Wisner-Pilger Boys 3-2 in last five games; Girls 2-4 in last six

The Wisner-Pilger Boys Basketball Team is 3-2 in their last five games, downing Stanton 67-42 on the road on Thursday, December 21st, defeating Neligh-Oakdale 66-28 in the first round of the Great Northeast Nebraska Shootout in Wisner last Thursday, falling 88-61 to Winnebago in the semifinals of the Shootout last Friday, and beating Pierce 54-37 for third place last Saturday before losing 48-43 at West Point-Beemer Friday night.

The Gators led the Mustangs 15-10 after one. Wisner-Pilger won the 2nd quarter 13-10 to take a 28-20 lead into the locker room.

The Gators outscored Stanton 20-8 in the 3rd quarter to go up 48-28 at the end of three.

Wisner-Pilger won the 4th quarter 19-14.

The Gators got up on the Warriors 18-7, and outscored Neligh-Oakdale 22-7 in the 2nd quarter to take a 40-14 lead at halftime.

Wisner-Pilger outscored the Warriors 14-4 in the 3rd quarter to go up 54-18 at the end of three before winning the 4th quarter 12-10.

The Indians jumped on the Gators 26-6 at the end of one. Wisner-Pilger won the 2nd quarter 18-17 to make it a 43-24 game at halftime.

The Indians won the 3rd quarter 18-17 to push the lead back up to 20 at 61-41 at the end of three.

Winnebago outscored the Gators 27-20 in the 4th quarter.

Wisner-Pilger jumped out to a 13-6 lead on the Bluejays at the end of one. Pierce won the 3rd quarter 13-10 to make it a 23-19 game in favor of the Gators at halftime.

Wisner-Pilger won the 3rd quarter 13-12 to go up 36-31 after three before tripling up the Bluejays 18-6 in the 4th quarter.

The Cadets outscored the Gators 15-9 in both the 1st and 2nd quarters to lead 30-18 at halftime.

Wisner-Pilger outscored West Point-Beemer 17-9 in the 3rd quarter to make it a 39-35 game at the end of three.

The Cadets won the 4th quarter 9-8.

The Gators have been playing pretty good basketball as of late I would say although I'm sure Wisner-Pilger would of liked to have beaten West Point-Beemer.

The Gators (8-3) take on Humphrey/Lindsay Holy Family (7-4) on the road Tuesday night.

The Bulldogs lost 49-47 in overtime at Riverside Friday night.

Humphrey/Lindsay Holy Family is led by the likes of Ashton Dohmen and Bret Hanis.

The Bulldogs had a 6-game winning streak snapped by Randolph last Saturday, and have now dropped two in a row.

Humphrey/Lindsay Holy Family isn't a bad team, but the Bulldogs have struggled against teams with winning records.

I look for Wisner-Pilger to go in there, and pick up a big win Tuesday night.

I think the Gators will be upset and motivated by the fact they lost to the Cadets Friday night.

West Point-Beemer is a better team than Humphrey/Lindsay Holy Family I would say so Wisner-Pilger should be able to beat the Bulldogs one would think.

The Gators need big games from Keegan Ruskamp, Jayden Raabe, Gunner Labenz, Hunter Waterman, and others.

Wisner-Pilger's offense has to be better and more efficient than it was against West Point-Beemer.

The Gators have to play a better 1st half on Tuesday than they did on Friday.

Wisner-Pilger played a strong second half against the Cadets, but getting down by 12 at halftime ultimately proved to be too much for the Gators to come back from.

Wisner-Pilger has a big week next week with games against Howells-Dodge and Logan View/Scribner-Snyder later in the week so the Gators have to be ready to rock and roll every night.

Wisner-Pilger should be disappointed by the fact they lost to a rival in West Point-Beemer, but not let it get them down too much and be able to regroup Tuesday night.

I look for the Gators to respond in a big way Tuesday night.

I think fans will see a very hungry and determined Wisner-Pilger squad take the floor.

