Clarkson/Leigh Boys and Girls knock off Elgin/Public Pope John

The Clarkson/Leigh Boys Basketball Team beat Elgin/Public Pope John 61-50 on the road Tuesday night.

The Patriots led 19-12 after one, and won the 2nd quarter 11-7 to take a 31-19 lead into the locker room.

The Wolfpack outscored Clarkson/Leigh 15-7 in the 3rd quarter to make it a 38-34 game at the end of three.

The Patriots outscored Elgin/Public Pope John 23-16 in the 4th quarter.

Daniel Beller had 22 points while Haden Held and Anthony Bruhn registered 12 and 10, respectively. Tommy McEvoy chipped in 8.

Great win for Clarkson/Leigh. The Patriots have really picked up their game lately.

Clarkson/Leigh (2-11) hosts Twin River (4-10) Thursday night.

The Titans lost 45-34 at Wisner-Pilger Tuesday night.

Twin River has lost 3 in a row, and I fully expect the Patriots to come out and challenge the Titans in a big way.

I think Clarkson/Leigh can definitely win this one. I don't think there's any doubt the Patriots are capable of pulling out the win.

Beller has been a stud for Clarkson/Leigh all season, and Bruhn, Garrett Schroeder, and Held are having nice years too. McEvoy has come on strong since his return to the Patriot lineup.

I think Clarkson/Leigh is playing their best basketball and peaking at the right time.

I feel the sky is the limit for this team, and feel the Patriots will only get better before season's end.

Clarkson/Leigh has to come out fired up and energized Thursday night.

The Patriots have to take the fight to the Titans, and give them all they want and then some.

Clarkson/Leigh has to continue to be effective and efficient on offense.

I feel the Patriots have been a better team offensively than they were prior to the Tekamah-Herman game.

It seems like the win over the Tigers and getting McEvoy on the floor has really given this team new life.

Clarkson/Leigh has to ride the hot play and momentum into Thursday night's game, and do everything they can to pick up another win.

Wins have been hard to come by this year for the Patriots, but I feel Clarkson/Leigh is starting to turn the corner and play their best basketball of the season.

The Patriots have to keep it up, and remain humble and hungry.

Clarkson/Leigh can't be cocky or complacent with where they're at. The Patriots have to want more, and must keep pushing and grinding.

I feel Clarkson/Leigh has a great chance at a win Thursday night.

I could also see Twin River winning, but I feel the Patriots will give the Titans a great game at the very least.

The Clarkson/Leigh Girls Basketball Team also defeated Elgin/Public Pope John, winning 42-32 on the road Tuesday night.

The Patriots raced out to a 15-8 lead after one, and won the 2nd quarter 6-5 to make it a 21-13 game at halftime.

The Wolfpack outscored Clarkson/Leigh 11-8 in the 3rd quarter to cut the deficit to 5 at 29-24 at the end of three.

The Patriots outscored Elgin/Public Pope John 13-8 in the 4th quarter.

Halee Steffensmeier had a team-high 13 points while Paige Moore and Kaegan Held notched 9 and 8, respectively.

Great win for Clarkson/Leigh. This was a huge win for the Patriots.

Clarkson/Leigh (10-4) hosts Twin River (11-4) Thursday night.

The Titans won 36-34 at Wisner-Pilger Tuesday night.

The Patriots beat Twin River last year, and this should be another great, defensive oriented game.

I think the tough schedule and competition Clarkson/Leigh plays gives them a great chance to win this one, but nothing figures to come easy.

This is a big week for the Patriots with Lutheran High Northeast coming on Friday as well, and conference seeding is definitely on the line.

I feel Clarkson/Leigh has a great chance to do something in the Conference Tournament, and could be the team to pull an upset. A darkhorse you could say.

The Patriots are a very dangerous team, and can beat anyone they step on the floor against, in my opinion.

Clarkson/Leigh definitely won't be scared of Twin River having already beaten them once last year.

This should be a very strong and good defensive oriented game.

Both teams should really get after things defensively and play suffocating defense.

Scoring could be at a premium in this game so every shot, every free throw, every lay up is important.

The Patriots have to value the basketball and work it around for good shots.

Clarkson/Leigh has to take care of the ball and force turnovers.

The Patriots have to control pacing of the game play to their strengths.

Clarkson/Leigh has to grind things out and play great defense like they have all year.

I feel the Patriots will be able to grind better than the Titans having already done it so many times this year against great teams.

Twin River is a good team, but I just don't know if the Titans have seen the same type of competition and teams that Clarkson/Leigh has.

That's why I like the Patriots to win. That and Clarkson/Leigh is at home and won last year's games.

Those are all reasons why I think the Patriots will find a way to pick up the win.
