Pender Boys lose to Homer and Omaha Nation; Girls fall to Knights, beat Chiefs

The Pender Boys Basketball Team lost 55-40 at Homer Tuesday night and 84-51 at Omaha Nation Thursday night.

The Knights led 18-7 after one, and won the 2nd quarter 11-8 to take a 29-15 lead into the locker room.

The Pendragons outscored Homer 19-13 in the 3rd quarter to make it a 42-34 game at the end of three.

The Knights outscored Pender 13-6 in the 4th quarter.

Two tough losses for the Pendragons.

Pender (3-11) battles Clarkson/Leigh (4-7) on the road Saturday.

The Patriots won 78-48 at home over Tekamah-Herman last Saturday.

Based on how both teams are playing lately I think Clarkson/Leigh is going to be very difficult to beat.

If the Patriots play like they did last Saturday they could very well win.

The Pendragons just have to step up their game and raise their level of play.

And it all starts on the defensive end of the floor.

I feel like Pender has to avoid a slow start against Clarkson/Leigh.

The Patriots really took it to the Tigers early, and if the Pendragons fall into the same trap it could be a long night for them.

Pender has to find a way to do better and be more competitive than they have been over the last four games.

It seems like losing the Wynot game has really put the Pendragons in a rut.

Pender has to find a way to break out of that rut and get back on the winning track.

The Pendragons have an excellent opportunity in front of them too.

Next week is challenging for Pender so the Pendragons need to play well on Saturday to prepare themselves for Wisner-Pilger and Howells-Dodge.

Pender is definitely more than capable of playing a great game on Saturday they just need to put their minds to it and make it happen.

The Pendragons have to get jacked and fired up, and must be ready to take the fight to Clarkson/Leigh for four quarters.

Pender has to play a complete game, and do the fundamental things well.

Taking good shots, making layups, getting to the free throw line and converting, contesting shots, rebounding and boxing out well, limiting turnovers, and creating turnovers are all important and vital and key to a victory, in my opinion.

The Pender Girls fell 52-48 at Homer Tuesday night before winning 55-54 at Omaha Nation Thursday night.

The Pendragons led 18-16 after one, and won the 2nd quarter 10-7 to take a 28-23 lead into the locker room.

Pender won the 3rd quarter 14-13 to extend their lead to 42-36 at the end of three.

The Knights outscored the Pendragons 16-6 in the 4th quarter and rallied for the win.

The Pendragons (7-7) take on Clarkson/Leigh (10-3) on the road Saturday.

The Patriots won 57-30 at home over Tekamah-Herman last Saturday in action aired on 107.9 the Bull.

I feel like Pender can win as all of their losses have come to good teams.

The loss to the Knights had to really hurt, but all the other losses are to elite competition.

The Pendragons have come close to beating these elite teams and being an elite team themselves.

Pender just hasn't been able to get over the hump for whatever reason.

The Pendragons have another chance on Saturday though.

The Patriots have won 8 in a row, and will be very tough, especially on their home floor.

I feel like this game could very well be another game Pender loses close, but we will see.

The Pendragons have been so close to breaking through, things just haven't quite gone their way as a whole against the elite teams on their schedule.

Pender has some favorable matchups after Saturday's game though so I still look for the Pendragons to do some damage before season's end.

Pender has to come out and play hard and get fired up on Saturday.

The Pendragons need to play a great game and take the fight to Clarkson/Leigh.

Pender has to be efficient offensively and must match the Patriots' toughness and physicality on defense.

The Pendragons have to be ready to play a full 32 minute, four quarter game.

Pender has to be ready for a battle, and must weather all storms and deal lethal blows of their own to Clarkson/Leigh.

It's always a good, hard fought, defensive, and competitive game when these two teams meet, and I look for Saturday's game to be no different.

It should be a really fun one and I'm very anxious to see how the game turns out.
