Wisner-Pilger Boys down Madison in regular season finale

The Wisner-Pilger Boys topped Madison 51-40 at home in Friday night's regular season finale.

The Gators jumped out to a 17-4 lead at the end of one. The Dragons won the second quarter 13-10 to make it a 27-17 game at halftime in favor of Wisner-Pilger.

Madison outscored the Gators 15-14 in the third quarter to make it a 41-32 game at the end of three.

Wisner-Pilger put up 10 points in the fourth quarter compared to 8 for the Dragons.

The Gators jumped on Madison early, and that was the difference in the game.

Wisner-Pilger (10-12) battles Stanton (7-14) in the C2-7 Sub-District Play-in-Game at Norfolk Catholic Monday night.

The Mustangs won 70-28 at Emerson-Hubbard Friday night, and have won four in a row.

The two teams met on December 22nd in Wisner with Stanton winning 47-41.

This is a battle between two teams who are playing superb basketball right now.

Honestly I think these teams are at least the 2nd and 3rd best teams in the Sub-District.

This figures to be a very entertaining and compelling Play-in-Game. I feel the winner has a chance to upset Humphrey/Lindsay Holy Family on Tuesday.

This is a game being coached by father and son as Wisner-Pilger Head Coach Duane Mendlik is the father of Stanton Head Coach Bryan Mendlik.

This should be a good battle between two quality teams. Neither team really likes one another as the two are rivals of sort so that should make things even more interesting.

I look for Monday's game to be highly competitive, entertaining, and close.

Keegan Ruskamp, Jayden Raabe, Hunter Waterman, Gunner Labenz, and Korrell Koehlmoos all need to have good and productive games for the Gators.

Wisner-Pilger has to try and slow down Myles Nickolite, Hunter Stallbaum, Henry Bohac, and Trey Erbst, among others.

The Mustangs have started to come on lately so the Gators have to be ready to get off to the kind of start they got off to against Madison.

I look for things to be be very tight throughout with the game being decided in the final minutes or perhaps even seconds.

Wisner-Pilger has won four out of their last five so I would say the Gators have just as good a chance to win as Stanton does.

Game time is set for 7:00 p.m. on 107.9 the Bull.
