourt game, which is also Stanton's MO.

It's the East Husker Conference Tournament, and anything can happen.

The Mustangs have to crank things up with it getting to be towards the end of the season.

Not much time is left in the season for Stanton to get things headed in the right direction.

The Mustangs have to do everything they can to play well and make a run in this tournament.

The Raiders are a very good team though, and beating them will be no small task whatsoever.

It is asking a lot out of Stanton too, but you play to win the game.

The Mustangs can't come into this one conceding defeat or thinking LVSS has the game won.

The Raiders routed the Jaguars the other night, and I don't think anyone saw that one coming.

So my point is you just really don't know how a particular game is going to go or turn out.

You may think or have a good idea of how things are going to go, but you don't really know for sure.

It just goes to show that anything can happen, and teams have to be ready to go night in and night out.

Stanton has to be ready to rock and roll and do great things Saturday night.

The Mustangs have to be upset minded and have nothing but positive thoughts during and heading into this one.

Tip-off is set for 6:00 p.m. in Oakland.

The Stanton Girls fell 62-29 at home to BRLD Saturday night, and 52-48 at home to Twin River Tuesday night.

The Wolverines jumped out to a 9-2 advantage at the end of one.

Kinley Pohlman had 8 points while Sylvia Cunningham notched 7 rebounds.

The Mustangs led the Titans 9-8 at the end of one, and won the 2nd quarter 10-9 to take a 19-17 lead into the locker room.

Twin River won the 3rd quarter 14-13 to make it a 32-31 game at the end of three.

The Titans outscored Stanton 21-16 in the 4th quarter.

Cunningham had 16 points and 8 rebounds while Emma Hansen and Marissa Remm totaled 8 and 7 points, respectively.

Two difficult defeats for the Mustangs.

Stanton (5-12) takes on Clarkson/Leigh (13-4) in Clarkson Friday night in the first round of the East Husker Conference Tournament.

The Patriots won 49-39 at home over Wisner-Pilger Tuesday night.

The Mustangs have lost two in a row while Clarkson/Leigh has won three straight and 11 out of their last 12.

Certainly you would think the Patriots have the advantage heading into this one.

Stanton has to find a way to bounce back and rebound from the two tough losses on Saturday and Tuesday.

The Mustangs have to go out there and give it their all and their best shot.

I don't think Stanton played their best basketball on Tuesday.

I feel the Mustangs can and will be better against Clarkson/Leigh.

I look for Stanton to come out and play hard and put up a fight.

The Patriots beat Wisner-Pilger by 10 while the Mustangs beat the Gators by 3 so this one could be close.

Clarkson/Leigh also beat Twin River by 33 though.

It's really all about matchups, and I feel Stanton matches up well with the Patriots.

Clarkson/Leigh got the Mustangs in the Conference Tournament last year though, and will look to do it again.

Last year was last year though, and Stanton has to come out and play an amazing game Friday night.

The Mustangs have to find that extra gear and kick things into high gear.

Stanton has to find a way to get back to the way they were playing prior to the loss to the Wolverines.

I feel the Mustangs took a step back with the loss to Twin River.

We'll see what Stanton has and what they can do Friday night.

I think the game has a chance to be close or it could be a blowout.

Clarkson/Leigh Boys 0-3 in last three games; Girls 3-0

The Clarkson/Leigh Boys Basketball Team fell 58-50 at home to Twin River last Thursday night before falling 56-31 at Lutheran High Northeast Friday night, and 72-38 at home to Wisner-Pilger Tuesday night.

The Patriots got out to a 9-7 lead on the Titans at the end of one, and won the 2nd quarter 16-14 to take a 25-21 lead into the locker room.

Clarkson/Leigh won the 3rd quarter 12-11 to extend their lead to 37-32 at the end of three.

Twin River doubled up the Patriots 26-13 in the 4th quarter.

Jarred Novotny had 25 points while Lance Paprocki notched 11. Carter Hanel added 9 rebounds.

The Eagles led 16-15 after one, and won the 2nd quarter 11-9 to go up 27-24 at halftime.

LHNE won the 2nd quarter 8-3 to extend their lead to 35-27 at the end of three.

The Eagles outscored the Patriots 21-4 in the 4th quarter.

Paprocki had a team-high 9 points while Hanel pulled down 9 rebounds.

The Gators got out to a 22-4 lead on Clarkson/Leigh at the end of one, and doubled up the Patriots 20-10 in the 2nd quarter to take a 42-14 lead into the locker room.

Wisner-Pilger won the 3rd quarter 13-10 to increase their advantage to 55-24 at the end of three.

The Gators won the 4th quarter 17-14.

Novotny had 9 points while Paprocki totaled 8. Hanel once again pulled down 9 rebounds.

The 4th quarter was very unkind to Clarkson/Leigh on Thursday and Friday.

The Patriots (5-10) take on Howells-Dodge (10-6) at Wisner-Pilger on Saturday in the first round of the East Husker Conference Tournament.

The Jaguars lost 53-32 at Logan View/Scribner-Snyder Tuesday night in action that was aired on 107.9 the Bull.

The two teams met on Saturday, December 21st at Howells-Dodge with the Jaguars winning 77-61.

I look for this game to be close and come down to the wire.

I feel the contest could definitely come down to the 4th quarter for Clarkson/Leigh once again.

The Patriots struggled to finish against both the Titans and Eagles so I'm sure they would love to win this one on Saturday.

The game is against a rival and it's the East Husker Conference Tournament.

Howells-Dodge really struggled through 3 quarters against the Raiders, an if Clarkson/Leigh can build a big enough lead in the first 24 minutes of play it might be enough.

The Jaguars played a good 4th quarter against LVSS so that's something the Patriots have to be wary of.

The game is scheduled to start at 7:00 p.m. due to wrestling at Wisner-Pilger earlier in the day.

It makes for a long day and night, but Clarkson/Leigh has to go out there and be ready to play a great game for 4 quarters.

