Emerson-Hubbard Boys and Girls go 0-2 at Lewis and Clark Conference Tournament

The Emerson-Hubbard Boys Basketball Team went 0-2 in the Lewis and Clark Conference Tournament, falling 79-29 at Winnebago Monday night, and 53-36 to Bloomfield at Randolph in a consolation game Thursday night.

The Indians led the Pirates 17-8 after one, and outscored Emerson-Hubbard 30-4 in the 2nd quarter to take a 47-12 lead into the locker room.

Winnebago outscored the Pirates 22-9 in the 3rd quarter to go up 69-21 at the end of three.

The Indians won the 4th quarter 10-8.

The Pirates held a 13-9 lead on the Bees at the end of one. Bloomfield tripled up Emerson-Hubbard 24-8 in the 2nd quarter to take a 33-21 lead into the locker room.

The Bees outscored the Pirates 11-7 in the 3rd quarter to go up 44-28 at the end of three.

Bloomfield won the 4th quarter 9-8.

I thought Emerson-Hubbard played okay against the Bees. The Winnebago loss had to really be a hard one to take after the first matchup between the two teams was closer.

The Pirates (1-17) host Randolph (12-5) Tuesday night.

The Cardinals won 77-67 in overtime in Thursday's Lewis and Clark Conference Tournament Quarterfinals against Walthill at Laurel-Concord-Coleridge.

Randolph has at least one more game left in the conference tournament so it will be interesting to see what a quick turnaround means for the Cardinals in this one.

Emerson-Hubbard ought to be fully rested and ready for Randolph, and I fully expect the Pirates to come out and play a strong game.

I think Emerson-Hubbard did some good things against Bloomfield despite the loss.

The Pirates have 4 regular season games left, and have to make the most of them.

Emerson-Hubbard has to pull themselves together and find a way to play well in this stretch to end the regular season

The Pirates have to keep working hard, battle, and fight the best they can.

Emerson-Hubbard definitely has a couple of winnable games at least before regular season's end so the Pirates have to do their best to pick up another win or two before midnight strikes.

Emerson-Hubbard has to hang tough and keep learning, growing, and persevering the best they can.

It has been a difficult season for the Pirates without a doubt, but Emerson-Hubbard can totally make amends with a run in these next four games, and perhaps that lingers into the postseason.

The Pirates can't throw in the towel, and must keep giving it their all and playing hard until the final whistle blows in each game.

Emerson-Hubbard has to stay positive, and must continue to play hard, smart, aggressive, and must continue to have fun.

Randolph is always good so you can bet the Pirates will have their work cut out for them.

There's no doubt Emerson-Hubbard can give the Cardinals a game though, and play above themselves.

The Pirates simply have to believe in themselves and in each other.

The Emerson-Hubbard Girls Basketball Team also went 0-2 at the Lewis and Clark Conference Tournament, falling 70-28 to Ponca at Osmond in the 1st round on Saturday, and 41-38 to Allen in Tuesday night's consolation game at Wakefield.

The Indians led the Pirates 17-5 after one, and outscored Emerson-Hubbard 22-10 in the 2nd quarter to take a 39-15 lead into the locker room.

Ponca outscored the Pirates 19-7 in the 3rd quarter to extend the lead to 58-22 at the end of three.

The Indians doubled up Emerson-Hubbard 12-6 in the 4th quarter.

Courtney Bokemper had a double-double of 12 points and 10 rebounds while Addison Mackling registered 8 points.

The Pirates got out to an 8-2 lead on the Eagles after one. Allen outscored Emerson-Hubbard 18-12 in the 2nd quarter to tie the game at 20 at halftime.

The Pirates won the 3rd quarter 15-11 to go up 35-31 at the end of three.

The Eagles outscored Emerson-Hubbard 10-3 in the 4th quarter.

Melanie Gentrup had 14 points while Bokemper totaled 10 points and 7 rebounds. Cailin Bokemper contributed 10 rebounds.

Two really tough losses for the Pirates to take without a doubt.

Emerson-Hubbard (4-15) hosts Randolph (14-4) Tuesday night.

The Cardinals won 32-26 over Plainview at Winnebago in Tuesday night's Quarterfinals.

Randolph figures to be tough, and the Pirates are going to need to pick up their play if they want to compete and hang with the Cardinals.

I thought Emerson-Hubbard took some steps back in this tournament.

The Pirates had just beat Allen 41-32 and then turn around and lose to them by 3.

Emerson-Hubbard has to rediscover the form they were playing with prior to the tournament, and play like that the rest of the season.

The Pirates have three games left to end the regular season and then sub-districts so it's important for Emerson-Hubbard to play at a high level the rest of the way.

We're getting down to crunch time, and when things count the most so the Pirates have to raise their level of play the rest of the way.

Emerson-Hubbard has to continue to fight and play hard despite their limited numbers.

The Pirates only have 7 players on the roster as has been mentioned before.

Perhaps the grind of a long season and having a short bench is catching up to and taking it's toll on Emerson-Hubbard.

If that's the case the Pirates have to suck it up and find that extra gear.

There's not a lot of season left so Emerson-Hubbard has to exert every ounce of energy in their body every time they take to the floor.

The Pirates should be worn out, gassed, and very tired after every game.

Emerson-Hubbard has to make sure they're doing everything they can to be competitive and win ball games.

The rest of the regular season is tough for the Pirates, but when the going gets tough, Emerson-Hubbard has to get going.
