North Bend Central Boys and Girls beat Milford; take 3rd at own Holiday Tournament

The North Bend Central Boys Basketball Team won 61-49 at Milford on Friday, December 22nd before losing 67-57 to Omaha Concordia in the 1st round of the North Bend Holiday Tournament on Friday. The Tigers rebounded to beat Nebraska City 58-11 in Saturday's consolation game.

John Emanuel had 24 points against the Eagles while Tanner Wietfeld totaled 18.

North Bend Central led the Mustangs 15-14 after one before Omaha Concordia outscored the Tigers 20-6 in the 2nd quarter to take a 34-21 lead into the locker room.

The Mustangs won the 3rd quarter 18-14 to go up 52-35 at the end of three.

North Bend Central outscored Omaha Concordia 22-15 in the 4th quarter.

Wietfeld had 19 points while Emanuel and Austin Endorf posted 17 and 11, respectively.

The Tigers shutout the Pioneers 11-0 in the 1st quarter. North Bend Central outscored Nebraska City 16-2 in the 2nd quarter to take a 27-2 lead into the locker room.

The Tigers won the 3rd quarter 17-5 to go up 44-7 at the end of three, and outscored the Pioneers 14-4 in the 4th quarter.

Wietfeld had 16 points while James Seymour and Emanuel posted 10 apiece. Chase Ruzicka added 8.

Great win for North Bend Central against Milford. Tough loss to Omaha Concordia.

The Tigers (7-1) host Logan View/Scribner-Snyder (7-2) Friday night.

LVSS lost the Omaha Brownell-Talbot Holiday Tournament Championship to Elmwood-Murdock on Saturday, falling 46-29.

The Raiders have been led all season long by Ben Moxness and Jacob Polk.

Those two have been the glue to the team this season, and have led LVSS in a big way.

Emanuel, Wietfeld, Endorf, Seymour, and Ruzicka are good players in their own right though.

I think defense will be critical in this game.

Both teams defend very well.

There's a lot of talent, size, and speed on both squads, and this should be a great, entertaining, compelling, and exciting game.

I think the team that starts and finishes the game the best is going to win.

North Bend Central has to start fast, build a lead, and force the Raiders to play from behind.

The Tigers have to get in the face of Polk and Moxness, and make them uncomfortable.

Moxness only had 7 points against the Knights so North Bend Central has to take a page out of Elmwood-Murdock's book when it comes to guarding Moxness.

These two teams could very well meet again this season so it will be interesting to see who wins Round 1.

Both teams are great, and could very well end up reaching the state tournament.

It should be an exciting and electric atmosphere.

The Tigers have to come out ready to smash because you know LVSS is going to bring it.

North Bend Central has to match the Raiders' intensity level, and work harder and want it more than LVSS.

If last year is any indication of how Friday night's game is going to go then fans are in for a real treat.

This is the Tigers' only game this week so North Bend Central should be able to focus in on LVSS without having to worry about another team or game.

The Tigers just have to go out there and let it rip.

The North Bend Central Girls Basketball Team is also 2-1 in their last three games, beating Milford 39-31 on the road on Friday, December 22nd, losing 60-53 in overtime on Friday to Omaha Concordia in the 1st round of the North Bend Holiday Tournament, before beating Omaha Duchesne 52-33 in the 3rd place game on Saturday.

The Eagles held an 11-8 lead on the Tigers after one. North Bend Central outscored Milford 14-9 in the 2nd quarter to go up 22-20 at halftime.

The Tigers won the 3rd quarter 6-4 to go up 28-24 at the end of three.

North Bend Central scored 11 points in the 4th quarter and held the Eagles to 7.

The Mustangs led the Tigers 19-11 after one. Omaha Concordia won the 2nd quarter 10-8 to lead 29-19 at halftime.

North Bend Central won the 3rd quarter 17-14 to make it a 43-36 game at the end of three.

The Tigers outscored the Mustangs 16-9 in the 4th quarter to tie the game at 52 and send it into overtime.

Omaha Concordia outlasted North Bend Central 8-1 in the extra session.

The Cardinals led the Tigers 9-8 after one. North Bend Central doubled up Omaha Duchesne 10-5 in the 2nd quarter to take an 18-14 lead into the locker room.

The Tigers outscored the Cardinals 15-11 in the 3rd quarter to go up 33-25 at the end of three.

North Bend Central outscored Omaha Duchesne 19-8 in the 4th quarter.

The Tigers are playing pretty good basketball right now overall. The Omaha Concordia loss wasn't too bad of a loss, in my opinion.

North Bend Central (7-2) hosts Logan View/Scribner-Snyder (3-6) Friday night.

LVSS won 37-14 over Fort Calhoun in the 3rd place game of the Omaha Brownell-Talbot Holiday Tournament on Saturday.

The Raiders are an improved team, in my opinion, but the Tigers should still be able to win.

I don't know if LVSS has anyone that can slow down Brooke Fredrickson or Kristin Lux.

If I'm the Raiders I'm packing it in and forcing North Bend Central to shoot from the outside.

The Tigers also have to be good on defense, and must try and slow down and limit the likes of Ashley Peters, Kaylee Boyle, Valerie Uehling, and Shaylin Daugherty.

North Bend Central has to pound the rock inside and be physical with LVSS.

The Tigers have to play suffocating defense, and create turnovers and steals.

North Bend Central has to play tight pressure defense and guard the ball tightly.

Boxing out and rebounding well will be critical as well, in my opinion.

The Tigers have to play with attitude, fire, tenacity, intensity, mental and physical toughness, drive, grit, passion, and pride.

North Bend Central has to get out to a big lead and force the Raiders to play from behind.

LVSS isn't exactly equipped to comeback from large deficits so if the Tigers can build a big lead they could be golden.

North Bend Central has to go out there and have fun, and be ready to smash for 4 quarters.

This is one of those games where the starters should get some good work in, but the bench players should all see the floor too.

This is a good game to get everyone valuable varsity experience for the future.

The Tigers have to avoid scoring in the 30's or lower.

The Raiders nearly beat Twin River in a low scoring affair so this game isn't necessarily a given or a gimme for North Bend Central.

The Tigers have to be focused, and must go out there and earn the win.

LVSS isn't just going to hand over the game to North Bend Central.
