Logan View/Scribner-Snyder Boys beat Wisner-Pilger; Girls lose to Gators
The Logan View/Scribner-Snyder Boys Basketball Team won 58-48 at home over Wisner-Pilger on Saturday.
The Raiders led 13-10 after one, and outscored the Gators 20-13 in the 2nd quarter to take a 33-23 lead into the locker room.
LVSS won the 3rd quarter 15-7 to go up 48-30 at the end of three.
Wisner-Pilger outscored the Raiders 18-10 in the 4th quarter.
Ben Moxness had 29 points while Jacob Polk scored 13.
Huge win for Logan View/Scribner-Snyder. The wins just keep on coming for the Raiders.
LVSS (11-2) plays host to Arlington (4-10) Tuesday night in action that can be heard on 107.9 the Bull.
The Eagles lost 54-36 at Syracuse on Saturday.
Arlington is a better team than their record would indicate, in my opinion, but the Raiders should still win this one.
I look for LVSS to win anywhere from 20-25 points, and pick up their 12th win of the season.
The Raiders have this game with the Eagles on Tuesday, Raymond Central on Thursday, and West Point-Beemer on Saturday.
I think LVSS has a great chance to go 3-0 this week, but the game with the Cadets figures to be tough.
The Arlington game could be difficult too as the Eagles gave the Raiders a tough game in sub-districts last year.
It appears as if LVSS is better then last season and Arlington isn't as strong as last year so I like the Raiders to win this one comfortably, but LVSS still has to come out ready to play a great game.
The Raiders can't take the Eagles lightly or for granted, especially given how tough Arlington played LVSS last year.
No one can be taken for granted, and everyone has to be respected.
The Raiders have to come ready to play like they have all year.
If LVSS does that they should be fine.
This is a big night for reasons other than basketball.
This is also the launching of the Logan View High School Teammates Mentoring Program.
This is a big night for all, and I look for it to be a good and successful night for both the basketball team and the Teammates Mentoring Program.
Getting back to basketball, the Raiders all but have the top seed locked up in the East Husker Conference Tournament, but LVSS has to keep playing well.
The Raiders need to keep winning to give themselves a shot at making state with a wildcard.
Tuesday night's game can be heard on the Bull after the Girls game, which is scheduled to start at 6:00 p.m.
The Logan View/Scribner-Snyder Girls Basketball Team lost 56-48 at home in overtime to Wisner-Pilger on Saturday.
The Gators held a 6-4 lead on the Raiders at the end of one. LVSS outscored Wisner-Pilger 17-12 in the 2nd quarter to take a 21-18 lead into the locker room.
The Gators won the 3rd quarter 8-5 to tie the game at 26 after three.
Both teams scored 17 points in the 4th quarter, and the game was tied at 43 at the end of regulation.
Wisner-Pilger outlasted the Raiders 13-5 in the extra session.
Kaylee Boyle led the way with 17 points while Shaylin Daugherty notched 12 points and 13 rebounds, good enough for a double-double. Valerie Uehling registered 9 points.
Great game by LVSS. I thought the Raiders played exceptionally well despite the loss.
LVSS (4-9) hosts Arlington (8-7) Tuesday night in a game that will be heard on 107.9 the Bull.
The Eagles won 47-44 at Syracuse in overtime on Saturday.
Arlington has lost to some good teams this year, and appear to be a force to be reckoned with.
I think the Eagles are a much better team than their 8-7 record shows.
This figures to be a tough game for the Raiders, but given how LVSS played on Saturday I think the Raiders have a chance to be competitive in this one.
LVSS has to come in with sky high confidence, and has to go out there and get after things.
I thought the Raiders played well offensively against the Gators, and that's a trend that has to continue for LVSS to be successful Tuesday night.
The Raiders can definitely keep this one close and interesting, and perhaps win it, in my opinion.
I feel LVSS is making great and tremendous strides in their program, and this game will be a reflection and culmination of that.
I look for Boyle, Daugherty, Uehling, Morgan Morgan, and others to have big games offensively for the Raiders.
I think LVSS has a chance to breakout in this game and do great things.
These girls just have to believe in themselves and in one another, and come out and play hard, smart, physical, aggressive, mentally and physically tough, gritty, and tenacious.
The Raiders have to come out inspired and on fire, and have to be ready to take it to Arlington for 4 quarters.
This is a big game for LVSS as these two could very well meet again in Sub-Districts.
The Raiders have to try and get the mental edge in this game by winning.
If LVSS can get this one I think it will give them the confidence necessary to beat the Eagles in the postseason.
I think if the Raiders can even at least keep this one close it could have the same effect as a win for LVSS.
Tuesday night's game will start at 6:00 p.m. on the Bull with pregame at around 5:45 or 5:50. I look forward to bringing you the call of this one.
