Howells-Dodge Boys and Girls top Mead
The Howells-Dodge Boys Basketball Team won 63-53 at Mead on Saturday.
The Jaguars went up 17-11 on the Raiders at the end of one. Mead won the 2nd quarter 19-14 to make it a 31-30 game at halftime.
Mead won the 3rd quarter 16-12 to pull in front 46-43 at the end of three.
Howells-Dodge outscored the Raiders 20-7 in the 4th quarter.
Good, solid win for the Jaguars.
Howells-Dodge (8-5) battles Tekamah-Herman (4-11) on the road Friday night.
The Tigers lost 69-54 at Oakland-Craig Tuesday night.
This could be an interesting game based on how close Tekamah-Herman kept things against the Knights.
I'm sure losing to BRLD the way they did on Saturday had an effect on Oakland-Craig's play on Tuesday, but still the Tigers did very well.
Tekamah-Herman is an improved team, and the Jaguars need to come out and play a great game.
This one figures to be very hard fought and competitive.
I look for Howells-Dodge to come out and play a great game Friday night.
The Jaguars have Pender on Saturday as well so a chance for a couple of wins this weekend for Howells-Dodge.
The Jaguars have a big showdown at Logan View/Scribner-Snyder on Tuesday that could really affect East Husker Conference Tournament Seeding.
Howells-Dodge needs to get on a roll here and pick up some wins.
The Jaguars have won 3 out of their last 4, but they've only played 3 games in 2020.
The Wisner-Pilger game got postponed last Friday of course, but it will be nice for Howells-Dodge to get some games in prior to the start of the Conference Tournament.
These games against Tekamah-Herman and Pender are must wins if you ask me.
The Jaguars simply can't afford to drop either contest.
And I don't think they will, but you can't ever underestimate anyone, especially in this conference.
Howells-Dodge has to play the way they have lately, and if they do that they should be just fine I would think.
I really think the Jaguars could be in the midst of making a big run in the second half of the season.
The Howells-Dodge Girls won 50-40 at Mead on Saturday.
Brooklyn Macholan had 14 points while Jaedyn Ratzlaff totaled 11. Cassie Pieper added 8 while Riley Pokorny and Janessa Schmidt notched 7 apiece.
Great team win for the Jaguars.
Howells-Dodge (4-10) takes on Tekamah-Herman (9-6) on the road Friday night.
The Tigers lost 63-29 at Oakland-Craig Tuesday night.
This isn't your typical 4-10 and 9-6 matchup.
I actually feel the Jaguars could be the better team based on how both teams have played lately.
Howells-Dodge has played a tougher schedule than Tekamah-Herman has.
The Tigers are just 1-4 in their last five games.
Tekamah-Herman has done some nice things this season though so they can't be counted out.
I feel this game will be close and tight, and will come down to the wire.
The Tigers have been good in close, tight ball games this year, and that could really help them Friday night.
It will be interesting to see what happens.
The game should be low scoring and defensive, that's for sure.
I like the Jaguars' chances if they get the same kind of good balanced scoring they got against the Raiders.
Howells-Dodge has really come on the last few games and is playing better basketball.
The Jaguars also have Pender at home on Saturday so if Howells-Dodge can get these two and then Tuesday's game at Logan View/Scribner-Snyder that would be big for East Husker Conference Tournament seeding.
I really feel like the Jaguars are a team that's getting better and starting to play their best basketball of the season.
Howells-Dodge has to keep it up, and must do everything they can to head into the Conference Tournament on a 6-game winning streak.
That would be incredible for the Jaguars if they could do it based on how they started.
Howells-Dodge has come a long ways from the beginning of the season, and we'll see if the Jaguars can make even more strides this weekend and into early next week.
