Clarkson/Leigh Boys and Girls lose to Logan View/Scribner-Snyder

The Clarkson/Leigh Boys Basketball Team lost 67-39 at Logan View/Scribner-Snyder Tuesday night

The Raiders held a 20-12 lead after one, and doubled up the Patriots 18-9 in the 2nd quarter to take a 38-21 lead into the locker room.

LVSS won the 3rd quarter 14-9 to go up 52-30 at the end of three before outscoring Clarkson/Leigh 15-9 in the 4th quarter.

Daniel Beller had 11 points and 10 rebounds, good enough for a double-double. Tommy McEvoy and Anthony Bruhn chipped in 7 points apiece.

I thought the Patriots played respectable basketball in all 4 quarters, especially the last two, but not good enough to knock off LVSS.

Clarkson/Leigh (3-15) hosts Stanton (3-17) Thursday night.

The Mustangs won 39-37 over Madison in the Bronze Bracket of the East Husker Conference Tournament at Twin River on Friday.

Stanton will no doubt be very confident coming into this game, but the Patriots should be very confident too.

I would say Clarkson/Leigh has been a better offensive team than the Mustangs have to this point in the season, but feel Stanton has been the stronger defensive team.

Something has to give here, and it should be a very good game between two fairly equal teams.

The last two regular season games appear to be tougher than this one for the Patriots so Clarkson/Leigh has to put things all together in this one to give themselves a shot against Wisner-Pilger Friday night, and David City next Friday night.

Beller, Bruhn, and McEvoy have to continue to be studs offensively for the Patriots , and will this team to victory.

This is Clarkson/Leigh's last real shot at a win before the regular season ends, in my opinion, and the Patriots have to make the most of the opportunity.

Clarkson/Leigh is likely going to be the No. 4 seed for sub-districts, playing Walthill.

The Patriots' sole focus has to be on Stanton though.

Clarkson/Leigh has a tremendous opportunity in front of them, and another chance to pick up a win.

It's an opportunity to defeat a C-2 team, and pick up some extra power points.

More than that though it would be a good confidence booster for the Patriots.

Clarkson/Leigh could really use a win in a big way Thursday night, and might be able to muster enough offense to get the job done.

That's the key for me as I don't see Stanton's offense going off.

I think it's just a matter of can the Patriots' offense score enough to top the Mustangs?

I really think it's hard saying as I feel these two teams are pretty much equal.

I feel this game could truly go either way.

The Clarkson/Leigh Girls Basketball Team sustained a big blow Tuesday night when the Patriots were upset 45-40 at Logan View/Scribner-Snyder.

The Raiders led 15-13 after one before the Patriots won the 2nd quarter 14-13 to make it a 28-27 game at halftime in favor of LVSS.

Clarkson/Leigh outscored the Raiders 10-2 in the 3rd quarter to go up 37-30 at the end of three.

LVSS outscored the Patriots 15-3 in the 4th quarter.

Tough blow dealt to Clarkson/Leigh in terms of their hopes of making it to state on a wildcard.

The Patriots (13-7) host Stanton (18-3) Thursday night.

The Mustangs won 40-20 at home over Twin River Tuesday night.

Stanton defeated Clarkson/Leigh 49-25 at home in the East Husker Conference Tournament Quarterfinals last Monday night.

This game is a must win for the Patriots if they hope to get a wildcard to state I would say.

Clarkson/Leigh could really use a big win Thursday night to get back into the wildcard to state picture.

That's not to say that the Patriots can't knock off GACC, because they definitely can, but it's never easy to beat the Bluejays in the postseason.

I look at Clarkson/Leigh the same way I looked at Pender last year.

A team good enough to make state that had the opportunity.

And a big reason why the Pendragons made state was because of a win over Stanton late in the regular season.

So the Patriots can definitely upset the Mustangs, and get right back in the game.

I don't want to say this is do or die for Clarkson/Leigh, but it is one step from it.

The Patriots have to answer the bell and come through in the clutch when it matters most Thursday night.

Clarkson/Leigh can definitely do this they just have to believe in one another and play inspired while also lifting each other up.

I bet not a lot of people are thinking the Patriots can do this...probably like not a of people thought Logan View/Scribner-Snyder could upset Clarkson/Leigh.

That game simply goes to show that anyone can be beaten on any given day or night.

So knowing that...the Patriots have to go out there and make it happen Thursday night.

Clarkson/Leigh has to play focused and inspired basketball, and turn in their best performance of the season to date.

The Patriots have to play like there is no tomorrow, and be relentless defensively and offensively for that matter.