Hanel has to get back to his ways offensively, and continue to be a beast on the boards.

The Patriots just have to find that extra gear late in games that teams have been finding against them lately.

Clarkson/Leigh has to get off to a good start and finish strong.

I feel those two things are the key to a Patriot win.

Clarkson/Leigh has to go out there and play their game and put forth a great and fantastic effort on Saturday.

The Patriots have it in them to go out there and beat the Jaguars they just have to simply make it happen.

The Clarkson/Leigh Girls won 58-25 at home over Twin River last Thursday night before downing Lutheran High Northeast 50-45 on the road Friday night, and Wisner-Pilger 49-39 at home Tuesday night.

The Patriots got out to a 15-3 lead on the Titans at the end of one, and outscored Twin River 16-7 in the 2nd quarter to take a 31-10 lead into the locker room.

Clarkson/Leigh won the 3rd quarter 11-9 to extend their lead to 42-19 at the end of three.

The Patriots outscored the Titans 16-6 in the 4th quarter.

Cassidy Hoffman had 13 points and 9 rebounds while Kayden Schumacher totaled 11 points and 7 rebounds. Kennedy Settje added 9 points while Bailey Lemburg posted 7. Ashlynn Novotny compiled 9 rebounds.

The Eagles raced out to an 18-10 lead on Clarkson/Leigh at the end of one. The Patriots outscored LHNE 14-8 in the 2nd quarter to make it a 26-24 game at halftime.

Clarkson/Leigh won the 3rd quarter 9-8 to cut the deficit to 1 at 34-33 at the end of three.

The Patriots outscored the Eagles 17-11 in the 4th quarter.

Schumacher led the way with 16 points while Hoffman totaled 12 points and 7 rebounds. Settje added 9 points.

The Patriots led Wisner-Pilger 13-12 at the end of one, and won the 2nd quarter 14-12 to take a 27-24 lead into the locker room.

Clarkson/Leigh outscored the Gators 12-5 in the 3rd quarter to extend their lead to 39-29 at the end of three.

Both teams scored 10 points in the 4th quarter.

Hoffman had 13 points while Novotny notched 12 and Settje 10.

Pretty good play overall from the Patriots in these contests.

Clarkson/Leigh (13-4) plays host to Stanton (5-12) in the first round of the East Husker Conference Tournament Friday night.

The Mustangs lost 52-48 at home to Twin River Tuesday night.

The Patriots beat Stanton in last year's Conference Tournament, and I look for Clarkson/Leigh to do it once again this year.

The Mustangs had been playing better basketball prior to Saturday's loss to BRLD.

A loss to the Titans has to be a tough pill to swallow.

Stanton will come out and give the Patriots their best shot though, that much you can pretty much count on.

Clarkson/Leigh has to be ready to go because as the Patriots found out against Pender, no lead is safe and anyone can be beat.

Clarkson/Leigh should win, but there's not a huge margin for error for the Patriots.

I think this game could be closer than some might think it will be, but I could also see Clarkson/Leigh rolling in this one.

The Patriots haven't been a super dominant team this year, but they have been consistent and rock solid.

Clarkson/Leigh isn't the most flashy team out there, but they simply know how to win and get the job done.

I look for the Patriots to play another good game Friday night and turn in an outstanding performance.

A win over Stanton would give Clarkson/Leigh a matchup at North Bend Central on Monday.

The Tigers would be very difficult for the Patriots to beat as I feel Clarkson/Leigh could have a tough time matching up against NBC's height, but I do feel those teams matchup well from a style of play standpoint, much like Stanton and Clarkson/Leigh.

First things first though, the Patriots have to worry about taking care of business against the Mustangs.

Tekamah-Herman Boys lose to Howells-Dodge; Girls fall to Jaguars and Omaha Mercy

The Tekamah-Herman Boys Basketball Team lost 85-58 at home to Howells-Dodge Friday night.

The Jaguars led the Tigers 24-10 after one, and won the 2nd quarter 25-20 to take a 49-30 lead into the locker room.

Howells-Dodge outscored Tekamah-Herman 22-9 in the 3rd quarter to go up 71-39 at the end of three.

The Tigers won the 4th quarter 19-14.

Another tough loss for Tekamah-Herman.

The Tigers (4-12) battle Oakland-Craig (13-6) in the first round of the East Husker Conference Tournament in Oakland Saturday night.

The Knights fell 58-46 at Humphrey/Lindsay Holy Family Tuesday night.

The two teams met last Tuesday in Oakland with the Knights winning 69-54.

That was a real encouraging game for Tekamah-Herman though, and something that has to give the Tigers hope and confidence heading into this one.

Tekamah-Herman has to repeat the things they did in that tournament, and play even better come Saturday night.

These two are rivals, and anything can happen.

Oakland-Craig has lost three in a row and four out of their last five while the Tigers have dropped three in a row and six out of their last seven.

The Knights have lost to some really good teams though so we'll see what Tekamah-Herman has for them on Saturday.

I think having the entire week to practice and prepare really helps the Tigers.

Oakland-Craig had to focus on the Bulldogs early in the week, and will only have had a few days to get ready for round two with Tekamah-Herman.

The Tigers are having an improved season and need to keep battling and fighting hard.

Tekamah-Herman needs to look to make a run in this tournament, and be the surprise of the tourney and talk of the town.

Might be much easier said than done, but the potential lies there for the Tigers to do something.

Tekamah-Herman has to go into this game ready for a full 32-minute game and heavyweight bout.

The Tigers have to be ready to battle for an entire 4 quarters against the Knights.

Oakland-Craig is going to go very hard for 32 minutes that you can almost guarantee so Tekamah-Herman has to be ready to put forth an amazing effort as well.

The game will be after the Logan View/Scribner-Snyder vs. Stanton game at 6:00 p.m.

The Tekamah-Herman Girls Basketball Team fell 52-45 at home to Howells-Dodge Friday night before losing 42-25 at Omaha Mercy Tuesday night.

