Wisner-Pilger Girls fall to Twin River in EHC Consolation Game

The Wisner-Pilger Girls fell 46-38 to Twin River in a consolation game of the East Husker Conference Tournament in Genoa Thursday night.

The Titans spurted out to a 12-3 at the end of one. The Gators bounced back in the second quarter, outscoring Twin River 19-12 to make it a 24-22 game at halftime.

The third quarter killed Wisner-Pilger as the Titans put up 16 points and held the Gators to just 3 to go up 40-25 at the end of three.

Wisner-Pilger won the fourth quarter 13-6.

The first and third quarters weren't kind to the Gators. Wisner-Pilger's play in those two quarters is what ultimately cost them the game I would say.

The Gators (6-13) host BRLD (14-7) Tuesday night.

The Wolverines won 52-46 over West Point-Beemer in their consolation game at Humphrey/Lindsay Holy Family Thursday night.

The Gators have dropped five in a row and eight out of their last nine.

And I wouldn't say Wisner-Pilger has struggled a whole lot, it's just they're failing to get over the hump.

Wisner-Pilger has played and lost to some tough teams, and some games have been close while others have not.

The Gators just haven't found that winning formula in the second half of the season, and BRLD is another team that is not going to be easy for Wisner-Pilger to beat, in my opinion.

The Gators have a game at Laurel-Concord-Coleridge Thursday night, and that's a contest that could go either way, in my opinion.

I would say Wisner-Pilger desperately needs a win or two before sub-districts given who is all in their sub-district.

I don't think the Gators are a bad team at all, they've just  been unable to play good consistent ball for four quarters, something you need to do win games in Northeast Nebraska.

Wisner-Pilger has played good defense I think, it's just their offense that has struggled.

Tuesday night's game will be aired on 107.9 the Bull beginning at 6:15 p.m.
