Pender Boys lose at Stanton

The Pender Boys lost 62-49 at Stanton on Saturday.

The Mustangs got out to a 19-14 lead on the Pendragons at the end of one. Pender doubled up Stanton 12-6 in the second quarter to take a 26-25 lead into the locker room.

The Mustangs won the third quarter 16-12 to go up 41-38 at the end of three.

Stanton outscored the Pendragons 21-11 in the fourth quarter.

Pender was right there through three quarters, they just couldn't finish.

The Pendragons (5-16) take on BRLD (13-10) on the road in the regular season finale Friday night.

The Wolverines lost 37-32 at home to Logan View/Scribner-Snyder this past Friday night.

BRLD beat Pender 66-48 in the first round of the East Husker Conference Tournament at Genoa on January 28th.

The Wolverines have lost four in a row, and if BRLD struggles the way they have lately the Pendragons could get them.

Pender hasn't exactly been lighting it up themselves lately either  though as they've dropped 8 out of their last 9 so I feel this is anyone's ball game.

The Pendragons have to play hard, smart, and tenacious.

Pender has to be ready to play strong defense, and must get their offense going.

The Pendragons can't be afraid to get out in transition and attack the basket when the opportunity arises.

With that said, I don't think Pender wants to go up and down with the Wolverines, and make this a run and gun type game.

I'm sure the Pendragons probably want to slow the pace some and play more of a conventional half court game.

So with that said, Pender has to execute in the half court, find good, open looks to the basket, and get to and convert at the free throw line.

The Pendragons also have to contest shots and stay out of foul trouble.

Pender has to play with mental and physical toughness, emotion, heart, pride, and passion.

The Pendragons have to do everything in their power to spoil BRLD's seniors' last home game, and prepare themselves for GACC on Tuesday.

This is Pender's one game to kind of gear up for the postseason.

The Pendragons have to play with a purpose and bounce to their step Friday night.

Pender has to give it their all for 32 minutes, and try their best to come away with the win.