The Tigers led the Jaguars 15-11 at the end of one. Howells-Dodge won the 2nd quarter 16-7 to go up 27-22 at halftime.

Both teams scored 9 points in the 3rd quarter, and the score was 36-31 at the end of three in favor of the Jaguars.

Howells-Dodge won the 4th quarter 16-14.

The Monarchs led 13-7 after one, and won the 2nd quarter 9-6 to take a 22-13 lead into the locker room.

Omaha Mercy won the 3rd quarter 10-6 to extend their lead to 32-19 at the end of three.

The Monarchs outscored the Tigers 10-6 in the 4th quarter.

Good, solid, strong effort by Tekamah-Herman Friday night.

The Tigers (9-9) battle Howells-Dodge (6-11) Friday night at Clarkson in the first round of the East Husker Conference Tournament.

The Jaguars won 54-47 at Logan View/Scribner-Snyder Tuesday night in action that was aired on 107.9 the Bull.

That game was tied at 37 through three quarters.

I think Tekamah-Herman can definitely get over the hump and win this time around.

It's never easy to beat a team twice in a week.

I feel the Tigers are due to breakout and end this lengthy skid they've been on lately.

Tekamah-Herman has lost five in a row and seven out of their last eight, but perhaps they will find a way to win come Friday night.

Howells-Dodge has been playing good basketball as of late though.

The Jaguars come in winners of 5 out of their last 6.

So Howells-Dodge is on a roll right now.

The Jaguars' post game has been a big reason for their success too.

I think it's absolutely critical and vital that Jadyn Fleischman has a monster game and stays out of foul trouble.

She's a great player, and the Tigers rely upon her a lot.

Guards like Anna Wakehouse need to have a big game also.

She gave Howells-Dodge trouble the first time around, according to Howells-Dodge Head Coach Scott Polacek, and has to do it again for Tekamah-Herman to be successful and have the type of game they want.

Friday night's game is scheduled to tip-off at 6:00 p.m. in Clarkson.

The winner gets top seeded Oakland-Craig in Oakland on Monday.

Howells-Dodge Boys and Girls 2-1 in their last 3 games

The Howells-Dodge Boys Basketball Team won 85-58 at Tekamah-Herman Friday night before defeating Pender 59-41 at home on Saturday, and losing 53-32 at Logan View/Scribner-Snyder Tuesday night in action aired on 107.9 the Bull.

The Pendragons led the Jaguars 14-11 at the end of one. Howells-Dodge outscored Pender 15-8 in the 2nd quarter to take a 26-22 lead into the locker room.

The Jaguars outscored the Pendragons 15-6 in the 3rd quarter to go up 41-28 at the end of three.

Howells-Dodge won the 4th quarter 18-13.

The Raiders started the game on a 12-0 run and led 16-5 at the end of one.

Great play from the Jaguars up until Tuesday's game. I don't know what happened against LVSS.

Howells-Dodge (10-6) battles Clarkson/Leigh (5-10) in the first round of the East Husker Conference Tournament at Wisner-Pilger on Saturday.

The Patriots lost 72-38 at home to Wisner-Pilger Tuesday night.

Clarkson/Leigh has struggled in their last couple of games and have lost two in a row.

I think the Jaguars may very well end up winning this one, but if Howells-Dodge plays the way they did on Tuesday and the Patriots play the way they have in certain games this year then this one could be interesting.

The Jaguars beat the Patriots 77-61 at home on Saturday, December 21st.

I anticipate this game being close just like the last one was.

Clarkson/Leigh beat Tekamah-Herman by 30 and Howells-Dodge downed the Tigers by 27 so this one should be a barn burner.

It has a bit of a late start too...7:00 p.m. due to Wrestling going on earlier in the day at Wisner-Pilger.

These two are rivals and I'm sure the Jaguars really want to get this one.

The winner gets BRLD on Tuesday at BRLD, and beating the Wolverines is no doubt a very tall and tough task.

Howells-Dodge has to focus on beating the Patriots first though because that won't be easy.

I think whichever team can get going offensively has the best chance to win.

It could be a scenario where neither offense gets going or both offenses could light it up though.

We shall see what happens, but one way or another it is conference tournament time, and this one really counts and matters.

Not that the other games don't count or matter because they do, but this is the time of year where maybe they start to count a little more.

I anticipate a great, hard fought battle and game between the two teams and fully expect both teams to get after one another.

It should be a great one with two rivals going hard at it.

The Howells-Dodge Girls won 52-45 at Tekamah-Herman Friday night before losing 44-29 at home to Pender on Saturday, and winning 54-47 at Logan View/Scribner-Snyder in action aired on 107.9 the Bull Tuesday night.

Cassie Pieper had 15 points while Riley Pokorny totaled 13. Jaedyn Ratzlaff added 7 while Brooklyn Macholan registered 8 rebounds.

The Pendragons led the Jaguars 11-5 at the end of one, and outscored Howells-Dodge 13-7 in the 2nd quarter to take a 24-12 lead into the locker room.

Pender won the 3rd quarter 9-5 to extend their lead to 33-17 at the end of three.

The Jaguars won the 4th quarter 12-11.

Ratzlaff and Macholan finished with 8 points apiece while Janessa Schmidt notched 7.

LVSS went up 8-5 in the 1st quarter before Howells-Dodge outscored them 10-4 the rest of the period to lead 15-12 at the end of one.

Head Coach Scott Polacek says it was a hard fought win. "The Raiders they're a good coached team, alright. Mr. Hegge he did a really good job with them being patient against our man-to-man. And they got us in a little bit of foul trouble early, that was key."

Macholan had a game-high 19 points and 11 rebounds for the Jaguars, good enough for a double-double with 14 points coming in the 2nd half. Ratzlaff and Pieper chipped in 9 apiece while Schmidt totaled 9 rebounds.

Polacek says his team's post play made the difference. "But really I think our post play took care of it in the 2nd half. And we've really been struggling there a little bit. And we've been playing against tough conference schools that have really been shutting out post game down. And today we were able to use that. I think that was kind of a key factor for the game for us."

