BRLD Boys beat Pierce, West Point-Beemer, and Tekamah-Herman; Girls down Cadets and Tigers
UPDATE:
Both games have been postponed. Games will be played in Lyons on Saturday with the girls game starting at 2:00 p.m. Both games can be heard on 107.9 the Bull.
The BRLD Boys Basketball Team routed Pierce 55-28 on Friday at the CNOS Classic in Sioux City before dominating West Point-Beemer 81-36 at home on Saturday, and Tekamah-Herman 73-29 at home Tuesday night.
Lucas Vogt had 21 points against the Bluejays while Darwin Snyder totaled 14 and Jaxon Johnson notched 10.
The Wolverines went up 10-4 after one on West Point-Beemer, and outscored the Cadets 33-10 in the 2nd quarter to take a 43-14 lead into the locker room.
BRLD outscored West Point-Beemer 23-12 in the 3rd quarter to go up 66-26 at the end of three.
The Wolverines won the 4th quarter 15-10.
Dylan Beutler had 20 points while Lucas Vogt registered 16. Johnson added 8 while Snyder recorded 7.
BRLD led the Tigers 26-10 after one, and outscored them 28-8 in the 2nd quarter to take a 54-28 halftime lead.
The Wolverines won the 3rd quarter 13-7 to extend their lead to 67-35 at the end of three.
BRLD won the 4th quarter 6-4.
Beutler had 25 points while Johnson and Vogt added 17 and 15, respectively.
The Wolverines simply continue to dominate.
BRLD (11-0) is scheduled to host Oakland-Craig (12-2) in Lyons Friday night in action slated to be aired on 107.9 the Bull.
O-C won 56-30 at Elmwood-Murdock on Saturday.
Oakland-Craig may very well be undefeated themselves if it wasn't for the long football season.
This should be a great game if it is played.
If being the key word though.
I mean I'm sure it will get played at some point, but it all depends on what Mother Nature decides to do.
If the area gets hit like they're saying then a postponement is probably likely.
But I could see it getting played too since Lyons and Oakland are only 7 miles apart.
But then you add in Bancroft and if there's school so hard telling what is going to happen exactly.
One option I'm thinking is make the game up on Monday as neither team plays that night.
A postponement could very well happen, but everyone has to be ready for anything.
Safety is most important in these types of situations though.
If the weather is bad it is best to stay put at home.
No use risking anything if the weather is bad.
And if school is called off the games likely won't get played, at least you wouldn't think.
I'm hearing Saturday is supposed to be okay so another option is make them up then as neither team is scheduled to play then, but without a day to practice I don't know if both teams would agree to that.
We'll see what happens though and how it all plays out.
I hope they play Friday night, but also hope the safest decision as possible is made.
Primetime basketball in Lyons would be awesome on Friday, but if it has to wait until Monday or whenever then that's just the way it has and is going to be.
Right now, Tip-off is scheduled for around 7:30 on the Bull.
The BRLD Girls won 67-33 at home over West Point-Beemer on Saturday and 67-43 at home over Tekamah-Herman Tuesday night.
The Wolverines doubled up the Cadets 12-6 in the 1st quarter, and outscored West Point-Beemer 17-8 in the 2nd quarter to go up 29-14 at halftime.
BRLD outscored the Cadets 18-4 in the 3rd quarter to extend their lead to 47-18 at the end of three.
The Wolverines won the 4th quarter 20-15.
BRLD led the Tigers 20-8 after one, and outscored them 14-5 in the 2nd quarter to take a 34-13 lead into the locker room.
Tekamah-Herman won the 3rd quarter 15-14 to make it a 48-28 game at the end of three.
The Wolverines won the 4th quarter 19-15.
Jordan Snyder had a game-high 20 points for the Wolverines. Alyssa Buchholz added 14 while Caragan Tietz notched 10.
Two big, dominating wins for BRLD.
The Wolverines (13-0) are scheduled to host Oakland-Craig (13-0) in Lyons on 107.9 the Bull Friday night.
O-C routed Elmwood-Murdock 58-33 on the road Saturday.
Both of these teams are great, and what a showdown it would be if the game is played.
Of course the game is weather permitting and may not get played on Friday.
I'm sure the game will be made up like on Monday or at some other time before the season ends, but having this game in Friday night Primetime would be ideal.
But you can't mess nor take a chance with Mother Nature.
She will rear her ugly head whether we like it or not.
And so we'll see how much snow and ice the area gets and if the amounts are different throughout the local area.
I've been saying I think the games could get played since Lyons and Oakland are only 7 miles apart, but it does depend on what it's doing in Bancroft too and if these schools have class on Friday or not.
We will likely know early in the morning if the games are on or not.
Chances are if one or all schools cancel then the games will be postponed as well.
I'm sure the players, coaches, and fans want there to be a game, but I'm guessing they would settle for a snow day as well.
Still though it would be nice if these two teams could go at it in Primetime on the Bull Friday night.
If not then I'm sure will the games will get played at some point before season's end as these games are too big not to makeup.
Both of these teams are great and amazing, and it will be a crying shame for whoever loses.
I anticipate the game going down to the wire and being decided in the final minutes or perhaps seconds, whenever it is played.
As of right now tip-off is scheduled for Friday at 6:00 p.m. on the Bull, but that could change.
Be listening to 107.9 the Bull, 840 KTIC, and also view our Closings and Cancellations Page under the weather tab at www.kticradio.com to find out if the games are on or not.
