Tekamah-Herman Boys and Girls win Madison Holiday Tournament; Boys fall to Omaha Brownell Talbot
The Tekamah-Herman Boys Basketball Team won 63-40 over Elgin Public/Pope John on Friday, December 27th at the Madison Holiday Tournament before downing the host Dragons 68-61 in Saturday, December 28th's Championship. The Tigers also lost 67-49 at home to Omaha Brownell Talbot Tuesday night.
Great job by Tekamah-Herman winning the Holiday Tournament.
The Tigers (3-7) take on Clarkson/Leigh (3-7) on the road Saturday in action that can be heard on 107.9 the Bull.
The Patriots fell 49-47 at home to David City Aquinas Tuesday night.
This should be a heck of a game.
Of course Tekamah-Herman ended their long losing streak last year with a win over Clarkson/Leigh at home.
I'm sure the Tigers would love to make it two in a row, but the Patriots may have other ideas.
This game could be a low scoring affair.
Both teams have really solid defenses, but both struggle to score at times.
Both teams have played well at times this year though so it should be a heck of a game.
It's a game I feel could truly go either way.
It should be a hard fought, well played game between the two squads.
I look for both teams to really get after one another and play a great game.
Tekamah-Herman has to play with a lot of heart, pride, passion, toughness, tenacity, and grit.
The Tigers have to pressure the ball and box out and rebound as well as crash the boards on offense and follow their shots.
Tekamah-Herman also has to contest shots, knock down free throws, take care of the ball, make lay ups, and force turnovers.
The Tigers have to play hard and smart from the start, and must play with the heart of a champion.
Tekamah-Herman ought to feel pretty confident about themselves heading into this one.
The Tigers should feel good about their chances of winning and being successful.
I think Tekamah-Herman will play well.
I feel this game could come down to the wire and be decided in the final minutes or seconds.
If it's anything like the Stanton/Tekamah-Herman game I called it will be an instant classic.
The Tekamah-Herman Girls also won the Madison Holiday Tournament, defeating Elgin Public/Pope John 41-21 on Friday, December 27th, and downing Madison 41-39 in the Championship on Saturday, December 28th.
The Tigers led the Wolfpack 8-0 after one and 16-8 at halftime.
Tekamah-Herman doubled up Elgin Public/Pope John 10-5 in the 3rd quarter to extend their lead to 26-13 at the end of three.
The Tigers outscored the Wolfpack 15-8 in the 4th quarter.
The Tigers led the Dragons 10-4 after one, and won the 2nd quarter 9-6 to take a 19-10 lead into the locker room.
Madison won the 3rd quarter 11-10 to make it a 29-21 game at the end of three.
The Dragons outscored Tekamah-Herman 18-12 in the 4th quarter.
Great wins and clutch play from the Tigers.
Tekamah-Herman (8-2) takes on Clarkson/Leigh (8-3) in action that will be aired on 107.9 the Bull Saturday afternoon.
The Patriots won 39-36 at home over David City Aquinas Tuesday night.
This should be a heck of a game that really tests the Tigers.
Tekamah-Herman has been tested a few times and done pretty well in their games against teams with winning records.
I feel the Tigers are getting better with every passing game and week.
With that said, Clarkson/Leigh could very well be Tekamah-Herman's toughest test of the season so far.
The Patriots are a very good team, and have won 6 in a row.
The game is in Clarkson too and that figures to be a challenge for the Tigers in itself.
It should be a heck of a low scoring, defensive game between the two squads.
I feel the Patriots might be a bit stronger offensively, and feel that could give them the advantage, but we will see.
Both teams are rolling right now.
It should be a heck of a game that comes down to the wire.
I fully expect the game to be a four quarter game and come down to the final minutes.
We will really see if Tekamah-Herman is for real and if they are a legit contender.
I'm curious to see how the Tigers fare and play against Clarkson/Leigh.
Tekamah-Herman has been off for a while so you have to wonder how that will affect the Tigers if it does.
I think the one thing Tekamah-Herman has to do is avoid a slow start.
The Tigers can't afford to come out of the gates slow and sluggish offensively.
Tekamah-Herman can't show ill effects from having two weeks in between games.
Tip-off is scheduled for 3:30 p.m. on the Bull.