The Jaguars (6-11) battle Tekamah-Herman (9-9) at Clarkson in the East Husker Conference Tournament on Friday at 6:00 p.m.

The Tigers lost 42-25 at Omaha Mercy Tuesday night.

Tekamah-Herman has been reeling lately as they've lost five in a row and seven out of their last eight.

Still though you can bet the Tigers will come well prepared and will be ready to play come Friday night.

It's the Conference Tournament, and I'm sure Tekamah-Herman will crank things up some.

I'm willing to bet the Tigers will look inside to Jadyn Fleischman.

Howells-Dodge has to take her away and try and make others beat them.

I think the Jaguars need to try and make Tekamah-Herman shoot and score from the outside cause they've struggled to do that in the times I've watched them.

The winner gets top seeded Oakland-Craig on Monday.

Howells-Dodge has to build off the win from Tuesday and play well come Friday night.

You can bet the Tigers will give the Jaguars their best shot and then some.

Games are super critical and important all season long, but I feel like the stakes get higher once Conference Tournaments begin.

It's getting to be that time of year where you want to work out any final kinks you might have in your armor and be playing your best basketball and make a run towards the end of the season.

There's not a lot of time left to fix major struggles, and given the way Howells-Dodge is playing right now and the way Tekamah-Herman has played lately, you would think the Jaguars would win.

It's almost kind of like a new season with the Conference Tournament though, and so the Tigers are definitely capable of coming out and playing well.

If Tekamah-Herman is on offensively they could win.

It's never easy to beat a team, especially twice within a week's time, so Howells-Dodge definitely has their work cut out for them.

Winnebago Boys and Girls split with Wynot and BRLD

Update: The boys game has been cancelled due to illness from Pender. No Basketball on the Bull tonight.

The Winnebago Boys Basketball Team won 61-57 at Wynot Friday night before losing 70-43 at BRLD Tuesday night.

The game with the Wolverines was tied at 14 at the end of one.

The Indians did real well in the first half against the Wolverines.

Winnebago (5-9) plays host to Pender (4-15) Thursday night in action that will be aired on 107.9 the Bull.

The Pendragons lost 53-49 at Emerson-Hubbard Tuesday night.

The same Pirate team that lost by 50 to the Indians.

I think this game could be close and entertaining or it could be a blowout.

Last year's game was a barn burner so we'll see how this year's game goes.

Pender has really been struggling in the second half of the season as they are just 1-8 in their last 9 games.

Winnebago is just 2-5 in their last 7 so something has to give in this one for both teams.

If I had to guess as to who is going to win I would say the Indians are going to come out top.

Reasons being Winnebago is at home and their style of play is difficult to contend and deal with.

It will be really exciting to have Winnebago Basketball from Winnebago on the Bull.

We've covered the Indians at State and in the postseason in the past, but I'm not sure if we've ever done a game at Winnebago.

Well that all changes Thursday night as we'll be covering the Indians and Pendragons in Winnebago.

We did the games at Oakland-Craig in the regular season a couple of years back as well.

It should be a special and exciting night of basketball on the Bull for sure.

I hope you can tune in and listen to us bring you all the action on 107.9 the Bull.

The Indians have to get out and run and try and run Pender out of the gym.

Wisner-Pilger ran the Pendragons out of the gym Thursday night, and I'm sure Winnebago will look to do the same.

And it will happen too if the Indians have it their way.

I'm hoping it is a good, competitive, and close game though.

Tip-off is scheduled for 8:00 p.m. on the Bull.

The Winnebago Girls lost 58-47 at Wynot Friday night before upsetting BRLD 71-70 on the road Tuesday night.

The Indians led the Blue Devils 10-7 at the end of one. Wynot outscored Winnebago 24-9 in the 2nd quarter to take a 31-19 lead into the locker room.

The Blue Devils won the 3rd quarter 16-12 to up their edge to 47-31 at the end of three.

The Indians won the 4th quarter 16-11.

Keisha Snyder had 21 points and 16 rebounds, good enough for a double-double.

Snyder had a double-double of 21 points and 12 rebounds while Jayla Price totaled 18 points. Maddy Cleveland added 15 while Tia YellowThunder notched 11. Natasha Deal posted 8 rebounds.

I bet the Indians are glad to have Cleveland back. What a win for Winnebago over BRLD.

The Indians (9-6) host Pender (12-7) Thursday night in action that can be heard on 107.9 the Bull.

The Pendragons won 59-13 at Emerson-Hubbard Tuesday night.

Winnebago beat the Pirates 91-12 at home a couple of weeks ago.

Pender is playing really good basketball right now, but the Indians' win over the Wolverines was something else.

That might be one of the biggest wins if not the biggest win in program history.

Winnebago has to keep it going on Thursday too.

The Pendragons are tough and feature Ashley Ostrand, Zoey Lehmkuhl, and others.

I think the Indians' offense and their scorers could be too much for Pender though.

I feel like Winnebago is a little more athletic and polished offensively.

The Pendragons are probably better defensively, but I feel the Indians' offense could very well get them over the top.

Without Cleveland I think Pender would have a better chance of winning.

But with Cleveland back for Winnebago I just feel the Indians could very well be too tough.

The Pendragons have played a lot of games lately too and you have to wonder how much Pender is going to have in the tank come Thursday night.

The Pendragons should have something extra for Winnebago I would think, but also might be saving themselves for the East Husker Conference Tournament.

Speaking of Conference Tournaments...Winnebago hosts Emerson-Hubbard in the first round of the Lewis and Clark Conference Tournament on Saturday.

I think the Indians can make a run in that tournament and do some damage.

Winnebago is clicking on all cylinders right now and peaking at the right time at the end of the  season.

I feel the Indians are going to be a dangerous team from here on out that nobody wants to face or play.

Thursday night's game is scheduled to tip-off at 6:00 p.m. on the Bull.

Pender Boys 1-2 in last three games; Girls 3-0

Update: The boys game has been cancelled due to illness from Pender. No Basketball on the Bull tonight.

