Winnebago Boys 2-0 in Lewis and Clark Conference Tournament so far; Girls go 1-1 in Tournament

The Winnebago Boys Basketball Team is 2-0 so far in the Lewis and Clark Conference Tournament, defeating Emerson-Hubbard 79-29 at home in the first round Monday night, and Creighton 71-41 in the Quarterfinals at Wausa Thursday night.

The Indians led the Pirates 17-8 after one, and outscored Emerson-Hubbard 30-4 in the 2nd quarter to take a 47-12 lead into the locker room.

Winnebago outscored the Pirates 22-9 in the 3rd quarter to go up 69-21 at the end of three.

The Indians won the 4th quarter 10-8.

Two big wins for Winnebago. I think the Indians are getting back to the form they were in for the first part of the season.

Winnebago (15-3) takes on Osmond (16-1) in the Conference Tournament Semifinals at Hartington-Newcastle Saturday night.

The Tigers downed Wausa 51-30 in Thursday night's Quarterfinals at Wausa.

Osmond is good, but I don't think the Tigers have seen nearly the caliber of competition the Indians have.

Osmond is a D-1 school while Winnebago is C-1 so I look for the Indians to win this game.

I think Winnebago and Ponca will meet in the championship, which would make for an epic third showdown between the two teams.

First things first though, Winnebago has to take care of business against Osmond.

The Indians have to come out ready to smash from the start.

Winnebago has to be as effective offensively as they were against Emerson-Hubbard and Creighton.

I thought the Indians played great on both ends of the floor in both of those games, and that's something Winnebago has to continue.

The Indians have to keep pushing and keep being determined and driven to be great.

Winnebago is a great team, and I think the Indians are starting to get back to the type of form they played with up until around Christmas.

The Indians have to remain hungry, and must keep their eye on the prize.

Winnebago has to keep playing their game, and continue to put up stellar numbers offensively and defensively.

The Indians have to keep the foot on the throttle and the pedal to the metal Saturday night.

I'm sure Winnebago really wants Ponca again, and what a great championship game that would be.

It won't happen though unless both Winnebago and Ponca win their semifinal games so we'll see what happens Saturday night.

The Osmond game is set to start at 7:45 p.m.

The Winnebago Girls Basketball Team went 1-1 at the Lewis and Clark Conference Tournament, beating Bloomfield 65-28 at Hartington-Newcastle on Saturday, before losing 56-53 to Hartington-Newcastle at Creighton in Tuesday night's Quarterfinals.

The Indians held a 15-9 lead on the Bees at the end of one before outscoring Bloomfield 19-11 in the 2nd quarter to take a 34-20 lead into the locker room.

Winnebago outscored the Bees 18-5 in the 3rd quarter to lead 52-25 at the end of three.

The Indians outscored Bloomfield 13-3 in the 4th quarter.

The Wildcats jumped on Winnebago 20-8 at the end of one. The Indians won the 2nd quarter 18-15 to make it a 35-26 game at halftime in favor of Hartington-Newcastle.

Winnebago outscored the Wildcats 14-5 in the 3rd quarter to tie the game at 40 at the end of three.

Hartington-Newcastle won the 4th quarter 16-13.

I thought the Indians played great in both games. So close to reaching the semifinals was Winnebago.

The Indians (8-10) take on Wakefield (6-13) on the road Tuesday night.

The Trojans won 51-41 over Creighton in a Lewis and Clark Tournament consolation game at Wakefield Tuesday night.

Wakefield is a weird team in that they play well at times and struggle at others.

I think Winnebago has a good chance to win this one.

It's getting down to the nitty gritty for the Indians, and Winnebago could desperately use a win in this one.

The Indians' regular season finale is at Bishop Neumann on Thursday, and Winnebago needs all the momentum and confidence they can get heading into that game.

The Indians have to not only win Tuesday night, they have to dominate as well.

Winnebago could really use a blowout win to gain confidence and momentum for Thursday's game with the Cavaliers.

The Indians are a good team and have some nice players, and I totally expect Winnebago to win big over Wakefield.

I don't know what the Indians can do against Neumann, but Winnebago has to expect to win no matter who they take the floor against.

The Indians have to use their frustration of losing on Tuesday as fuel and motivation for this Tuesday night's game.

Winnebago has to come out and show the Trojans no mercy, and take it to Wakefield for 4 quarters.

The Indians have to play hard, smart, and aggressive.

Winnebago has to play with fire, drive, grit, determination, mental and physical toughness, passion, and pride as well.

The Indians have to get out and run and gun, and run the Trojans out of the building if at all possible.

Winnebago has to be relentless with their attack, and must go full tilt for 32 minutes.
