Pender Boys fall at BRLD to end regular season
The Pender Boys lost their regular season finale at BRLD Friday night, falling 72-34.
The Wolverines jumped out to a 19-6 lead after one before outscoring the Pendragons 26-10 in the second quarter to take a 45-16 lead into the locker room.
BRLD won the third quarter 20-11 to go up 65-27 at the end of three.
Both teams scored 7 points in the fourth quarter.
This was a tough way to end the regular season for Pender. The Wolverines simply came out ready to play and took it to the Pendragons.
Pender (5-17) squares off with Guardian Angels Central Catholic (11-13) in the D1-4 Sub-District at Wisner-Pilger Tuesday night.
The Bluejays lost 96-53 at Winnebago Friday night to end the regular season.
GACC has been up and down this year, looking good at times, and not looking so good at others.
The Pendragons are an improved team over last year, in my opinion, but not improved enough to beat the Bluejays I would say.
I look for this Sub-District to come down to Walthill and GACC.
On the positive side for Pender they avoided the Play-in-Game.
And if the Pendragons are to have to face either the Bluejays or Blujays I think they would prefer to take on GACC.
I think Pender would have benefited from a regular season matchup with the Bluejays, that way they could of seem then once and prepared a good game plan for what would of been Round 2.
It is what it is though, and the Pendragons have to do everything in their power to compete and pick up a win against GACC.
Anything can happen this time of year, and if the Bluejays struggle to score like they have at times this season, Pender could find themselves on the winning side of things.
It won't be easy, but the Pendragons have to come out motivated, confident, and must believe that they can win.
We will see how short a memory this team has given the regular season ending loss to the Wolverines.
The loss to BRLD couldn't of been good for momentum purposes heading into the postseason, but Pender has to shake that game off and regroup.
This is the season for the Pendragons....this is it. Pender has to come out and play with toughness, tenacity, fire, grit, pride, passion, heart, and mental and physical toughness.
The Pendragons have to be ready to go toe to toe with GACC for 32 minutes, and must do everything possible to come away with the win.
Game time is set for 7:45 p.m.
