West Point-Beemer Boys and Girls easily defeat Tekamah-Herman
The West Point-Beemer Boys Basketball Team defeated Tekamah-Herman 65-24 at home on Saturday.
The Cadets tripled up the Tigers 15-5 in the 1st quarter, and outscored Tekamah-Herman 19-7 in the 2nd quarter to take a 34-12 lead into the locker room.
West Point-Beemer doubled up the Tigers 20-10 in the 3rd quarter to go up 54-22 at the end of three.
The Cadets won the 4th quarter 11-2.
Austin Streeter had 12 points to lead the way while Chase Streeter totaled 10 points and 8 rebounds. Alex Gianella had 9 points while Ben Vander Griend and Tate Ernesti chipped in 8 apiece.
Good strong win for West Point-Beemer. It was good to see the Cadets come out and play another complete game, and win handily.
West Point-Beemer (9-5) battles Twin River (4-9) on the road Friday night.
The Titans lost 41-39 at Cross County last Thursday.
I look for the Cadets to pick up another win Friday night.
West Point-Beemer has won 3 in a row and 5 out of their last 6, and is playing very good basketball right now I would say.
The Cadets have to keep it up and must continue to play at a high level.
West Point-Beemer needs to play well Friday night to gear up for Saturday's game against Logan View/Scribner-Snyder.
The thing the Cadets have to avoid though is looking ahead to the Raiders.
West Point-Beemer has to take things one game and one day at a time, and focus on the current task at hand.
There's a lot of practice and preparation for the Cadets to do before they take the court Friday night so West Point-Beemer has to be sharp in practice this week.
I look for the Cadets to play a good game Friday night, and challenge Logan View/Scribner-Snyder on Saturday.
West Point-Beemer gets the Raiders at home so the Cadets should have a better chance to pick up a win than if they were on the road I would think.
West Point-Beemer has to play hard, smart, physical, tenacious, tough, gritty, fiery, smart, passionate, prideful, and aggressive both nights.
These two games are very big for East Husker Conference Tournament seeding.
The Cadets could maybe get a 5 seed by picking up two wins this weekend.
On Saturday, West Point-Beemer has to try and slow down Ben Moxness and Jacob Polk.
Those two are the team leaders for the Raiders, and have done a lot of the scoring and damage for LVSS this season.
Twin River always comes to play hard and tough so that game doesn't figure to be a cakewalk, but I would think the Cadets will win.
Saturday could be a different story, but given the way West Point-Beemer is playing right now I would say anything is possible.
The West Point-Beemer Girls Basketball Team picked up their 7th win in a row on Saturday, knocking off Tekamah-Herman 54-12 at home on Saturday.
The Cadets led 14-3 after one before outscoring the Tigers 13-2 in the 2nd quarter to take a 27-5 lead into the locker room.
West Point-Beemer outscored Tekamah-Herman 20-4 in the 3rd quarter to go up 47-9 at the end of three.
The Cadets won the 4th quarter 7-3.
Sidney Swanson had a game-high 18 points while Katie Pilakowski scored 10. Brittney Hinkel notched 8 while Abbey Dale scored 7.
Very good win for West Point-Beemer. The Cadets clicked on offense and played suffocating defense.
West Point-Beemer (11-4) has a big game Friday night at Twin River (10-4).
The Titans won 46-38 at Cross County last Thursday night.
This figures to be a close game, but I think the Cadets will find a way to win it.
Twin River is a solid team, but I'm not sure they play the caliber of competition West Point-Beemer plays.
Plus the Cadets are on a roll having won 7 in a row as I mentioned.
This game with the Titans and Saturday's game against Logan View/Scribner-Snyder are huge for East Husker Conference Tournament seeding.
I think West Point-Beemer stands a good chance to earn a 3 or 4 seed for the East Husker Conference Tournament, and figures to make some noise in that tournament.
The Cadets are playing great basketball right now, and need to keep the ball rolling Friday night.
I think Friday's game will be difficult and challenging in many ways, but I think West Point-Beemer will find a way to win and get the job done.
Where there's a will there's a way, and I think the Cadets will be able to muster a little more offense than the Titans.
This game could definitely be decided in the 30's or 40's, but I look for West Point-Beemer to win a close game.
LVSS figures to give the Cadets their best shot on Saturday.
The Raiders are doing some nice things this year, and so West Point-Beemer has to be ready for LVSS as well.
The last thing the Cadets can afford to do is have a letdown on Saturday.
West Point-Beemer should be fine though, and a 9-game winning streak heading into Pierce and Wayne next week would be huge.
Next week is big for the Cadets too, but West Point-Beemer has to worry about this week first, and in particular, Twin River Friday night.
It should be a great battle between the Cadets and Titans, and I fully expect that contest to come down to the wire.