The Pender Boys Basketball Team lost 59-41 at Howells-Dodge on Saturday before winning 67-60 at home over Madison Monday night, only to fall 53-49 at Emerson-Hubbard Tuesday night.

The Pendragons got out to a 15-8 lead on Emerson-Hubbard at the end of one. The Pirates won the 2nd quarter 10-6 to make it a 21-18 game at halftime.

Pender won the 3rd quarter 14-12 to increase their lead to 35-30 at the end of three.

Emerson-Hubbard outscored the Pendragons 23-14 in the 4th quarter.

Nice win over the Dragons on Monday.

Pender (4-15) travels to Winnebago to take on the Indians (5-9) Thursday night in action that will be aired on 107.9 the Bull.

Winnebago lost 70-43 at BRLD Tuesday night.

I think this game has a chance to be a good one based on how both teams did against Wynot.

Winnebago beat the Blue Devils by 4 in OT while the Pendragons lost to Wynot by 9.

The Indians beat Emerson-Hubbard by 50 though so this game could easily be a rout instead.

The Pendragons have to show some toughness, resolve, and moxie.

Pender had a really tough game against Wisner-Pilger Thursday night, and had a tough loss at the end to the Pirates.

The Pendragons talk about wanting to change the culture of their program and start winning.

And that all starts with giving your all and being a tough competitor night in and night out.

Not that Pender isn't giving it their all and doing everything in their power to win, but I feel the Pendragons could be better.

Pender rematches with the Gators in the East Husker Conference Tournament on Saturday.

The Pendragons need to step up and play well on Thursday and Saturday.

The last thing Pender wants to have happen is get run out of the gym like they did Thursday night.

The Pendragons have to be more effective and efficient offensively.

It has been a struggle for Pender this year, but the Pendragons definitely have what it takes to get to where they need to be.

You would like to see Pender finish the year strong and build something for next year.

The Pendragons are a young team, and these games here at the end of the season really matter.

Pender has to treat the contests like Gold, and do everything in their power to go out there and win on a nightly basis.

Thursday night's game is scheduled to tip-off at 8:00 p.m. on the Bull.

The Pender Girls won 44-29 at Howells-Dodge on Saturday, 45-21 at home over Madison Monday night, and 59-13 at Emerson-Hubbard Tuesday night.

The Pendragons held an 11-9 advantage at the end of one against the Dragons, and outscored Madison 12-2 in the 2nd quarter to take a 23-11 lead into the locker room.

Pender outscored the Dragons 16-1 in the 3rd quarter to go up 39-12 at the end of three.

Madison won the 4th quarter 9-6.

The Pendragons went up 17-5 on Emerson-Hubbard after one, and outscored the Pirates 24-2 in the 2nd quarter to take a 41-7 lead into the locker room.

Pender shutout Emerson-Hubbard 10-0 in the 3rd quarter to up their advantage to 51-7 at the end of three.

The Pendragons won the 4th quarter 8-6.

Pender simply continues to roll.

The Pendragons (12-7) battle Winnebago (9-6) on the road Thursday night in action that can be heard on 107.9 the Bull.

The Indians upset BRLD 71-70 on the road Tuesday night.

Pender has won six in a row so this should be a great game.

Winnebago has Maddy Cleveland back so the Indians are at full strength now.

Winnebago is the real deal, and will be extremely difficult to beat.

The Pendragons have played superb basketball as of late though so I look for both teams to really get after one another.

Having Ashley Ostrand back has really made the difference for Pender.

This should be a great game that comes down to the wire.

It will be interesting to see how the Pendragons handle things given how many games they've played lately.

It will be interesting to see how the Indians come out coming off a huge win over the Wolverines.

Winnebago is a legit threat to anyone they play, and the game being at their house makes things awfully difficult for Pender in my mind.

The Pendragons have won six straight for a reason though, and so we will see what happens Thursday night.

It should be an action packed night of ball on the Bull.

Pender has to go into this game fearless and ready to take on the challenge of playing the Indians.

The Pendragons have to take care of the ball and really get after things for four quarters.

Pender has to hit open jump shots and get to the charity stripe and convert their free throws and layups.

The Pendragons have to box out and rebound well and also contest shots.

Pender has to try and slow things down some and play at their place and not try and get in a track meet with Winnebago.

Tip-off is set for 6:00 p.m. on the Bull.

Emerson-Hubbard Boys 1-2 in last three games; Girls 0-3

The Emerson-Hubbard Boys Basketball Team fell 85-27 at home to Osmond Thursday night before losing 62-10 at Wakefield Friday night. The Pirates turned around and beat rival Pender 53-49 at home Tuesday night.

The Tigers got out to a 20-6 lead after one, and outscored Emerson-Hubbard 31-8 in the 2nd quarter to take a 51-14 lead into the locker room.

Osmond outscored the Pirates 16-7 in the 3rd quarter to up their advantage to 67-21 at the end of three.

The Tigers tripled up Emerson-Hubbard 18-6 in the 4th quarter.

Mason Hall led the way with 11 points.

The Pendragons got out to a 15-8 lead at the end of one.

Nolan Belt had 20 points while Hall totaled 12 points and 8 rebounds. Hunter Schock added 7 points.

Great win for the Pirates on Tuesday. Emerson-Hubbard never gave up.

The Pirates (3-11) host Allen (10-2) Thursday night.

The Eagles won 58-49 at home over Walthill Monday night.

Emerson-Hubbard has their work cut out for them in this one for sure.

These two will be co-oping in all sports but Football next year so at this time next year all these kids will be teammates.

For the present time though the two schools are separate.

The Pirates have to go out there and try and get bragging rights like they did against Pender

There's no reason why Emerson-Hubbard can't compete and do well in this game.

The Eagles are good, but they have been challenged in certain games.

I think the Pirates can challenge and compete against Allen.

Emerson-Hubbard has to come out and want to do well as competitors.

