West Point-Beemer Boys fall at Fremont Bergan
The West Point-Beemer Boys dropped their regular season finale at Fremont Bergan Friday night, falling 76-66.
The Knights led 22-15 after one before the Cadets won the second quarter 15-13 to make it a 35-30 game at halftime.
West Point-Beemer outscored Bergan 23-19 in the fourth quarter to close the gap to 1 at 54-53 at the end of three.
The Knights notched 22 points in the fourth quarter compared to 13 for the Cadets.
Blake Anderson led the way with 21 points while Austin Streeter notched 20. Chase Streeter added 13 points and 7 rebounds.
West Point-Beemer was right there with Bergan. They just couldn't finish.
The Cadets (11-13) tangle with Pierce (9-13) in the C1-7 Sub-District at Norfolk High Tuesday night.
The Bluejays lost 46-44 at home to Wayne Friday night.
West Point-Beemer beat Pierce 47-46 at home two weeks ago.
I think the winner of this game has a legit chance to get to a district final.
The Blue Devils appear to be beatable as the Bluejays nearly proved Friday night.
So the Cadets should feel good, but not overconfident about their chances of winning the Sub-District.
West Point-Beemer has to come in level headed and ready to go at it with Pierce for 32 minutes.
The Cadets have to understand it's probably going to be a game like it was the first time around between the two teams.
I expect things to be back and forth the entire way with both teams grinding things out until the very end.
It would be big for West Point-Beemer to win this Sub-District and get to a District Final.
It won't be easy, but it can definitely happen.
The Cadets just have to come in confident and believe they can beat the Bluejays again.
I think West Point-Beemer has a mental advantage in that they already beat Pierce once so they are probably thinking they can do it again.
With that said, the Bluejays will have revenge on their minds, and you can bet they will come ready to play.
The Cadets have to understand that they're not the only team fighting for their season. Pierce is going to come at them with everything they have, and West Point-Beemer has to be ready for it, and be prepared to respond.
It will be interesting to see how the Cadets respond to in-game adversity should they face any Tuesday night.
Tip-off is set for 8:00 p.m.
