North Bend Central Boys beat Howells-Dodge and Raymond Central; Girls down Jaguars, beat Columbus Lakeview in Sub-Districts

The North Bend Central Boys Basketball Team won 63-55 at Howells-Dodge Thursday night before downing Raymond Central 91-56 at home Monday night.

The Jaguars led 13-12 after one before the Tigers won the 2nd quarter 12-8 to take a 24-21 lead into the locker room.

North Bend Central outscored Howells-Dodge 14-9 in the 3rd quarter to extend the lead to 38-30 at the end of three.

Both teams scored 25 points in the 4th quarter.

The Tigers got out to a 19-9 lead on the Mustangs at the end of one before outscoring Raymond Central 26-12 in the 2nd quarter to take a 45-21 lead into the locker room.

The Tigers won the 3rd quarter 18-16 to go up 63-37 at the end of three.

North Bend Central outscored the Mustangs 28-19 in the 4th quarter.

Tanner Wietfeld had 31 points while John Emanuel posted 21.

Two really good wins for the Tigers, in my opinion.

North Bend Central (19-3) rounds out the regular season Friday night at home against Fort Calhoun (6-14).

The Pioneers won 78-56 at home over Omaha Brownell-Talbot on Saturday, February 3rd.

Fort Calhoun is 6-4 in their last 10 games after starting the season 0-10.

The Pioneers have played better basketball and started to put things together some.

I fully expect the Tigers to win though.

This game doesn't really do much for North Bend Central besides give them their 20th win of the season.

The game doesn't help any in terms of power points, and if anything it hurts the Tigers from that standpoint.

It's looking like North Bend Central is going to need to win their sub-district and a district final to make state this year anyways so the Tigers should just fine tune whatever needs fine tuning Friday night.

It's also one more game for the seniors to go out there and display their talent.

North Bend Central has had a great season, and you can bet the Tigers will be in the thick of things for a state berth.

North Bend Central has to enjoy one last regular season contest before the real fun starts though.

The Tigers have to go out there and play hard, smart, physical, and most importantly must have fun.

North Bend Central has to go out there and tear things up, and play a great game from the start.

The Tigers have to jump out to a big lead and get as many kids in as possible.

North Bend Central will need their big guns in the postseason so getting them rest in the second half of this one may not be a bad idea as long as the lead is big enough.

James Seymour and Peter Emanuel should get plenty of playing time being the only two seniors on the team so they must enjoy and take in their final ever home game for North Bend Central.

Don't be surprised if the Tigers win this one by 25 or 30.

Fort Calhoun lost to Arlington by 20 while North Bend Central beat the Eagles by 14 so a big margin of victory is certainly a distinct possibility in this one I would say.

The North Bend Central Girls Basketball Team beat Howells-Dodge 55-41 on the road Thursday night to end the regular season, and won 52-40 over Columbus Lakeview in the C1-7 Sub-District Semifinals at Columbus High Tuesday night.

The Tigers went up on Howells-Dodge 14-8 after one, and outscored the Jaguars 21-12 in the 2nd quarter to take a 35-20 lead into the locker room.

Howells-Dodge won the 3rd quarter 10-8 to make it a 43-30 game at the end of three.

Both teams scored 12 points in the 4th quarter.

North Bend Central held a 16-10 lead on the Viqueens after one. The Tigers outscored Lakeview 15-4 in the 2nd quarter to take a 31-14 lead into the locker room.

Both teams scored 13 points in the 3rd quarter, and the score after 3 was 44-27 in favor of North Bend Central.

The Viqueens won the 4th quarter 13-8.

Brooke Fredrickson and Kristin Lux had 11 points apiece to pace the Tigers.

Two very good offensive and defensive games from North Bend Central. Both games were good and encouraging signs for the Tigers, in my opinion.

North Bend Central (18-4) takes on Columbus Scotus (17-5) in the C1-7 Sub-District Final at Columbus High Thursday night.

The Shamrocks knocked off David City Aquinas 42-31 in Tuesday night's Semifinals.

Scotus also beat the Tigers 40-24 at home on January 16th.

Scoring is going to be the deciding factor in this game, in my opinion.

North Bend Central needs scoring outputs like they've gotten in their last 3 games.

If the Tigers get that sort of production again Thursday night I think they stand a great shot to win.

Even if North Bend Central should lose it appears there's a chance they could get a wildcard to state.

It's not a for sure thing, but it seems possible at this point.

The Tigers have to focus on beating their nemesis in Scotus though.

The Shamrocks got the best of North Bend Central last year and earlier this year, but the Tigers are a different team this year I think.

North Bend Central beat Scotus in Volleyball this year, and there's no question in my mind that the Tigers can beat the Shamrocks in basketball too.

North Bend Central just has to be confident when they shoot the ball and expect it to go in when they release it.

The Tigers have to be thinking "this shot is going in" when they shoot it, or perhaps not think at all.

North Bend Central has to connect on their layups, close shots, and free throws to be able to win this one, in my opinion.

Fredrickson, Lux, Kaitlynn Bjorklund, Hailey Bang, Lauren Emanuel, and others need to rise to the occasion and have big games offensively for the Tigers.

It has to be an all hands on deck type of thing and game for North Bend Central.

Everyone has to be on board and on the same page of doing everything they can to win.

These girls have to leave everything out on the court, and put their heart and souls into this one.

Blood, sweat, and tears must pour out for the Tigers in this one, win or lose.

Game time is set for 6:00 p.m.
