North Bend Central Girls lose to Columbus Scotus in Sub-District Final

The season came to an end for the North Bend Central Girls Thursday night as the Tigers lost 39-32 to Columbus Scotus in the C1-5 Sub-District Final at Columbus High.

It had to be a tough way for North Bend Central to go out given all they accomplished this season.

The Tigers end the year at 17-6.

The season was highlighted by wins over Fremont Bergan, Oakland-Craig, Humphrey/Lindsay Holy Family, Stanton, and Howells-Dodge.

North Bend Central caught fire in the East Husker Conference Tournament, but couldn't continue their hot play unfortunately.

The Tigers lose only two seniors in Alex Humlicek and Mackenna Walla so you can bet North Bend Central will be back with a roar next year.

The Tigers bring back Kaitlynn Bjorklund, Hailey Bang, Megan Ortmeier, Kristin Lux, Lauren Emanuel, and Brooke Fredrickson.

You can bet North Bend Central will be back with a vengeance in 2017-2018.

I think the Tigers are capable of having a breakout year next year and making state next season.

There's a long way to go until the start of next season though, and North Bend Central has to work hard from now until the start of next season if they want to be successful next year.

I know a lot if not all of these girls are also involved in Volleyball, and perhaps other sports, but these girls need to shoot as much as possible in the offseason.

The returning players and incoming freshman have to be gym rats, and be dedicated to improving and getting better.

Participating in open gyms, summer camps, summer leagues, and other team activities is important for the Tigers as is working hard in the weightroom.

North Bend Central's players should also spend time with one another off the court too for team bonding purposes.

The closer these girls are with each other, the better chemistry they will have and the more successful they will be next season, in my opinion.