I look the Gators to win by 10-15 at least, maybe more.

The Wisner-Pilger Girls Basketball Team is 2-4 in their last six contests, falling 51-39 at Stanton on Thursday, December 21st, beating Neligh-Oakdale 69-24 in the 1st round of the Shootout on the Elkhorn at Wisner last Thursday, losing 52-42 to Battle Creek in the semifinals last Friday, and falling 63-33 to Pierce in the 3rd place game last Saturday, before winning 55-35 at home over Madison Thursday night, and losing 67-30 at West Point-Beemer Friday night.

The Mustangs led the Gators 14-4 at the end of one. Stanton outscored Wisner-Pilger 13-10 in the 2nd quarter to build a 27-14 lead at halftime.

The Mustangs won the 3rd quarter 11-10 to go up 38-24 at the end of three.

The Gators put up 15 points in the 4th quarter compared to 13 for Stanton.

Wisner-Pilger led the Warriors 21-9 at the end of one before outscoring Neligh-Oakdale 15-4 in the 2nd quarter to take a 36-13 lead into the locker room.

The Gators outscored the Warriors 24-5 in the 3rd quarter to go up 60-18 at the end of three.

Wisner-Pilger won the 4th quarter 9-6.

The Braves jumped out to a 17-8 lead and won the 2nd quarter 10-8 to go up 27-16 at halftime.

The Gators outscored Battle Creek 13-8 in the 3rd quarter to make it a 35-29 game at the end of three.

The Braves won the 4th quarter 17-13.

The Bluejays jumped on Wisner-Pilger 20-3 after one, and won the 2nd quarter 14-12 to go up 34-15 at halftime.

Pierce outscored the Gators 27-8 in the 3rd quarter to extend the lead to 38 at 61-23 at the end of three.

Wisner-Pilger outscored the Bluejays 10-2 in the 4th quarter.

The Gators led the Dragons 21-13 at the end of one. Madison won the 2nd quarter 6-5 to make it a 26-19 game at halftime.

Wisner-Pilger outscored the Dragons 15-9 in the 3rd quarter to go up 41-28 at the end of three.

The Gators doubled up Madison 14-7 in the 4th quarter.

The Cadets jumped out to a 15-6 lead on Wisner-Pilger, and won the 2nd quarter 9-6 to take a 24-12 lead into the locker room.

West Point-Beemer outscored the Gators 23-5 in the 3rd quarter to go up 47-17 at the end of three.

The Cadets won the 4th quarter 20-13.

Wisner-Pilger has been kind of up and down recently you could say. The Gators play well at times, but get blown out at others.

Wisner-Pilger (4-8) takes on Humphrey/Lindsay Holy Family (10-2) on the road Tuesday night.

The Bulldogs are coming off a 48-35 win at Riverside Friday night.

I think this game is going to be closer than it appears it would be on paper.

Humphrey/Lindsay Holy Family hasn't been as strong in their last two games as they were before those contests, in my opinion.

It should be an interesting game.

I think the Gators will come out and play inspired and better than they did against the Cadets Friday night.

Whether Wisner-Pilger's efforts yield them a win remains to be seen, but I fully expect the Gators to hold their own Tuesday night.

It's a busy week for Wisner-Pilger with Howells-Dodge on Friday and Logan View/Scribner-Snyder on Saturday.

I think the Gators have a chance to be very competitive next week, and should at least be able to keep things close each night.

I must say I was surprised by the manner in which West Point-Beemer beat Wisner-Pilger.

I thought the game would be a lot closer being a rivalry game, but I was wrong.

It's something that should motivate and make the Gators flat out upset.

Wisner-Pilger has to do something about it with their play in the future.

The result of the game can never be changed, but the Gators can control their play this coming week and after.

It will be interesting to see how well Wisner-Pilger responds to adversity.

The Gators were punched in the mouth Friday night. Now how do they respond? That will be interesting to see and remains to be seen.
