Oakland-Craig Boys and Girls beat Omaha Nation, win Malcolm Holiday Tournament

The Oakland-Craig Boys Basketball Team is rolling as of late as the Knights beat Omaha Nation 83-65 on the road on Thursday, December 21st before topping Centennial 60-48 at the Malcolm Holiday Tournament on Friday, and Wilber-Clatonia in the championship game on Saturday.

The Knights jumped on the Chiefs 32-13 after one. Omaha Nation won the 2nd quarter 13-9 to make it a 41-26 game at halftime.

The Chiefs outscored Oakland-Craig 23-19 in the 3rd quarter to cut the deficit to 11 at 60-49 at the end of three.

The Knights put up 23 points in the 4th quarter compared to 16 for Omaha Nation.

Garrett Seagren had 23 points and 10 rebounds, good enough for a double-double. Garrison Dodge and Kobe Benne added 21 points while Wyatt Seagren totaled 9 rebounds.

Oakland-Craig led the Broncos 17-14 after one. Centennial won the 2nd quarter 17-16 to make it a 33-31 game at halftime in favor of the Knights.

Oakland-Craig won the 3rd quarter 10-9 to extend the lead to 43-40 at the end of three.

The Knights outscored the Broncos 17-8 in the 4th quarter.

Garrett Seagren poured in 27 points and 18 rebounds, good enough for a double-double. Jared Mulder added 11 points and 7 rebounds while Benne notched 10 points.

Oakland-Craig led the Wolverines 24-18 after one. The Knights tripled up Wilber-Clatonia 15-5 in the 2nd quarter to go up 39-23 at halftime.

Oakland-Craig outscored the Wolverines 17-12 in the 3rd quarter to lead 56-35 at the end of three.

The Knights won the 4th quarter 11-6.

Benne had a team-high 16 points while Garrett Seagren registered 15. Cole Bures added 10 points and 8 rebounds while Dodge and Mulder had 8 and 7 points, respectively.

Balanced scoring has allowed Oakland-Craig to play the type of basketball they're playing right now, in my opinion.

The Knights are playing really well at the moment.

Oakland-Craig (8-4) takes on Stanton (1-9) at home Friday night.

The Mustangs lost 46-30 to Hartington-Newcastle at their own Holiday Tournament on Friday.

The Knights should be able to roll to a big win in this game.

Stanton really struggles to score so Oakland-Craig has to crank up the defensive pressure and get out in transition and be relentless.

The Knights have a pair of really tough games coming up next week against Walthill and BRLD so Oakland-Craig has to use this game against the Mustangs as a tune up and game to get back into the flow of things after a week off.

This is a game where all players should see the floor so the Knights should get everyone valuable playing experience.

Oakland-Craig has to jump out to an early lead, build a big lead, and rest starters.

The Knights have to come out and play hard and execute and take care of business early.

Garrett Seagren, Dodge, Benne, Mulder, Bures, and Wyatt Seagren all have to do their thing for Oakland-Craig.

I think having Garrett Seagren back has really made a difference for this Knights' team.

Oakland-Craig is a different team with him, and he's really made a huge impact for this squad.

The Knights have to play fast, physical, aggressive, tenacious, lights out, and tough.

There can't be any doubt as to what has to take place Friday night.

Oakland-Craig has to come out and dominate from start to finish. That's how things need to go for the Knights.

Oakland-Craig has won 5 in a row, and I look for the Knights to make it 6 come Friday night.

The schedule is about to get very difficult for Oakland-Craig so the Knights have to play well and play a complete game in this one against Stanton.

This game and the Tekamah-Herman game are the real only gimme's left on the regular season schedule you could say.

Oakland-Craig will need to be on top of their game next week and in their other tough games down the line.

The Knights are playing really good basketball right now, and I look for Oakland-Craig to keep the ball rolling Friday night.

The Oakland-Craig Girls Basketball Team won 48-46 at Omaha Nation on Thursday, December 21st before winning 56-18 over Wilber-Clatonia at the Malcolm Holiday Tournament on Friday, and the host Clippers 44-40 in Saturday's Championship Game.

The Chiefs led 9-8 after one. The Knights won the 2nd quarter 12-10 to lead 20-19 at halftime.

Oakland-Craig outscored Omaha Nation 13-11 in the 3rd quarter to go up 33-30 at the end of three.

The Chiefs won the 4th quarter 16-15.

Kennedy Benne had 18 points and 10 rebounds, good enough for a double-double, while Natalia McNeill added 11 points and 7 rebounds. Grace Pille recorded 7 points.

The Knights led the Wolverines 26-4 after one before outscoring Wilber-Clatonia 13-7 in the 2nd quarter to go up 39-11 at halftime.

Oakland-Craig outscored the Wolverines 11-4 in the 3rd quarter to extend their lead to 50-15 at the end of three.

The Knights doubled up Wilber-Clatonia 6-3 in the 4th quarter.

Benne led all scorers with 25 points while McNeill and Makenna Pearson totaled 8 apiece.

Oakland-Craig got out to a 15-10 lead on the Clippers at the end of one. Malcolm won the 2nd quarter 10-8 to make it a 23-20 game at halftime in favor of the Knights.

Oakland-Craig outscored the Clippers 16-10 in the 3rd quarter to go up 39-30 at the end of three.

Malcolm doubled up the Knights 10-5 in the 4th quarter.

Benne led the way with 17 points and 8 rebounds while McNeill posted 11 points. Mya Guzinski chipped in 10 points and 7 rebounds.

Oakland-Craig has won some tough, close games lately. The Knights have found different ways to win during this 6-game winning streak.

Oakland-Craig (9-2) hosts Stanton (10-0) Friday night.

The Mustangs beat Hartington-Newcastle 49-40 in overtime on Friday in the Stanton Holiday Tournament Championship Game.

Stanton is a tough, good, quality team, and might be the best they've been in Head Coach Greg Wegner's time at the school.

This should be a great game between two teams who are playing at a very high level right now.

Benne, McNeill, Pille, Pearson, and Guzinski all have to step up for the Knights and play well.

Oakland-Craig has to try and slow down the likes of Liz Christensen, Jessie Brandl, Hannah Heppner, and Bree Burtwhistle.

I feel this game will be close, probably decided by 5 points or less.

The Knights have been great in close games this year, but so have the Mustangs.

It should be a great game between two teams really looking to get after one another.

I think the game has a chance to be defensive and low scoring.

I think Oakland-Craig can win any type of ball game, but feel Stanton needs to keep things in the 30's or 40's to win.

It should be a great game and electric atmosphere, and I'm sure there will be a lot of interest in this game from all three communities.

I feel the Knights can win, but it wouldn't surprise me one bit if Stanton remained undefeated.

Things like hitting free throws, making layups, creating turnovers, and taking care of the ball will all be important and key for Oakland-Craig to win, in my opinion.

It should be a great game between two teams with a bunch of great players.

I think having Dacey Nelson would put the Knights over the top perhaps, but other players, especially Benne, have really picked up the slack and played well in her absence.

She'll need to have a big game for Oakland-Craig to pick up a win in this one there's no doubt about it.

Oakland-Craig also has a tough game and long road trip at Elmwood-Murdock on Saturday, but that shouldn't be something Oakland-Craig is focused on until after Friday night's game.
