Clarkson/Leigh Boys 1-2 in last three games; Girls 2-1 in same time frame
The Clarkson/Leigh Boys Basketball Team went 1-2 last week, beating Elgin Public/ Pope John 61-50 on the road last Tuesday night, losing 51-37 at home to Twin River last Thursday night, and falling 62-44 at home to Lutheran High Northeast Friday night.
The Patriots held a 19-12 lead at the end of one and won the 2nd quarter 11-7 to take a 30-19 lead into the locker room.

Daniel Beller had 22 points and 8 rebounds while Haden Held notched 12 points. Anthony Bruhn added 10 while Tommy McEvoy registered 8 points and 8 rebounds.
The Titans got out to a 10-4 lead after one and won the 2nd quarter 11-10 to go up 21-14 at halftime.
Both teams scored 14 points in the 3rd quarter, and the score after 3 was 35-28 in favor of Twin River.
The Titans outscored the Patriots 16-9 in the 4th quarter.

The Eagles held a 12-11 lead on Clarkson/Leigh after one, and won the 2nd quarter 17-15 to take a 29-26 lead into the locker room.
Lutheran High Northeast outscored the Patriots 15-7 in the 3rd quarter to go up 44-33 at the end of three.
The Eagles outscored Clarkson/Leigh 18-11 in the 4th quarter.
Beller totaled 14 points and 10 rebounds, good enough for a double-double. Bruhn chipped in 11 points.
McEvoy wasn't in the box score in either of the last two games last week so hopefully he's okay.
The Patriots (2-13) battle Wisner-Pilger (12-4) at Wisner in the 1st round of the East Husker Conference Tournament on Saturday.
The Gators won 58-47 at Pender last Thursday night.
Clarkson/Leigh is definitely at a disadvantage in this game, especially if they don't have McEvoy.
Beller and Bruhn can't shoulder the load on their own.
Held also stepped up against the Wolfpack, and the Patriots need 4 or 5 kids to get in double figures to have a chance in this one.
Wisner-Pilger has a good mix of freshmen and seniors, and is a very good team.
It certainly won't be easy for Clarkson/Leigh to win, but the Patriots did upset Logan View/Scribner-Snyder in the tournament two years ago.
Anything can happen, and Clarkson/Leigh has to believe and has to play optimistic basketball Saturday night.
The Patriots are playing prime time basketball, and Clarkson/Leigh has to be on top of their game.
The Patriot faithful has to get behind this team and Clarkson/Leigh has to feed off the energy and enthusiasm from the crowd.
It's "Black Out"night at Wisner-Pilger for the Patriot fans so all the Clarkson/Leigh fans have to wear black in support of the team.
Hopefully the Patriots have a lot of fans show up because I'm sure Clarkson/Leigh could really use the support.
I look for the Patriots to come out and have a strong showing, and play a good game, and put forth a great effort.
I think defense will be key in this game for Clarkson/Leigh.
The Gators have some good scorers and kids that can shoot and score so the Patriots have to be up for the challenge of slowing down Wisner-Pilger.
The Clarkson/Leigh Girls Basketball Team is 2-1 in their last three games, winning 42-32 at Elgin Public/Pope John last Tuesday night, falling 37-22 at home to Twin River last Thursday night, and beating Lutheran High Northeast 41-29 at home Friday night.
The Patriots jumped out to a 15-8 lead on the Wolfpack at the end of one before winning the 2nd quarter 6-5 to go up 21-13 at halftime.
Elgin Public/Pope John won the 3rd quarter 11-8 to make it a 29-24 game at the end of three.
Clarkson/Leigh outscored the Wolfpack 13-8 in the 4th quarter.
Halee Steffensmeier had a team-high 13 points while Paige Moore totaled 9. Kaegan Held notched 8 points while Ashlynn Novotny posted 9 rebounds.
The Titans led the Patriots 6-4 after one, and won the 2nd quarter 12-8 to lead 18-12 at halftime.
Twin River doubled up Clarkson/Leigh 10-5 in the 3rd quarter to go up 28-17 at the end of three.
The Titans won the 4th quarter 9-5.
Held finished with 11 points to lead the Patriots.
The Eagles got out to an 8-6 lead after one, and won the 2nd quarter 7-5 to take a 15-11 lead into the locker room.
Clarkson/Leigh outscored LHNE 10-4 in the 3rd quarter to go in front 21-19 at the end of three.
The Patriots doubled up the Eagles 20-10 in the 4th quarter.
Held led the way with 16 points while Novotny totaled 12 points and 10 rebounds. Kim Stodola recorded 8 points.
Good job by Clarkson/Leigh against Elgin Public/Pope John and in the 2nd half of the LHNE game. The Patriots struggled against Twin River and in the 1st half of the LHNE contest though.
Clarkson/Leigh (11-5) takes on Oakland-Craig (11-6) in the 1st round of the East Husker Conference Tournament at Howells-Dodge Friday night.
The Knights lost 35-26 at home to North Bend Central this past Friday night.
The Patriots beat the Knights 36-30 at home on December 5th.
That was when Oakland-Craig had Kennedy Benne I might add.
This game figures to be close and interesting again, and I feel both teams are better than the seed they received for the tournament.
I definitely think Clarkson/Leigh is better than an 8 seed even though they lost to the 4, 5, 6, and 7 seeds.
I feel the Patriots have something to prove and will play with a chip on their shoulder.
I look for Clarkson/Leigh to use the seeding as fuel and motivation.
I wouldn't be totally shocked if the Patriots beat the Knights then upset Stanton in the 2nd round on Monday.
Clarkson/Leigh has a very tough road to Columbus, but you never know, the Patriots could be one of the last 4 teams standing.
Clarkson/Leigh just has to believe and dream big.
The Patriots are still in good position to snatch a wildcard into the State Tournament so Clarkson/Leigh has to keep on trucking and plugging away.
Even if the Patriots were to lose a game in this tournament it wouldn't be the end of the world as long as Clarkson/Leigh bounces back from it.
I think the Patriots have something to prove in this tournament though.
I don't think you will see Clarkson/Leigh go down quietly and without a fight.
I fully expect the Patriots to give the Knights and whoever else they play all they can handle and then some.
Friday's game against Oakland-Craig is set to tip-off at 6:00 p.m.
