Howells-Dodge Boys fall to Lutheran High Northeast in Regular Season Finale

The Howells-Dodge Boys lost 56-38 at home to Lutheran High Northeast in the regular season finale Friday night.

The Eagles led 14-12 at the end of one before winning the second quarter 10-6 to go up 24-18 at halftime.

LHNE put up 11 points in the the third quarter compared to 10 for the Jaguars to make it a 35-28 game at the end of three.

The Eagles outscored Howells-Dodge 21-10 in the fourth quarter.

Zach Bayer led the way with 14 points while Connor Blum totaled 12.

Head Coach Cole Fischer says the team was right there. "The boys played hard and executed the game plan. We hit a stretch in the 4th quarter where they made and run and we didn't answer. We now focus on the post season."

The Jaguars (10-12) face Battle Creek (10-14) in the C2-7 Sub-District at Norfolk Catholic Tuesday night.

The Braves lost 62-45 at O'Neill Friday night.

Battle Creek has been scuffling in recent games as they've lost four in a row.

The Braves have also beaten some good teams this year though.

Battle Creek is a lot like Howells-Dodge in that they have been up and down.

I feel this game can go either way depending who comes to play.

Both of these teams are battle tested and have lost to and beat some good teams.

Bayer, Blum, Lane Hegemann, Kade Hegemann, and Dax VanLengen all need to have big games for the Jaguars to come away with a win, in my opinion.

Both of these programs have had success in recent years, and this figures to be an intriguing matchup.

I look for both teams to get after things big time Tuesday night, and go at each other full force for 32 minutes.

The Jaguars have to play like they know their season is on the line. Howells-Dodge has to come ready with a vengeance, and be ready to play four quarters of basketball.

The Jaguars have to finish strong, something they didn't do against the Eagles.

If Howells-Dodge plays four strong quarters of basketball I like their chances of pulling out the win, but if the Jaguars have any bad quarters it could spell doom to their season.

Howells-Dodge has to come out guns ablazin and must be ready to go from the get go.

The Jaguars have to play good, hard, solid basketball for four quarters, and take it to the Braves the best they can.

Howells-Dodge has to be physical, and must play with mental and physical toughness, tenacity, fire, grit, passion, pride, and heart.

The Jaguars have to treat every possession with a lot of importance, and must take care of the ball, and outhustle, outwork, outrebound, outrun, and outshoot Battle Creek.

Tip-off is slated for 7:45 p.m.