The Pirates have to take the fight to the Eagles for four quarters, and make life difficult on Allen.

Emerson-Hubbard has to play their tails off the same way they played against Pender Tuesday night.

That was a great come from behind team win on Tuesday, and the Pirates could use another victory like that Thursday night.

Emerson-Hubbard has to come out inspired and ready to go.

The Pirates need to play their tails off for four quarters, and play a complete 32-minute game.

Emerson-Hubbard has to force turnovers and take care of the ball.

The Pirates have to maximize their possessions and come through in the clutch.

I think Emerson-Hubbard could win this one if the game is close.

The Pirates have been blown out in quite a few games this year though and I could see what happening again too.

The Emerson-Hubbard Girls lost 55-15 at home to Osmond Thursday night before falling 64-23 at Wakefield-Allen Friday night, and 59-13 at home to Pender Tuesday night.

The Tigers doubled up the Pirates 14-7 in the 1st quarter, and blanked Emerson-Hubbard 16-0 in the 2nd quarter to take a 30-7 lead into the locker room.

Osmond outscored the Pirates 19-4 in the 3rd quarter to increase their lead to 49-11 at the end of three.

The Tigers won the 4th quarter 6-4.

Brynn Schock led the way with 8 points and 9 rebounds.

The Trojans went up 30-5 at the end of one, and blanked Emerson-Hubbard 8-0 in the 2nd quarter to take a 38-5 lead into the locker room.

Wakefield/Allen won the 3rd quarter 11-6 to extend their lead to 49-11 at the end of three.

The Trojans won the 4th quarter 15-12.

Schock pulled down 10 rebounds.

The Pendragons went up 17-5 after one, and outscored the Pirates 24-2 in the 2nd quarter to take a 41-7 lead into the locker room.

Pender shutout Emerson-Hubbard 10-0 in the 3rd quarter to up their advantage to 51-7 at the end of three.

The Pendragons won the 4th quarter 8-6.

Addison Mackling had 9 points while Schock pulled down 8 rebounds.

A few more tough losses for the Pirates.

Emerson-Hubbard (1-14) is off until Saturday when they take on Winnebago (9-6) at Winnebago on Saturday in the first round of the Lewis and Clark Conference Tournament.

The Indians upset BRLD 71-70 on the road Tuesday night.

Winnebago is a much improved team and will be tough to beat.

The Indians defeated the Pirates 91-12 at home on Tuesday, January 14th.

I don't anticipate Winnebago being any easier this time around either.

If anything the Indians will be even tougher.

It has just been a really difficult season for Emerson-Hubbard.

The Pirates will be combining with Allen in all sports but football starting next year so that will help.

Emerson-Hubbard has desperately needed a co-op and are going to finally be getting it.

It's just to the point where the Pirates don't have a lot of kids out for the team and after this year you would have to wonder how Emerson-Hubbard would have been able to continue to survive on their own.

This has been a very tough year for the Pirates, but Emerson-Hubbard has to keep fighting and battling.

Mackling and Schock have to keep doing what they've been doing, and step up and be team leaders.

The Pirates have to do their best to compete and do well on Saturday.

The Indians' win over the Wolverines was beyond impressive, and Winnebago appears as if they are for real.

The Indians aren't a team people are going to want to play the rest of the season.

Winnebago has proven they are very dangerous, and Emerson-Hubbard has to try and find a way to do well against the Indians and slow them down.

Beating Winnebago might be out of the question, but if the Pirates can compete and keep things respectable it could help them heading into what would be a consolation game on Tuesday.

North Bend Central Boys beat Oakland-Craig and Madison; Girls lose to Knights, beat Dragons

The North Bend Central Boys Basketball Team won 58-52 at Oakland-Craig Friday night in action aired on 107.9 the Bull before downing Madison 73-54 at home Tuesday night.

Oakland-Craig went on a 7-0 to start, and led 9-2. But North Bend Central went on a 7-0 run of their own and scored the final 11 points of the first quarter to take a 16-13 lead.

Jaxon Wietfeld took over for the Tigers in the second quarter, scoring eight points in helping NBC to a 31-23 halftime lead.

Oakland-Craig came out strong in the third quarter, outscoring NBC 14-11, but the Tigers still held a 42-37 advantage after three.

A key stat throughout the first three quarters were the charge fouls called against NBC on offense. The Tigers had six called against them in the first three frames, and seven in the game. And Oakland-Craig had three charges called on them. Both teams were playing very fast and very aggressive, which created an exciting atmosphere, but also resulted in the unusually high amount of fouls on offense.

Oakland-Craig was able to pull with three points at 49-46 with just over three minutes left in the game.

North Bend Central then went on a 6-0 run to lead 55-46. The Tigers made free throws down the stretch and were leading 58-49 when O-C’s Colton Thomsen made a three pointer as time expired.

Wietfeld and Austin Endorf each had 15 points to lead NBC, with Breckin Peters adding 12.

Good win for the Tigers on Friday, but the game with the Dragons was too close for comfort in the 3rd quarter.

North Bend Central (16-0) takes on Wisner-Pilger (10-5) on the road Thursday night.

The Gators won 72-38 at Clarkson/Leigh Tuesday night.

You can bet Wisner-Pilger will give the Tigers their best shot so NBC has to be ready.

The Tigers have to be focused and ready to play for four quarters.

I'm guessing North Bend Central kind of let the foot off the accelerator against Madison, at least that's what I would assumed happened.

The Tigers have to play hard for 32 minutes and must turn in a complete game performance Thursday night.

Coach Duane Mendlik is the winningest Head Coach in Nebraska High School Basketball History and you know the Gators will have a really good game plan.

North Bend Central has to avoid the upset and what would be a tough loss heading into the East Husker Conference Tournament.

The Tigers really want to win their last game before the Conference Tournament begins I'm sure.

These two teams could very well meet again in the Quarterfinals of the Tournament, scheduled for Tuesday.

It seems like teams often times rematch in these conference tournaments after meeting in the regular season just a game or two before the Tournament begins.

