Logan View/Scribner-Snyder Boys down Madison in EHC Tournament
It was a picture perfect start to the East Husker Conference Tournament for the Logan View/Scribner-Snyder Boys Tuesday night as the Raiders knocked off Madison 72-29 at home in the Quarterfinals.
LV/SS jumped out to a 14-4 lead at the end of one. The Raiders outscored the Dragons 23-6 in the second quarter to take a 37-10 lead into the locker room.
LV/SS won the third quarter 24-16 to go up 61-26 at the end of three.
The Raiders put up 11 points in the fourth quarter and held Madison to 3.
Ben Moxness was up to his usual tricks, tallying 24 points to lead the way while Jacob Polk, Alex Hagerbaumer, and Clay Kruger added 11, 10, and 8, respectively.
This was a great way for LV/SS to start the tournament. Things get tougher Friday night though.
The Raiders (13-4) take on Oakland-Craig (12-5) in the Tournament Semifinals at North Bend Central on 107.9 the Bull.
The Knights picked up an impressive 70-48 victory over Humphrey/Lindsay Holy Family in the Tournament Quarterfinals Tuesday night.
These two teams met in the first game of the season at LV/SS with the Raiders winning 71-59.
I feel these two teams are completely different now than what they were then though.
LV/SS has won 9 in a row and 10 out of their last 11 while Oakland-Craig won 10 in a row at one point this season.
The Knights had a tough stretch where they lost three in a row, but appeared to have gotten back on track Tuesday night.
This should be a great game of star power.
You have Moxness, Polk, and Hagerbaumer for the Raiders going up against the likes of Garrett Seagren, Carter Thiele, Kobe Benne, Evan Reinert, and Wyatt Seagren.
I think Oakland-Craig is the stronger offensive team between the two teams, but I feel LV/SS is the better defensive team.
If I had to predict who I think will win Friday night it would be the Raiders simply because they're the hotter team right now, won the first meeting, and are in C-1 compared to the Knights, who are in C-2.
Both teams are great though, and I expect the contest to be close and hotly contested.
I wouldn't be surprised one bit if Oakland-Craig won, but I give the upper hand to LV/SS also in large part because of how the Raiders played against Madison.
The Knights played outstanding and amazing basketball against the Bulldogs, there's no doubt about it, but I was really impressed when I saw the LV/SS score Tuesday night.
And with that said, I think the Raiders have a good shot to win the championship on Saturday as well.
LV/SS beat North Bend Central by 10 earlier this season, and could very well do it again, should the Tigers defeat BRLD.
To go along with that I don't think there's any doubt the Raiders could beat the Wolverines as well should those two teams meet up in the championship.
Friday night's game will air on the Bull after the North Bend Central/BRLD game, which is scheduled to start at 6:00 p.m.
