The LVSS girls basketball team
finished the regular season last week with games at Boys Town and BRLD.
LVSS picked up a 56-18 win at Boys Town last Thursday night.
The Raiders got
off to a hot start and were led by Mackenzy Schreck and Abby Kahlandt
who scored 12 points apiece. Kaylee Boyle was also in double figures
with 11, Ashley Peters added 8 and Sierra Beacom-7 in the win.
Peters led the way with
5 three-pointers and 15 points, Boyle added 9 points, Morgan
Morgan had 9 points and 10 rebounds.
Tekamah-Herman defeated Logan View/Scribner-Snyder 53-21 in the C1-6 Sub-District Play-In Game at Oakland-Craig Monday night.
Tekamah-Herman outscored the Raiders 11-5 in the third quarter to go up 37-16 at the end of three.
The Tigers put up 16 points in the fourth quarter compared to 5 for Logan View/Scribner-Snyder.
The Raiders, were led by Schreck, who totaled 6 points.
Head Coach Nick Hegge was proud of his team despite the loss. "Kind of got overwhelmed. And it stinks to have your worst game of the year on your last one. Leaves a little sour taste in your mouth. But our kids are disappointed, but shouldn't hang their head about their season. They've made some big improvements. They're a really, really good group of kids. And unfortunately we just didn't have it."
Hegge's Raiders end the season at 6 and 16. "They've
worked hard all year. It's unfortunate that we didn't play very well,
but you got to tip your hat to Tekamah cause they kind of overwhelmed
us."
LVSS says goodbye to Schreck, the lone senior on the team.
The Raiders return the likes of Boyle, Morgan, Peters, Ashley Uhing, Shaylin Daugherty, Kahlandt, Taylor Ruwe, and Sierra Beacom.
Hegge says his team is looking forward to the future, but there's a lot of work to do. "It's exciting to have a lot of kids coming back. We just got to find a way to get more competitive against some of these teams in our conference. And our conference is one of the best in the whole state right now so we got to raise our level here."
I think the future looks really good for LVSS. The Raiders should have quite a bit of talent on the floor again next year, and should be able to field an even better team than they did this year I would think.
I feel LVSS made some really nice improvements this season and had a great year all things considering.
I'm excited to see what the Raiders can do in 2017-2018.
It's going to take a lot of hard work and sacrifice on these girls' part, but I look for LVSS to have a good and productive offseason.
I think the Raiders could use improvement in ball handling and footwork so those could be two things to work on along with shooting and rebounding.
LVSS could use improvement in all aspects of the game like any team really.
How good the Raiders are next year depends in large part on how hard they want to work this offseason, in my opinion.
LVSS has to put the work in to have a better season next year than they did this year.
As they say.... no pain....no gain.
