Emerson-Hubbard won the 4th quarter 14-11.
I thought the Pirates played fairly respectable ball against Winnebago, at least offensively.
Emerson-Hubbard (1-13) takes on Wakefield (9-6) on the road Friday night.
The Trojans lost 56-45 at BRLD Tuesday night.
This figures to be a very difficult and challenging game for the Pirates.
Wakefield appears to be the real deal, and beat Emerson-Hubbard 72-33 in the Bob Clough Post Holiday Tournament on January 5th.
The Pirates are definitely going to need to step up and play well and raise their level of play in order to beat the Trojans.
Emerson-Hubbard has to play the same way they did offensively against Winnebago, and make strides and improvements defensively.
It has been a difficult season for the Pirates, but Emerson-Hubbard has to bounce back from their struggles, and go out and turn in a better performance Friday night.
I think the Pirates definitely have it in them to play better, Emerson-Hubbard just has to be confident i their abilities on offense and defense.
The Pirates have to be confident when shooting the ball, and have to play with an edge defensively.
Emerson-Hubbard has to play their tails off for 4 quarters, and give the Trojans everything they can handle.
Sebade, Kneifl, Burcham, Belt, and Eriksen all need to play good games for the Pirates.
All played well in at least one game last week, and I think it's going to take big games from all for Emerson-Hubbard to upset Wakefield.
The Pirates have to play optimistic and believe in their abilities.
Anyone can be beaten on any given day, and that's something Emerson-Hubbard has to think about before and during the game.
The Pirates have to be locked in and ready to give a great effort for 4 quarters.
Emerson-Hubbard has to be on top of their game and play their best basketball.
The Pirates have to start the game strong, and try and build a lead.
If Emerson-Hubbard falls behind big early it could spell doom for the Pirates.
Hopefully things won't go that way for Emerson-Hubbard.
The Emerson-Hubbard Girls Basketball Team is 0-4 in their last four games, losing 70-33 at Winnebago last Tuesday night, 51-28 at home to Oakland-Craig Thursday night, 41-37 at Wynot on Saturday, and 49-37 at home to Homer Tuesday night.
The Indians jumped on the Pirates 14-6 after one. Winnebago outscored Emerson-Hubbard 21-12 in the 2nd quarter to go up 35-18 at halftime.
The Indians outscored the Pirates 31-5 in the 3rd quarter to build a 66-23 lead at the end of three.
Emerson-Hubbard won the 4th quarter 10-4.
Melanie Gentrup had 16 points while Courtney Bokemper totaled 10 points and 11 rebounds, good enough for a double-double.
The Knights held a 12-9 lead on the Pirates after one before outscoring Emerson-Hubbard 16-0 in the 2nd quarter to take a 28-9 lead at halftime.
Oakland-Craig outscored Emerson-Hubbard 17-8 in the 3rd quarter to lead 45-17 at the end of three.
The Pirates won the 4th quarter 11-6.
Bokemper had 11 points and 8 rebounds while Gentrup totaled 10 points and 9 rebounds. Caitlin Gentrup added 10 rebounds while Taylor Lamp totaled 7.
The Blue Devils tripled up Emerson-Hubbard 9-3 in the 1st quarter. The Pirates won the 2nd quarter 13-8 to make it a 17-16 game at halftime in favor of Wynot.
The Blue Devils outscored Emerson-Hubbard 15-7 in the 3rd quarter to go up 32-23 at the end of three.
The Pirates won the 4th quarter 14-9.
Bokemper had a double-double of 12 points and 12 rebounds while Melanie Gentrup and Addison Mackling totaled 10 and 9 points, respectively. Lamp chipped in 10 rebounds.
The Knights led Emerson-Hubbard 13-4 at the end of one, and won the 2nd quarter 11-10 to take a 24-14 lead into the locker room.
The Pirates won the 3rd quarter 11-8 to make it a 32-25 game at the end of three.
Homer outscored Emerson-Hubbard 17-12 in the 4th quarter.
Melanie Gentrup totaled 14 points and 10 rebounds, good enough for a double-double. Bokemper recorded 12 points while Mackling notched 7. Caitlin Gentrup posted 8 rebounds.
Mackling has started to become a third scoring option for the Pirates. Caitlin Gentrup has also rebounded the ball well it appears.
Emerson-Hubbard (3-12) battles Wakefield (4-11) on the road Friday night.
The Trojans lost 70-27 at BRLD Tuesday night.
The Pirates knocked off Wakefield 43-40 at the Bob Clough Post Holiday Tournament on January 4th.
I think Emerson-Hubbard has a chance to beat the Trojans again, especially if they play the kind of defense they did against Wynot and Homer.
The Pirates have been very good defensively in their last two games, in my opinion. It's just offense that appears to be giving Emerson-Hubbard some issues.
With only 7 players out it's hard for everyone to be prime scorers, but Bokemper, Mackling, and Melanie Gentrup have proven to be primetime performers for Emerson-Hubbard.
Those 3 have to continue their good play offensively, and players like Lamp and Caitlin Gentrup have to continue to be beasts on the boards.
The Pirates have to realize they have to play and work harder than most teams due to their lack of depth.
Emerson-Hubbard's players don't have the luxury of resting on the bench for long periods of time.
The Pirates always have to be ready and on the go given their limited numbers.
I look for Emerson-Hubbard to come out and play well against Wakefield Friday night.
I think the Pirates have done some nice things in their last couple of games, and have the mental edge on the Trojans having already beaten them once.
I think Emerson-Hubbard is capable of winning again Friday night, and I actually think they're going to get the job done.
The Pirates have to come out and play and hustle their tails off, and give Wakefield everything they've got.
Emerson-Hubbard has to give the Trojans all they can handle and then some, and must make life difficult on Wakefield.
The Pirates have to come out and create havoc, and try and disrupt the flow and rhythm of the Trojans' offense.
If Emerson-Hubbard can do that and play well offensively they should stand a good chance to win.
