West Point-Beemer Boys 1-1 in last two games; Girls 2-1 in last three

The West Point-Beemer Boys Basketball Team is 1-1 in their last two contests, falling 51-47 at Wisner-Pilger in a Silver Bracket Consolation Game of the East Husker Conference Tournament Friday night, before tearing apart Madison 60-14 on the road Tuesday night.

Wisner-Pilger led West Point-Beemer 8-6 after one. The Cadets won the 2nd quarter 16-15 to make it a 23-22 game at halftime in favor of the Gators.

Wisner-Pilger outscored West Point-Beemer 15-7 in the 3rd quarter to go up 38-29 at the end of three.

The Cadets outscored the Gators 18-13 in the 4th quarter.

Chase Streeter led the way with 20 points while Austin Streeter and Tate Ernesti notched 7 points apiece.

West Point-Beemer held a 12-10 lead on the Dragons after one, and outscored them 19-2 in the 2nd quarter to take a 31-12 lead into the locker room.

The Cadets blanked Madison 23-0 in the 3rd quarter to go up 54-12 at the end of three, capping off a 49-2 run.

West Point-Beemer won the 4th quarter 6-2.

Ernesti and Blake Anderson registered 11 points apiece while Chase Streeter and Alex Gianella notched 9 and 8, respectively.

Sluggish defeat for the Cadets on Friday you could say, but West Point-Beemer woke up against Madison.

The Cadets (13-8) host Oakland-Craig (14-8) Friday night.

Oakland-Craig won 56-54 at Fremont Bergan Tuesday night.

This should be a great game.

West Point-Beemer has to do a good job of limiting or at least trying to contain Garrett Seagren.

He can single handily take over games and the Cadets can't let the school's all-time leading scorer do a number on them.

I think West Point-Beemer's defensive ability could be the difference in this game although the Knights might be more explosive, faster, and more athletic, and more dynamic on offense.

This game is big and key for both teams, and I could see things going either way.

The game doesn't have a lot of bearing on who both teams will be matched up against in sub-districts, but the game is still important to both teams I'm sure.

It's a rivalry game, and you can bet both teams will get after one another for 32 minutes.

It should be a great and exciting game, and it will be fun to hear the game on 107.9 the Bull.

It's Join up with Joel night on the Bull, and Aiden Jorgensen from Oakland-Craig will join Joel Janecek for the broadcast.

I look for this game to keep fans, players, coaches, parents, and listeners on their toes and on the edge of their seats.

The Knights figure to get up and down the floor while the Cadets figure to make it more of a halfcourt, slow grind type of game.

I think the higher the scoring, the more it favors Oakland-Craig.

I think a low scoring defensive battle favors West Point-Beemer.

It should be a great chess match between the two coaches, and a good, hard, and well played game.

I look for things to go down to the wire and be decided in the final minutes if not seconds.

I feel one shot, one possession, one defensive stand could make all the difference as to who wins the game.

The game can be heard on the Bull after the Girls Game, which is scheduled to start at 6:00 p.m.

The West Point-Beemer Girls Basketball Team is 2-1 in their last three contests, losing 35-31 to North Bend Central in the East Husker Conference Tournament Semifinals at Stanton last Thursday night, defeating Stanton 39-35 in the 3rd place game of the Tournament at Central Community College in Columbus on Saturday, and winning 60-24 at Madison Tuesday night.

The Tigers held an early 7-4 advantage, but the Cadets then went on a run that had them leading 14-9 after the first quarter and 23-18 at halftime.

However, West Point-Beemer was held to just eight points offensively in the second half, helping secure the win for North Bend.

Brittney Hinkel scored 10 points and had 11 rebounds for the Cadets, good enough for a double-double. Andrea Hoffman added 8 points.

The Cadets doubled up the Mustangs 12-6 in the 1st quarter. Stanton won the 2nd quarter 9-8 to make it a 20-15 game at halftime in favor of West Point-Beemer.

The Cadets won the 3rd quarter 7-6 to go up 27-21 at the end of three.

The Mustangs outscored West Point-Beemer 14-12 in the 4th quarter.

Hinkel had 13 points and 9 rebounds while Megan Groth notched 7 points.

The Cadets quadrupled up the Dragons 16-4 in the 1st quarter. Both teams scored 9 points in the 2nd quarter to take a 25-13 lead into the locker room.

West Point-Beemer outscored Madison 18-5 in the 3rd quarter to go up 43-18 at the end of three.

The Cadets outscored the Dragons 17-6 in the 4th quarter.

Sidney Swanson led all scorers with 11 points while Hoffman scored 9. Hinkel and Katie Pilakowski added 8 apiece. Brooke Haase totaled 7 points and 12 rebounds while Groth registered 7 points.

Two very good performances from West Point-Beemer following the loss to the Tigers.

The Cadets (17-6) battle Oakland-Craig (11-9) in the regular season finale at home Friday night.

Oakland-Craig lost 62-35 at Fremont Bergan Tuesday night.

Oakland-Craig hasn't won a game since losing Kennedy Benne to injury, and I don't see things changing in this one either.

The Knights would have a great chance to win if they had Benne or even Dacey Nelson too.

It figures to be win No. 18 for the Cadets though.

I don't see West Point-Beemer losing this one.

The game could be low scoring and defensive as the Cadets don't always score a lot of points, but West Point-Beemer should win.

I think the Cadets' defense and Oakland-Craig's lack of scoring production without their two leading scorers will be too much for the Knights to overcome and handle.

West Point-Beemer needs a strong performance, and a big win heading into sub-districts.

Sub-Districts set up nicely for the Cadets to advance to a District Final, but West Point-Beemer has work to do before they get to that point.

The Cadets have to focus on beating Oakland-Craig, and finish out the season strong and on a high note.

West Point-Beemer has to play strong offense and defense, and just simply play their game.

The Cadets have to apply a lot of pressure on the Knights' ball handlers and try and create turnovers in the backcourt.

West Point-Beemer has to build a big lead, and get backups into the game at some point in the second half if at all possible.

You can bet Oakland-Craig and Head Coach Joe Anderson will have a good game plan so don't be surprised if the Knights keep this one close.

The bottomline for the Cadets is win.

West Point-Beemer may not always win pretty, but they win.

And honestly a win is a win at the end of the day.

Friday night's game can be heard on 107.9 the Bull starting at 6:00 p.m.
