Wisner-Pilger Boys 2-1, Girls 1-2 in last three games
The Wisner-Pilger Boys Basketball Team beat Howells-Dodge 58-57 at Oakland-Craig in an East Husker Conference Tournament Consolation Game Friday night and 65-52 at home Monday night. The Gators then lost 82-56 at BRLD Tuesday night.
In the first meeting, Wisner-Pilger led the Jaguars 15-13 after one, and won the 2nd quarter 17-14 to take a 32-27 lead into the locker room.
The Gators won 3rd quarter 16-12 to extend their lead to 48-39 at the end of three.
Howells-Dodge outscored Wisner-Pilger 18-10 in the 4th quarter.
In the 2nd meeting, the Gators jumped on the Jaguars in the 1st quarter, leading 20-8 at the end of one. Wisner-Pilger won the 2nd quarter 12-11 to take a 32-19 lead into the locker room.

The Wolverines outscored the Gators 27-13 in the 3rd quarter to increase their lead to 69-34 at the end of three.
Wisner-Pilger outscored BRLD 22-13 in the 4th quarter.
Two good wins over the Jaguars.
The Gators (13-8) take on Laurel-Concord-Coleridge (18-4) at home Thursday night.
The Bears defeated Ponca 66-56 at home in Monday's Lewis and Clark Conference Tournament Championship Game.
Laurel-Concord-Coleridge is on a roll right now as they have won 6 in a row and 8 out of their last 9.
This is the last home game of the season for Wisner-Pilger.
The Gators have to come out and inspired and beat a great team to give themselves a spark to make a postseason run.
If Wisner-Pilger plays the way they did on Monday against Howells-Dodge and ups their game I think they can beat the Bears.
Laurel-Concord-Coleridge is a great team though, and doesn't figure to be easy to beat whatsoever.
I think there's an opportunity for a win for the Gators though.
I really feel the potential lies there for Wisner-Pilger.
I think it simply comes down to how badly the Gators want it and if they can step up their game.
Wisner-Pilger has to play with a lot of aggression and emotion come Thursday night.
Chest bumping and hopping around and getting pumped and fired up and stuff is all very important.
The Gators have to try and get in Laurel-Concord-Coleridge's head, and make them uncomfortable at "The Swamp."
Wisner-Pilger has to have that refuse to lose attitude, and must go out there and play with great purpose and authority.
So much is at stake for the Gators here at the end of the season, and a win over the Bears would give Wisner-Pilger that signature win they've been searching for all year long.
It's last chance time for the Gators as far as the regular season is concerned, and Wisner-Pilger has to go out there and play a great game Thursday night.
The Gators can definitely do it too, but Wisner-Pilger has to expect to win and must go out there and get the job done.
The Wisner-Pilger Girls defeated Logan View/Scribner-Snyder 38-37 in an East Husker Conference Tournament Consolation Game at Howells-Dodge Thursday night before falling 68-61 at home to Howells-Dodge Monday night, and 63-43 at BRLD Tuesday night.
The Raiders jumped out on the Gators 13-4 after one. Wisner-Pilger won the 2nd quarter 11-10 to make it a 23-15 game at halftime.
The Gators won the 3rd quarter 10-7 to trim the lead to 30-25 at the end of three.
Wisner-Pilger outscored Logan View/Scribner-Snyder 13-7 in the 4th quarter.
Karrin Jindra had 12 points and 8 rebounds while Lindsey Kneifl totaled 10 points and 9 rebounds.
Both the Gators and Jaguars scored 14 points in the 1st quarter. Wisner-Pilger outscored Howells-Dodge 22-14 in the 2nd quarter to take a 36-28 lead into the locker room.
The Jaguars outscored Wisner-Pilger 20-12 the 3rd quarter to tie the game at 48 at the end of three.
Howells-Dodge won the 4th quarter 20-13.
The Wolverines got out to a 19-13 lead on the Gators at the end of one. Wisner-Pilger outscored BRLD 14-6 in the 2nd quarter to take a 27-25 lead into the locker room.
The Wolverines tripled up the Gators 18-6 in the 3rd quarter to pull in front 43-33 at the end of three.
BRLD doubled up Wisner-Pilger 20-10 in the 4th quarter.
Kneifl led the way with 11 points while Jindra had 10 points and 11 rebounds, good enough for a double-double. Macy Stuhr added 8 points.
Good play in all three games at times for the Gators.
Wisner-Pilger (4-17) plays host to Laurel-Concord-Coleridge (11-9) in Thursday night's regular season finale.
The Bears lost 64-51 to Homer in the Lewis and Clark Conference Tournament at Randolph last Tuesday night.
So Laurel-Concord-Coleridge will have been off for 9 days so it will be interesting to see how things go on Thursday from that standpoint.
The Gators have had quite a few games lately whereas the Bears have been off.
That can either be a good or bad thing for both teams.
It's good for Wisner-Pilger if Laurel-Concord-Coleridge is sluggish and off their game, but not good for the Gators if the rest does the Bears good.
I don't think 9 days off does Laurel-Concord-Coleridge good this time of year though as teams are used to playing a lot of games so I'm going to say it's a good thing for Wisner-Pilger.
The Gators are likely going to play Homer in the bunny bracket game of Sub-Districts on Monday.
This game is the final home game of the season for Wisner-Pilger so the Gators have to make things count.
It's also the final game of postseason preparation for Wisner-Pilger.
It's hard to believe that we are almost to the end of the High School Basketball season, but here we are.
The Gators have to come out and play inspired and with passion Thursday night.
This is the last ever home game for these seniors, and they have to make it really count.
I look for Wisner-Pilger to play well and turn in a good, solid, and strong performance come Thursday night.
I think the Gators will play inspired and will perhaps pick up a win.
This should be a good, close game that comes down to the wire.
The Bears might escape with a win, but perhaps Wisner-Pilger will have it in them to pick up a victory.
