BRLD Boys 3-0 in last three games; Girls 2-0 in last two

The BRLD Boys Basketball Team won 40-31 over Logan View/Scribner-Snyder in the East Husker Conference Tournament Semifinals at Midland aired on 107.9 the Bull Friday night before winning 55-41 over North Bend Central in Saturday's Championship Game, also at Midland and aired on the Bull, and then downed Wisner-Pilger 82-56 at home Tuesday night.

The LVSS game got off to a slow start, with BRLD leading just 6-2 after the first quarter, but picked up in the second, with the Wolverines up 21-15 at the half.

LVSS outscored BRLD 10-6 in the third quarter, but the Wolverines still claimed a 27-25 advantage after three.

The Raiders were able to keep the score within one to two possessions throughout much of the fourth quarter, before they were forced to foul in order to stop the clock.

BRLD made free throws down the stretch and were able to pull away late for the win.

Lucas Vogt had 19 points for BRLD while Jaxon Johnson had 8 points and 7 rebounds, and Dylan Beutler posted 8 points.

On Saturday, the first half was back-and-forth, with NBC leading 14-13 after the first quarter, and BRLD leading 24-23 going into halftime.

BRLD started to pull away in the second half, however, scoring 14 points in the third quarter, and taking a 38-30 lead into the final period.

NBC got the score within two possessions a few times, but BRLD pulled away late, winning the game 55-41.

Vogt led three Wolverines in double figures with 18 points and also had 8 rebounds and 7 assists. Will Gatzemeyer scored 14 and Beutler added 10 points and 8 rebounds. Johnson chipped in 10 rebounds.

BRLD doubled up Wisner-Pilger 16-8 in the 1st quarter and 26-13 in the 2nd quarter to take a 42-21 lead into the locker room.

The Wolverines outscored the Gators 27-13 in the 3rd quarter to increase their lead to 69-34 at the end of three.

Wisner-Pilger outscored BRLD 22-13 in the 4th quarter.

Beutler led the way with 18 points while Darwin Snyder totaled 16. Vogt had 12 points and 7 rebounds while Johnson notched 10 points and 8 rebounds.

Continued dominance from the Wolverines.

BRLD (20-0) takes on Logan View/Scribner-Snyder (16-6) on the road Friday night.

The Raiders won 48-27 at home over Clarkson/Leigh Tuesday night in action aired on 107.9 the Bull.

The Wolverines also have a big game on Saturday at the Heartland Hoops Classic against Hastings.

The Tigers lost 54-51 at home to Adams Central Tuesday night.

So I feel like BRLD has a chance to knock off and beat Hastings, but the Wolverines have to focus and worry about LVSS first.

Friday night's game could be a game where BRLD simply gets out of Hooper with a win.

All that matters is that you win, but I'm sure the Wolverines would like to blowout the Raiders.

Easier said than done though given the type of game and pace Logan View/Scribner-Snyder plays.

So BRLD definitely has their hands full this weekend, but has a chance to be great and shine, in my opinion.

A win over Hastings would be amazing as the Tigers are a Class B School and 17-2 on the season.

It won't be easy with the game being in Grand Island, but anything is certainly possible for the Wolverines.

BRLD has to go out there and showcase to the fans just how great of a team they are.

The Wolverines are an incredible and amazing team, and have to go out there and play great basketball on Friday and Saturday.

Win or lose on Saturday, BRLD should have a great chance to win State again in C-2.

Still though winning Saturday would give the Wolverines a chance to be undefeated back-to-back State Champs, and that would be a huge deal.

I think BRLD can beat Hastings too, but it won't be easy.

The Tigers are a very good Class B School, but I don't feel they're a super Dominant B School.

The Wolverines are a super dominant C-2 School, and play in a tough region up here in Northeast Nebraska.

It will be interesting to see what happens in both games for BRLD.

The BRLD Girls won 55-46 at Humphrey/Lindsay Holy Family in an East Husker Conference Tournament Consolation game last Thursday night before beating Wisner-Pilger 63-43 at home Tuesday night.

The Wolverines got out to a 13-7 lead on the Bulldogs at the end of one. Both teams scored 9 points in the 2nd quarter, and BRLD led 22-16 at halftime.

Both teams scored 12 points in the 3rd quarter, and the Wolverines held a 34-28 advantage at the end of three.

BRLD won the 4th quarter 21-18.

Jordan Snyder had 24 points and 9 rebounds while Isabel Freemont totaled 16 points. Caragan Tietz added 9 rebounds.

The Wolverines got out to a 19-13 lead on the Gators at the end of one. Wisner-Pilger outscored BRLD 14-6 in the 2nd quarter to take a 27-25 lead into the locker room.

The Wolverines tripled up the Gators 18-6 in the 3rd quarter to pull in front 43-33 at the end of three.

BRLD doubled up Wisner-Pilger 20-10 in the 4th quarter.

A really solid win for the Wolverines last Thursday, and a great second half Tuesday night.

BRLD (18-4) rounds out the regular season at Logan View/Scribner-Snyder (4-16) Friday night.

The Raiders lost 54-26 at home to Clarkson/Leigh Tuesday night in action aired on 107.9 the Bull.

This is a game where I think either the Wolverines are going to blowout LVSS or win a close game.

The Raiders nearly beat Wisner-Pilger last Thursday and the Gators gave BRLD a scare.

The Wolverines could really use a dominant win over Logan View/Scribner-Snyder to get ready for Sub-Districts.

BRLD faces GACC in Sub-Districts on Tuesday, and needs a lot of momentum heading into that one.

The last thing the Wolverines want is a sluggish performance against the Raiders.

BRLD is likely to make a Sub-State game even if they don't beat the Bluejays.

The top three teams in the Sub-District...Ponca, GACC, and BRLD....should all make Sub-State games.

This is a loaded Sub-District, and I think all three of the teams mentioned above could very well make the State Tournament.

It will be very interesting to see how it all plays out and what happens.

The Wolverines have to focus on and worry about LVSS first though.

BRLD's lone and sole focus has to be on the Raiders.

The Wolverines can turn their attention to GACC after Friday night's game.

I think it's really important for BRLD to come out and play a great game Friday night.

The Wolverines appear to be a team that could be destined for Lincoln for the first time in Co-op history, and blowing out teams you're supposed to is all a part of being the type of team that makes state.

BRLD has to get off to a strong start, and suffocate Logan View/Scribner-Snyder defensively with their press.

The Wolverines have to get out and run and score transition points and baskets.

I feel the Raiders are the type of team BRLD can hold to not a ton of points, and that could help the Wolverines' defensive efforts heading into the postseason, in my opinion.