So North Bend Central could very well have to go through Wisner-Pilger a second time to get to the Semifinals, but we will see what happens.

First things first though, the Tigers have to worry about beating the Gators on Thursday.

Wisner-Pilger is a great team when they are on and they are fun to watch and hard to stop.

It really depends which Gator team shows up though.

If North Bend Central gets the team that lost to Humphrey/Lindsay Holy Family and Twin River they should roll.

But if the Tigers get the team that dominated Pender and Clarkson/Leigh then we could have ourselves a barn burner.

The North Bend Central Girls lost 40-39 at Oakland-Craig Friday night in action aired on 107.9 the Bull in a game that came down to the final possession before routing Madison 58-18 at home Tuesday night.

The game with the Knights featured a match up of previously unbeatens, with both teams heading in at 15-0. The game was tightly contested throughout, and the game was tied 10-10 at the end of the first quarter.

The Knights were able to hold NBC to just six points in the second quarter, and Oakland-Craig took a 22-16 lead into halftime.

Oakland-Craig stretched their lead to 10 early in the second half, but they were eventually held to just five points in the third quarter, and the Tigers didn’t score in the third until almost two minutes left, but they went on a run late in the frame, adding nine points, making the score Oakland-Craig 27, NBC 25 after three.

The Knights started to create a little separation in the fourth, but NBC went on a small scoring run, and cut the score to 40-39 with 9.6 seconds to go.

The Tigers had the basketball on their side of the floor down one with 9.6 seconds left and a chance to win the game. A shot from Sydney Emanuel missed of the right side of the rim and time expired, preserving the victory for Oakland-Craig.

Kaitlyn Emanuel scored 13 points off the bench for NBC, and Lauren Emanuel had 10.

The Tigers led the Dragons 24-6 at the end of the 1st quarter, and outscored Madison 16-5 in the 2nd quarter to take a 40-11 lead into the locker room.

The Tigers tripled up Madison 6-3 in the 4th quarter.

A gut wrenching loss to the Knights no doubt.

North Bend Central (16-1) battles Wisner-Pilger (3-13) on the road Thursday night.

The Gators lost 49-39 at Clarkson/Leigh Tuesday night.

Wisner-Pilger has played well for about the last three weeks or so.

The Gators have started playing better basketball than they were earlier in the year.

Still though you would think the Tigers would be able to win this one.

This is a game where you hope to build a big advantage early and put Wisner-Pilger away as quickly as possible.

The last thing North Bend Central wants is for the Gators to hang around.

Wisner-Pilger is a tough, scrappy team though and they won't be easy to take down.

The Gators will be tough, especially on their home floor.

Wisner-Pilger has nothing to lose in this game really.

The Tigers have to play the way they did on Tuesday night.

Roll big in this one and set the stage for the East Husker Conference Tournament.

North Bend Central could very well get their rematch with Oakland-Craig in the EHC Tournament Championship Game.

We will see what happens, but I could definitely see that happening.

The Tigers have to play well and strong from the start against the Gators.

North Bend Central has to turn in a great and outstanding performance Thursday night.

The Tigers need to keep doing what they have all season, and turn in another dominating performance against Wisner-Pilger.

North Bend Central has to be tough and tenacious from start to finish, and has to play suffocating, tough, in your face defense and cannot let up.

Wisner-Pilger Boys beat Clarkson/Leigh; Girls lose

The Wisner-Pilger Boys Basketball Team won 72-38 at Clarkson/Leigh Tuesday night.

The Gators got out to a 22-4 lead at the end of one, and doubled up the Patriots 20-10 in the 2nd quarter to take a 42-14 lead into the locker room.

Wisner-Pilger won the 3rd quarter 13-10 to increase their advantage to 55-24 at the end of three.

The Gators won the 4th quarter 17-14.

Very impressive and dominant win for Wisner-Pilger.

The Gators (10-5) host undefeated North Bend Central (16-0) Thursday night.

The Tigers won 73-54 at home over Madison Tuesday night.

That game with the Dragons was a tight game in the 3rd quarter.

I think Wisner-Pilger has a chance to win this one if they play well from start to finish.

The Gators have to come out and play well and play a complete game though.

Wisner-Pilger has to play a four quarter game and can't let up at any point.

The Gators are on a bit of a roll lately and are starting to come around, having won 3 out of their last 4.

The last two games have been impressive dominating performances from Wisner-Pilger.

The Gators have to repeat their efforts of the last two games against North Bend Central Thursday night.

A win would be a huge shot of momentum heading into the East Husker Conference Tournament there's no doubt about that.

Wisner-Pilger has to come out and flat out dominate from the onset.

The Gators must take advantage of Tiger miscues and limit turnovers themselves.

Wisner-Pilger has to hustle at all times and give 110% for 32 minutes.

The Gators have to attack the basket and look to get to the rim.

Dylan Kneifl has to throw down some more dunks if he can too.

This is a huge opportunity for Wisner-Pilger.

The Gators are at home against the Defending C-1 State Runner-Ups right before the East Husker Conference Tournament.

Wisner-Pilger couldn't ask for a bigger scenario or opportunity.

This is an opportunity the Gators have to take advantage of.

The Wisner-Pilger Girls Basketball Team lost 49-39 at Clarkson/Leigh Tuesday night.

The Patriots led 13-12 at the end of one, and won the 2nd quarter 14-12 to take a 27-24 lead into the locker room.

Solid effort from Wisner-Pilger.

The Gators (3-13) host North Bend Central (16-1) Thursday night.

The Tigers routed Madison 58-18 at home Tuesday night.

Wisner-Pilger will play Pender again in the EHC Tournament on Friday at Humphrey/Lindsay Holy Family.

The Gators have to use this game against North Bend Central as preparation for the Conference Tournament.

The Tigers are a great team, and will be very difficult to beat.

I think Wisner-Pilger can compete and keep things close and respectable though.

I look for the Gators to play strong and well on Thursday.

