Pender Boys outlast GACC in OT in Sub-Districts

The Pender Boys Basketball Team outlasted GACC 60-50 in overtime in the D1-4 Sub-District Semifinals at Wisner-Pilger Tuesday night.

The Bluejays raced out to a 13-7 lead at the end of one before the Pendragons outscored GACC 21-14 in the 2nd quarter to go up 28-27 at halftime.

Both teams scored 9 points in the 3rd quarter, and the score after 3 was 37-36 in favor of Pender.

The Bluejays won the 4th quarter 13-12 to tie the game at 49 and sent it into OT.

The Pendragons outlasted GACC 11-1 in the extra session.

What a big deal it was for Pender to knock off the Bluejays. The Pendragons hung tough and found a way to win, way to go!

Pender (10-14) battles Walthill (12-6) in the Sub-District Final Thursday night.

The Blujays won 58-50 over Clarkson/Leigh in Tuesday night's first semifinal game.

The Patriots gave Walthill a tussle, and I don't view the Blujays as a team the Pendragons can't beat by any means.

Anytime you have a player like Sam Mailoux you have a chance to win.

Pender can definitely beat Walthill and advance to a district final, in my opinion.

I fully expect Thursday night's game to be a close grind.

I don't think either team is going to run away from the other.

I feel the Pendragons have a chance to win this sub-district and move on.

Pender has played a tough schedule this year, and I think it really benefits them at this point in the season.

State is not out of the realm of possibility for this Pendragon squad I would say.

Pender has to dream big and play hard and with a big heart.

The Pendragons have to pour their heart and soul into Thursday night's game, and leave everything out on the floor.

Pender has to go out there and give it their all for 4 quarters, and be the more aggressive team, and make more plays down the stretch.

The Pendragons have to start fast, and smack Walthill in the mouth.

The Blujays were beaten in this round last year so who's to say it can't and won't happen again?

Pender has to play physical and fearless.

The Pendragons should respect Walthill, but not back down from them whatsoever.

Pender has to feel like they've got a chance to keep their season alive Thursday night, and be one step from achieving the dream and goal of making state.

Pender has to be tough mentally and physically throughout the game. The Pendragons have to be ready to absorb contact and dish physical play back themselves.

Pender also has to keep a level head, and can't let the emotions of the game get the best of them.

Tip-off is set for 7:00 p.m.
