Tekamah-Herman Boys lose to Oakland-Craig in East Husker Conference Tournament; Girls 1-1 in tournament so far
The Tekamah-Herman Boys Basketball Team lost 73-43 at Oakland-Craig in the first round of the East Husker Conference Tournament on Saturday.
The Knights led the Tigers 24-3 at the end of one. Oakland-Craig won the 2nd quarter 15-11 to take a 39-14 lead into the locker room.
The Knights doubled up Tekamah-Herman 22-11 in the 3rd quarter to extend their lead to 61-25 at the end of three.
The Tigers won the 4th quarter 18-12.
Credit to Tekamah-Herman for battling hard the entire game.
The Tigers (4-13) take on Madison (4-14) in an EHC Tournament Consolation game at Clarkson Friday night.
The Dragons lost 69-51 at Humphrey/Lindsay Holy Family in Saturday's first round.
Madison also only lost to North Bend Central by 19 last Tuesday after keeping that game close going into the 4th quarter.
So Madison has been playing better basketball their last two games.
The Tigers did beat the Dragons 68-61 in the Madison Holiday Tournament Championship Game on December 28th and then again at home on Thursday, January 16th, 83-59.
So you would think Tekamah-Herman would win once more on Friday, but maybe not given the way the Tigers have played since that game and the way Madison has played in their last two games.
Tekamah-Herman has played in Clarkson/Leigh's gym this year so though so I feel that is an advantage for the Tigers.
This game with the Dragons is very interesting and intriguing if you ask me.
I feel things could truly go either way.
Hopefully Tekamah-Herman comes out and plays well Friday night.
I would like to see another Tiger win over Madison, but beating a team three times in a season is no small task.
Tekamah-Herman can definitely do it though as I feel the Tigers are more than up to the task.
The Tigers just have to get back to playing the way they were when they beat the Dragons the last time.
Tekamah-Herman has to forget about the last 3-4 games and come out with a fresh start Friday night.
The Tigers have some tough end of regular season tests on the horizon so getting this one would be big for Tekamah-Herman there's no doubt about that.
The Tigers really need this one in a big way you could say.
The game will tip-off after the Clarkson/Leigh and Pender Game, which is scheduled to start at 4:30 p.m.
The Tekamah-Herman Girls won 45-37 over Howells-Dodge in the first round of the East Husker Conference Tournament at Clarkson Friday night before losing 72-36 at Oakland-Craig in Monday night's Quarterfinals.
The Jaguars went up 13-8 at the end of one. Tekamah-Herman won the 2nd quarter 12-9 to take a 22-20 lead into the locker room.
The Tigers won the 3rd quarter 8-6 to tie the game at 28 at the end of three.
Tekamah-Herman outscored Howells-Dodge 17-9 in the 4th quarter.
Jadyn Fleischman had 19 points in the win for the Tigers.
The Knights doubled up the Tigers 12-6 in the 1st quarter, and outscored Tekamah-Herman 20-6 in the 2nd quarter to take a 32-12 lead into the locker room.
Oakland-Craig doubled up the Tigers 24-12 in the 3rd quarter to increase their lead to 56-24 at the end of three.
The Knights won the 4th quarter 16-12.
Good, strong, solid win for the Tigers Friday night.
Tekamah-Herman (10-10) battles Clarkson/Leigh (14-5) in an EHC Tournament Consolation Game at Humphrey/Lindsay Holy Family Thursday night.
The Patriots fell 56-38 at North Bend Central in Monday night's Quarterfinals aired on 107.9 the Bull.
Clarkson/Leigh beat the Tigers 57-30 at home on Saturday, January 11th in action we also had for you on the Bull.
I think this game has a chance to be closer than that one was though.
Reason being Tekamah-Herman played Howells-Dodge tougher the second time around compared to the first time around when they played them, and I feel the Patriots were peaking at that time and the Tigers started a period of struggle.
So I think Thursday's game will definitely be closer than the first time around, but I feel Clarkson/Leigh still has a good and strong chance to win.
I think you could very well see the Patriots win a low scoring defensive battle.
Still though I feel Tekamah-Herman has what it takes to win also.
It's crazy that next week is the final week of the regular season for the girls.
This High School Basketball and High School Sports Season has flown by, a lot like what we talk about every year.
That's why it's important to play as well as possible from here on out, and I feel like the Tigers are on the right track.
I look for Tekamah-Herman to compete and give Clarkson/Leigh their best shot come Thursday night.
If the Patriots do win they are going to have to earn it.
Fleischman needs to have a big game inside for the Tigers, and Tekamah-Herman has to go to work and play very hard come Thursday night.
The Tigers have to play with toughness and emotion and purpose.
The game is set to tip-off at 6:00 p.m.
