Tekamah-Herman Boys conclude regular season with losses to Omaha Brownell-Talbot and Douglas County West; Girls season ends in Sub-District loss to Fort Calhoun

The Tekamah-Herman Boys Basketball Team lost 67-35 at home to Omaha Brownell-Talbot Tuesday night before rounding out the regular season with a 72-36 loss at Douglas County West Friday night.

The Falcons led 27-10 after one, and won the 2nd quarter 13-12 to take a 40-22 lead into the locker room.

DC West won the 3rd quarter 18-10 to go up 58-32 at the end of three.

The Falcons outscored the Tigers 14-4 in the 4th quarter.

Clay Beaumont led Tekamah-Herman with 15 points while Cole Friedel notched 11.

Two more not easy to take losses for the Tigers without a doubt, but it appears Beaumont and Friedel played well offensively so that has to be encouraging for Tekamah-Herman.

The Tigers (0-19) take on Fort Calhoun (6-15) in the C1-4 Sub-District Play-In Game at Oakland-Craig Monday night.

The Pioneers lost 69-23 at North Bend Central Friday night.

Fort Calhoun routed Tekamah-Herman 68-26 in Tekamah on January 18th.

Based on the first meeting things appear to be very difficult for the Tigers once again.

Anything can happen at this time of the year though, and Tekamah-Herman has to be optimistic and must fight as hard as they can to continue their season.

What a time it would be for the Tigers to pick up their first win of the season.

Winning on Monday doesn't look like it's going to be a small task by any means, but anyone can be beaten on any given night.

Tekamah-Herman has to play like there's no tomorrow because if the Tigers lose there won't be a tomorrow for their season.

Tekamah-Herman has to fight as hard as they possibly can, and try and put forth their best game and effort of the year.

If the Tigers could just compete and make things close I think that would be a promising sign heading into next season.

Tekamah-Herman has to fight hard until the very end, and play with the heart of a champion.

The Tigers have to save their best for last, and put things all together Monday night.

All it takes is one game, one win to keep the season going.

It's last chance time for Tekamah-Herman, and the Tigers have to make this one really count.

Tip-off is set for 7:00 p.m.

The winner gets Logan View/Scribner-Snyder in the Sub-District Semifinals at 6:00 p.m. Tuesday night.

The Tekamah-Herman Girls Basketball Team saw their year come to an end Monday night when the Tigers lost 34-33 to Fort Calhoun in the C1-4 Sub-District Play-In-Game at Oakland-Craig.

The Pioneers went up 8-6 after one before Tekamah-Herman won the 2nd quarter 11-10 to make it an 18-17 game at halftime.

The Tigers won the 3rd quarter 8-7 to tie the game at 25 at the end of three.

Fort Calhoun outlasted Tekamah-Herman 9-8 in the 4th quarter.

Marin Jetensky had 20 points and 20 rebounds to lead the Tigers in her final game in a Tekamah-Herman uniform.

I'm sure losing to the Pioneers in the Play-In-Game is something the Tigers wanted to avoid for sure.

Tekamah-Herman ends the season at 6-17.

It was a tough and slow start to the season for the Tigers, who began the year with 0-6 and 1-8 records.

I felt Tekamah-Herman got better as the year went on though, and played their best basketball at the end of December and in January.

The Tigers sort of fell off after beating Fort Calhoun in the regular season though as Tekamah-Herman dropped their final 5 games.

Jetensky, Gabby Mercier, Ashley Bohannon, Grace Garcia, and Megan Olson are all lost to graduation.

All of these players meant a lot to and had an impact on Tiger basketball without a doubt.

Key returners for next year's team include Anna Wakehouse, Jadyn Fleischman, Maggie Sheets, and Maggie Braniff.

I look for Wakehouse and Fleischman to really take control next year and be leaders.

New players and leaders are going to need to emerge, and I feel those two have a chance to do great things next season.

They figure to be Tekamah-Herman's two best and most experienced players next season barring any talented incoming freshman who might contribute greatly as well.

I think the Tigers need to build around these two, and each player needs to have a fantastic offseason.

Tekamah-Herman needs to improve in all facets of the game, and has to get faster, stronger, and more physical.

I feel the Tigers have a chance to be better next year than they were this year.

Replacing Jetensky won't be easy, but I'm sure Fleischman or someone else will pick up the slack from a scoring and rebounding standpoint.

Tekamah-Herman has to play as much basketball as they can this offseason.

I know a lot of these girls play multiple sports, but the more basketball the Tigers play, the more successful they will be in 2018-2019.

Tekamah-Herman figures to be young next year so it will be interesting to see what kind of season they have.
