Wisner-Pilger Boys win at Humphrey/Lindsay Holy Family; Girls lose

The Wisner-Pilger Boys Basketball Team won 63-41 at Humphrey/Lindsay Holy Family Tuesday night.

The Gators jumped out to an 18-3 lead at the end of one, and won the 2nd quarter 14-9 to build a 32-12 halftime lead.

Wisner-Pilger outscored the Bulldogs 18-11 in the 3rd quarter to lead 50-23 at the end of three.

Humphrey/Lindsay Holy Family won the 4th quarter 18-13.

Good, solid, strong win for the Gators in this one. I thought Wisner-Pilger did a nice job bouncing back from the loss to West Point-Beemer.

The Gators (9-3) host Howells-Dodge (8-6) Friday night.

The Jaguars are coming off a 59-29 home win over Plainview on Saturday.

Howells-Dodge has been very up and down this year while Wisner-Pilger has been pretty consistent.

This is a big game as these two teams could very well meet again in the East Husker Conference Tournament and in Sub-Districts.

Both teams really need this one, and I think it would be a big deal for the Gators to pick up their 10th win of the season.

I look for Wisner-Pilger to come out and play well, and have a strong showing Friday night.

I think the Gators will build off of what they did on Tuesday, and turn in a good, solid performance.

Wisner-Pilger has to be firing on all pistons and cylinders, and has to get Gunner Labenz, Hunter Waterman, Jayden Raabe, and Keegan Ruskamp, and others, as involved as possible.

I would imagine these 4 have led the Gators all year long, and have been very valuable members of the team.

Wisner-Pilger has to try and slow down Connor Blum, Lane Hegemann, Ryan Macholan, Dax VanLengen, and others.

The Jaguars have a lot of talent and potential, and I look for this game to be close and highly entertaining.

I think the fact that Wisner-Pilger has been more consistent and is at home gives them the advantage, but anything can happen, and Howells-Dodge is certainly capable of winning.

It should be a good game, and this is a really big weekend for the Gators in terms of East Husker Conference Tournament seeding.

Wisner-Pilger is at Logan View/Scribner-Snyder on Saturday, and needs to play well in both games to come away with two victories this weekend, in my opinion.

Only the Gators' best effort will yield them two wins and get them to where they want this season.

Wisner-Pilger figures to be in line for a high seed in the Conference Tournament, but the Gators have to keep their foot on the petal, and keep winning.

Wisner-Pilger has to play tenacious D and really get after things on the offensive end as well.

The Wisner-Pilger Girls Basketball Team lost 56-42 at Humphrey/Lindsay Holy Family Tuesday night.

The Gators held a 10-9 advantage at the end of one before the Bulldogs outscored Wisner-Pilger 17-9 in the 2nd quarter to take a 26-19 lead into the locker room.

Humphrey/Lindsay Holy Family outscored the Gators 17-9 in the 3rd quarter to go up 43-28 at the end of three.

Wisner-Pilger won the 4th quarter 14-13.

Another tough loss for the Gators, who have now lost 4 out of their last 5.

Wisner-Pilger (4-9) hosts Howells-Dodge (6-7) Friday night.

The Jaguars are coming off a 39-30 loss at home to Lutheran High Northeast Tuesday night.

Howells-Dodge has also been up and down this season and struggled as of late as the Jaguars have dropped 3 out of their last 4.

This is a game between two teams who could really use a win.

The Gators could really use a win in the biggest way.

Wisner-Pilger has been without Alexis Heller from what I understand, and that appears to have really hurt the Gators.

I don't think Wisner-Pilger is that bad of a team, it's just the Gators have lost to some good teams for the most part.

I think the Gators were playing better basketball at the start of the season, and have struggled since the 2nd game of the Holiday Tournament, most likely due to the injury of Heller.

I think Wisner-Pilger played decent basketball against the Bulldogs though so perhaps that loss is something to build off of.

I look for the Gators to come out and play a strong game Friday night.

Wisner-Pilger has to rally around one another, and come out and play a good game.

The Gators have to play with the drive, determination, passion, tenacity, pride, grit, fire, and mental and physical toughness to get this thing turned around.

Wisner-Pilger has Logan View/Scribner-Snyder on Saturday before a gauntlet of games around the East Husker Conference Tournament so the Gators need to find a way to pick things up and get things figured out this weekend.

Jordan Wegner, Maci Batenhorst, Karrin Jindra, Ariel Meyer, Aspin Waterman, Cassidy Gooch, and others need to play well for the Gators.

I look for Wisner-Pilger to compete at a very high level against Howells-Dodge, and turn in a good showing.

The Gators really need to play well with Conference Tournament seeding to be decided soon.

Both teams have been inconsistent and lost to some great teams this season so this should be a pretty even game at least on paper.
