Wisner-Pilger Boys 2-1 in last three games; Girls 1-3 in last four
UPDATE:
Both games have been postponed
The Wisner-Pilger Boys Basketball Team won 62-49 at home over Arlington last Tuesday night in action aired on 107.9 the Bull before winning 74-27 at West Point-Beemer Friday night, and falling 62-39 at Humphrey/Lindsay Holy Family Tuesday night.
The Gators led the Eagles 17-8 at the end of one. Arlington won the 3rd quarter 17-11 to make it a 28-25 game at halftime.
Wisner-Pilger won the 3rd quarter 19-16 to extend their lead to 47-41 at the end of three.
The Gators outscored the Eagles 15-8 in the 4th quarter.
Dylan Kneifl poured in a game-high 25 points while Colby Heller and Regan Bellar notched 11 apiece. Cole Jacobsen chipped in 8 while Caden Schweers had 7.
The Gators led the Cadets 25-8 after one, and outscored them 22-7 in the 2nd quarter to build a 47-15 halftime advantage.
Wisner-Pilger won the 3rd quarter 16-10 to go up 63-25 at the end of three.
The Gators outscored West Point-Beemer 11-2 in the 4th quarter.
The Bulldogs got out to a 25-5 first quarter lead on the Gators, and outscored Wisner-Pilger 21-9 in the 2nd quarter to take a 46-14 lead into the locker room.
H/LHF won the 3rd quarter 15-8 to extend their lead to 61-22 at the end of three.
The Gators outscored the Bulldogs 17-1 in the 4th quarter.
I'm sure Wisner-Pilger had to be disappointed with how Tuesday's game went.
The Gators (7-4) are scheduled to host Howells-Dodge (7-5) Friday night.
The Jaguars won 72-38 at home over Plainview on Saturday.
Of course this game is weather permitting due to the impending weather.
I'm sure Wisner-Pilger wants to get back on the court and make amends for what happened Tuesday night.
I'm sure that wasn't the Gators' best effort and game.
I'm sure Wisner-Pilger can play a lot better than they did against the Bulldogs.
This is a big weekend for the Gators with a road game at Logan View/Scribner-Snyder on Saturday as well.
It could all be for not right now though due to mother nature.
And that might honestly not be the worst thing for Wisner-Pilger right now.
It might not hurt for the Gators to take a break and build up some energy to expend on Twin River and Pender.
Wisner-Pilger should win both of those games either way, but Wisner-Pilger might dominate those teams more if they're off this weekend, hard saying for sure though.
Mother Nature will do what she does though, and there's nothing any of us can do about the weather should it get bad.
All we can do is do our part to be safe and heed to what the weather does.
Hopefully Saturday's games get played at the very least, but we will see what happens.
Maybe the area won't get hit as hard as they are predicting, but if the predictions come true then I would anticipate at least Friday's games not being played.
We will have to wait and see what happens with Mother Nature and the Weather though.
Everything is dependent upon that.
Be watching for School Closings and Cancellations cause if school gets called off then the game might not be played either.
The Wisner-Pilger Girls lost 48-36 at home to Arlington last Tuesday night in action aired on 107.9 the Bull before winning 44-18 at home over Madison last Thursday night. The Gators also lost 60-49 at West Point-Beemer Friday night and 58-48 at Humphrey/Lindsay Holy Family Tuesday night.
The Eagles led 8-7 after one, and outscored Wisner-Pilger 13-7 in the 2nd quarter to take a 21-14 lead into the locker room.
The Gators won the 3rd quarter 14-13 to make it a 34-28 game at the end of three.
Arlington outscored Wisner-Pilger 14-8 in the 4th quarter.
Aspin Waterman, Karrin Jindra, and Lindsey Kneifl each had 8 points for the Gators.
The Gators doubled up the Dragons 4-2 in the 1st quarter, and won the 2nd quarter 12-9 to take a 16-11 lead into the locker room.
Wisner-Pilger outscored Madison 12-5 in the 3rd quarter to extend their lead to 28-16 at the end of three.
The Gators outscored the Dragons 16-2 in the 4th quarter.
Wisner-Pilger went up 12-7 at the end of one on the Bulldogs. H/LHF outscored the Gators 21-4 in the 2nd quarter to take a 28-16 lead into the locker room.
The Bulldogs won the 3rd quarter 17-14 to extend their lead to 45-30 at the end of three.
Wisner-Pilger won the 4th quarter 18-13.
I thought the Gators did a good job of being competitive in all four games. Wisner-Pilger even held a 4-point halftime lead at West Point-Beemer on Friday.
The Gators (2-10) are scheduled to host Howells-Dodge (3-10) Friday night.
The Jaguars won 66-58 at home over Lutheran High Northeast Tuesday night.
Of course this game is weather permitting due to the impending weather.
They're saying snow and ice early Friday morning and into Saturday morning, but we will see what happens.
Wisner-Pilger is also supposed to play Logan View/Scribner-Snyder on the road Saturday so it would be nice if the Gators could get one or both games in, but we will see if Mother Nature has other ideas or not.
She might, and if so the best thing to do is stay home and not risk it.
It would be nice if Wisner-Pilger could play as I feel they're playing their best basketball of the season right now and have chances to pick up two wins.
The Gators also have Twin River on Tuesday so if Wisner-Pilger could play their next three games heading into the Pender game next Thursday on the Bull I think it would really help.
I think Wisner-Pilger would be sharper against the Pendragons if they're able to play this weekend and then Tuesday.
But it all depends on what the weather does and if roads are driveable or not.
They very well might not be, and if they aren't then the best and safest thing is to simply stay home.
I think we are all waiting to see what Mother Nature does.
We will see if she decides to dump on the area or dump less snow and ice in some areas and more in others.
It could be a scenario where some games get played Friday and others do not.
It all just depends on what it's doing where the game is scheduled to be played as well as the area where the visiting team lives and what it's doing in between the schools/communities.
The coaches, fans, and players just have to sit tight and wait and see if the games are played.
School may get called off, and if it does then the games might get postponed/cancelled as well.
