BRLD Boys down Logan View/Scribner-Snyder; Girls down Raiders then take care of business against Homer in Sub-Districts

The BRLD Boys Basketball Team got revenge on Logan View/Scribner-Snyder Friday night, winning 69-62 on the road.

The Wolverines led 20-16 after one, and outscored the Raiders 20-11 in the 2nd quarter to take a 40-27 lead into the locker room.

BRLD won the 3rd quarter 14-11 to go up 54-38 at the end of three.

LVSS outscored the Wolverines 24-15 in the 4th quarter.

Darwin Snyder led all scorers with 23 points while Trent Gatewood notched 14. Kenyan Lovejoy and Lucas Vogt added 12 apiece.

Humongous win for the Wolverines.

BRLD (20-2) travels to Pender to take on the Pendragons (9-13) Friday night.

Pender won 53-44 at home over Madison Monday night.

The Pendragons have won 3 in a row after dropping 6 straight.

Pender has certainly picked things up, and you know they will be fired up with it being their last home game of the season.

This is the final home game for the Pendragon seniors, and I'm sure they would like to go out with a win.

The Wolverines probably have other ideas though, and are probably thinking big picture.

Big picture is win this one by a lot to continue the string of momentum BRLD is currently riding.

The Wolverines are 15-1 in their last 16 games.

Jaxon Johnson has to be a factor on the inside, and has to try and defend and slow down Sam Mailoux the best he can.

Mailoux is a great player, and can definitely take over a game at any given time, but I think BRLD has the type of team and capability to slow him down.

I fully expect the Wolverines to come out and play good, strong fundamental basketball, and do what they do best, which is get out in transition and run.

Don't be surprised if BRLD wins this one big.

Pender is a nice, solid team, but the Wolverines are a great team.

I'm sure BRLD has huge state aspirations and such, and I look for the Wolverines to handle their business Friday night.

The game doesn't really help BRLD in terms of power points, but a win would be another notch in the belt for the Wolverines.

BRLD is very young and very talented, and that has allowed the Wolverines to do great and scary things this season.

It's almost like the Wolverines don't know any better.

I think we'll see BRLD at their best Friday night, and in the postseason, however far the Wolverines go.

The BRLD Girls Basketball Team won 63-44 at Logan View/Scribner-Snyder to end the regular season Friday night before downing Homer 64-52 in the C2-3 Sub-District Semifinals at West Point-Beemer Tuesday night.

The Wolverines led the Raiders 20-14 after one, and outscored LVSS 14-1 in the 2nd quarter to take a 34-15 lead into the locker room.

BRLD won the 3rd quarter 18-16 to go up 52-31 at the end of three.

The Raiders won the 4th quarter 13-11.

Paige Peters had a team-high 15 points while Vicki Gatzemeyer notched 11. Tiahna Bonneau added 10, and Sophia Henneman totaled 9.

The Wolverines held a 16-15 lead on the Knights at the end of one. BRLD won the 2nd quarter 15-13 to take a 31-28 lead into the locker room.

Both teams scored 11 points in the 3rd quarter, and the score after 3 was 42-39 in favor of BRLD.

The Wolverines outscored the Knights 22-13 in the 4th quarter.

Bonneau posted 21 points while Peters had 17. Gatzemeyer contributed 9 while Caragan Tietz chipped in 8.

Close call for BRLD Tuesday night, but the Wolverines came through when it mattered the most, in the 4th quarter.

BRLD (20-4) takes on Oakland-Craig (12-10) in the C2-3 Sub-District Final at West Point-Beemer Thursday night.

The Knights won 44-42 over Omaha Nation in the Sub-District Semifinals Tuesday night.

The Wolverines beat Oakland-Craig 69-39 in Lyons on January 12th.

I look for this game to be much different than that one though.

BRLD has to be on their game offensively and defensively.

The Wolverines have to try and slow down Natalia McNeill and others.

Oakland-Craig has been a different team since getting her back, and have to be considered a force to be reckoned with even without Dacey Nelson and Kennedy Benne.

The Knights aren't done yet, and BRLD has to realize that their hopes of going to state could end if they lose Thursday night as a wildcard may not be likely.

Gatzemeyer has to go off for the Wolverines, and show why she is one of the best players in the area.

Peters and Bonneau need to have big games too. The whole team does as a matter of fact.

BRLD has to play their tails off Thursday night, and leave everything out on the floor.

The Wolverines are definitely good enough to win this one, reach a district final, and make state, but it has to be one game at a time for BRLD.

The Wolverines can't be looking ahead to a potential district final with Stanton or Howells-Dodge. BRLD has to get by Oakland-Craig first.

Oakland-Craig cannot be taken lightly or underestimated.

It appears Homer really stepped up their game in sub-districts, and now the Wolverines need to do that Thursday night.

BRLD has to play a great game, and make all their dreams come true.

Tip-off is set for 7:00 p.m. in West Point.

The winner gets either Stanton or Howells-Dodge in a District Final next Friday.
