North Bend Central Boys 2-1 in last three games; Girls 3-0 in same stretch
The North Bend Central Boys Basketball Team continues to play well as the Tigers lost 54-46 at home to Logan View/Scribner-Snyder last Friday night before beating Arlington 65-51 on the road Tuesday night, and winning 65-63 at Wayne on a Jaxon Wietfeld buzzer beater Thursday night.
The Tigers held a 12-5 lead after one before the Raiders won the 2nd quarter 14-8 to make it a 20-19 game at halftime in favor of North Bend Central.
LVSS outscored the Tigers 17-12 in the 3rd quarter to lead 36-32 at the end of three.
The Raiders won the 4th quarter 18-14.
John Emanuel had a game-high 23 points while Austin Endorf and Wietfeld totaled 8 apiece.
The Eagles led 11-8 after one before the Tigers won the 2nd quarter 19-14 to take a 27-25 lead into the locker room.
North Bend Central outscored Arlington 20-8 in the 3rd quarter to go up 47-33 at the end of three.
Both teams scored 18 points in the 4th quarter.
The Tigers led the Blue Devils 11-9 at the end of one before Wayne won the 2nd quarter 22-20 to tie the game at 31 at halftime.
North Bend Central won the 3rd quarter 15-14 to go up 46-45 at the end of three.
The Tigers won the 4th quarter 19-18.
Emanuel and Tanner Wietfeld each scored 24 points for North Bend Central.
Two solid wins for the Tigers so far this week. Good response to the loss to the Raiders.
North Bend Central (9-2) goes for the trifecta on Saturday when they host Fremont Bergan (9-3) in a game that will be aired on 107.9 the Bull.
The Knights won 62-18 at Cedar Bluffs Tuesday night.
This is a huge game and big opportunity for the Tigers.
North Bend Central is playing a perennial power, and has a great chance to win, in my opinion.
Bergan has good wins over David City Aquinas and Howells-Dodge, but did lose to Class D-1 Nebraska City Lourdes, who is just 5-5 after winning back-to-back state championships.
The Tigers are going to need to play a great game to win, probably their best game of the season.
Emanuel, both Wietfeld's, and Endorf have to step up and perform well for North Bend Central.
The Tigers have to play their best game and turn in a big performance on Saturday.
North Bend Central has to try and slow down Grant Frickenstein, Dylan Kucera, and Dre Vance.
Those three combined for 62 of the Knights' 69 points in the win over Arlington on Saturday.
This game figures to be very physical and entertaining, and I look for both teams to really get after one another.
A 3-0 week would be great for the Tigers, who need to keep winning to get a good seed for the East Husker Conference Tournament.
These are the types of teams you play to win against, and if North Bend Central can beat Bergan then I think they have to be viewed as a great team if they aren't already.
Bergan is a very storied program, and to beat them would be a very big deal.
Hopefully there's a big crowd and a lot of people show up and support the Tigers.
I look for the atmosphere to be electric.
Join us for the game on the Bull following the girls game, which is set to get underway at 3:15 p.m.
The North Bend Central Girls Basketball Team is 3-0 in their last 3 games, beating Logan View/Scribner-Snyder 59-21 at home last Friday night, Arlington 55-42 on the road Tuesday night, and Wayne 46-42 on the road Thursday night.
The Tigers got out to an 11-6 lead after one, and outscored the Raiders 11-4 in the 2nd quarter to take a 22-10 lead into the locker room.

The Tigers won the 4th quarter 15-7.

North Bend Central outscored Arlington 19-10 in the 3rd quarter to go up 46-33 at the end of three.
Both teams scored 9 points in the 4th quarter.
The Tigers held a 16-12 lead on the Blue Devils after one, and won the 2nd quarter 12-7 to take a 28-19 lead into the locker room.
North Bend Central outscored Wayne 11-6 in the 3rd quarter to go up 39-25 at the end of three.
The Blue Devils outscored the Tigers 17-7 in the 4th quarter.
Impressive wins for North Bend Central.
The Tigers (10-2) host Fremont Bergan (12-1) on Saturday in a game that can be heard on 107.9 the Bull.
The Knights won 58-12 at Cedar Bluffs Tuesday night.
Bergan is a very good team, and beating them will be very difficult.
There's no doubt North Bend Central can win though.
It's big stage, big game for Brooke Fredrickson, Kristin Lux, Lauren Emanuel, Hailey Bang, and Megan Ortmeier, and they have to step up and play well.
This would be a huge win for the Tigers.
North Bend Central has a few tough games in a row coming up although the Oakland-Craig game next Friday may not be as difficult with Kennedy Benne tearing her ACL against Emerson-Hubbard.
Still though the Tigers have this game with Bergan and Columbus Scotus on Tuesday so two very huge games for North Bend Central.
It's starting to get to the nitty gritty for the Tigers so North Bend Central has to step up and play well on Saturday and Tuesday.
The Tigers have to rely on their defense, and have to try and slow down Mackenzie Peitzmeier, Allison Dieckmann, and Haley Kempf.
Those three combined for 36 points against the Wildcats, and really led the way.
These are the types of games North Bend Central has to win if they hope to make the state tournament.
These types of games are what you play and practice for. All the running, lifting, conditioning, and blood, sweat, and tears in the summer are for teams like Bergan and moments like these.
It should be a great game, and I'm really hoping the Tigers can pick up the win.
These girls, especially the seniors, deserve to make state this year, and I'm hoping they can take another step towards accomplishing that feat.
Again, the games will be aired on the Bull, and I hope you join us for all the action. Tip-off is set for 3:15 p.m.