Wisner-Pilger has struggled lately though as they've lost three in a row and five out of their last six.

The Gators could really use something positive to happen for them on Thursday.

I look for Wisner-Pilger to turn in an inspired effort against North Bend Central.

I thought the Gators played respectable against both Pender and Clarkson/Leigh.

I look for Wisner-Pilger to put forth another solid effort on Thursday against the Tigers.

North Bend Central is having a great season there's no denying that.

The Tigers are very good offensively and defensively.

North Bend Central struggles at times offensively though, and if the Gators catch them off an off night then who knows.

The Tigers will be very, very difficult to knock off though.

Wisner-Pilger is going to have to play amazing basketball in this one to have a chance.

Anything can happen though, especially in this conference, and the Gators have to be ready to give North Bend Central their best shot.

GACC Boys 1-3 in last four games; Girls 3-0 in last three

The Guardian Angels Central Catholic Boys Basketball Team lost 55-49 at home to Battle Creek last Tuesday night in action aired on 107.9 the Bull before winning 76-57 at home against O'Neill last Friday night. The Bluejays then fell 70-43 at Hartington Cedar Catholic on Saturday before dropping a home contest to Wayne on Monday, 66-36.

In the game with Braves, the teams traded buckets early, before Battle Creek took a 16-10 lead after the first quarter.

Battle Creek was leading 26-17 late in the second quarter when Blake Pojar hit a three pointer at the buzzer to make it 26-20 at halftime, still in favor of the Braves.

Battle Creek outscored the Bluejays 15-14 in the third quarter, and led 41-34 heading into the fourth.

The Braves held a double digit lead early in the fourth, before GACC was able to pull within four points with just over three minutes to play.

That’s as close as the Bluejays would get however, as the Braves made free throws down the stretch to keep GACC at arm’s length.

Nate Niewohner scored 11 points to lead GACC. Casey Doernemann added 8 while Pojar and Cody Steffen totaled 7 apiece. Adam Reeson chipped in 7 rebounds.

The Bluejays led the Eagles 15-14 after one, and won the 2nd quarter 14-11 to take a 29-25 lead into the locker room.

The Blue Devils also won the 4th quarter 17-12.

Rief led the way with 10 points while Doernemann, Niewohner, and Reeson recorded 8 apiece.

I thought GACC played really well up through the O'Neill game, but there was a significant drop off in the Cedar Catholic and Wayne games, in my opinion.

The Bluejays (8-7) take on Mead (7-5) on the road Thursday night.

The Raiders won 58-55 at home over Malcolm on Saturday.

This should be a good tune up game for GACC heading into the Mid-State Conference Tournament.

I feel Mead is exactly the type of team the Bluejays can get back on track by beating.

The Raiders are a solid D-2 School, and GACC being the larger school should be able to win this one you would think.

GACC plays Pierce in the Mid-State Conference Tournament next week, and GACC could really use a win heading into that game.

The Bluejays have to find a way to get back to playing the type of ball they were prior to the loss to the Trojans.

GACC has been pretty consistent for the most part so far this year, and has to rediscover their form on Thursday.

I look for the Bluejays to play well on Thursday.

This is a game GACC has to not only win, but win big, and I think the Bluejays can do that.

GACC has to be better on both ends of the floor than they have been the last two games though.

The Bluejays have to get out of this mini slump they are in and find their way again on Thursday.

GACC is having a nice season and can't let this little bump in the road affect them for very long.

The Bluejays have to play well and find a way to get back on track on Thursday.

GACC has to come out and shoot lights out against the Raiders.

The Bluejays have to be brimming with confidence and must be chomping at the bit to get back out there after Saturday and Monday.

Perhaps playing so many games in a short amount of time caught up to GACC.

So hopefully with a couple days in between games and two full days of practice the Bluejays can get back to form.

The Guardian Angels Central Catholic Girls won 60-52 at home over Battle Creek last Tuesday night in action aired on 107.9 the Bull before defeating O'Neill 71-50 at home Friday night, and Hartington Cedar Catholic 48-36 on the road Saturday.

Brenna Rief scored 14 points in the second quarter for GACC, including a pair of three pointers and a 4-4 performance at the free throw line.

The Bluejays outscored the Bravettes 14-13 in the third quarter, taking a 47-38 lead into the fourth.

Battle Creek outscored the Bluejays 14-13 in the fourth, but GACC was able to claim the win.

Gnad and Brandi Doernemann each recorded 10 points while Rief posted 8. Hass added 7 points and 13 rebounds against the Trojans.

Great games from GACC.

The Bluejays (15-2) take on Mead (8-6) on the road Thursday night.

The Raiders lost 71-32 at home to Malcolm on Saturday.

GACC should not only win this one, but dominate.

The Bluejays are a great team, and I look for GACC to turn in a big performance ahead of the Mid-State Conference Tournament.

The Bluejays will play either Boone Central/Newman Grove or Wayne on Monday in the Conference Tournament, and could use another big win heading into that one.

GACC will host one of those teams, and to have the Tournament in West Point on Monday will be really nice.

The Bluejays have had the entire week to prepare for Mead so should be up and ready to go and rock and roll.

There's no reason to think that GACC can't and won't dominate.

I look for the Bluejays to play incredible basketball on Thursday, and turn in quite the performance.

Hass, Rief, Gnad, Kaup, Hunke, and Doernemann have to continue to put up big and solid numbers for GACC.

The Bluejays are definitely having the kind of season they were hoping for after missing out on State last year for the first time in 21 years.

I look for GACC to keep things going on Thursday and find a way to pick up a big win over the Raiders.

Mead isn't a bad team, but they haven't faced the caliber of competition that the Bluejays have.

I look for it to be a Bluejay sweep for the boys and girls on Thursday.

GACC could use another momentum boost heading into the Conference Tournament, and this game with Mead allows the Bluejays to stay sharp and fresh prior to that tournament at the very least.

It should be a huge win for GACC.

I don't see why it wouldn't be given how good and consistent the Bluejays have been so far this year.
