Winnebago Boys 2-1 in last three games; Girls 1-1 in last two
The Winnebago Boys Basketball Team won 78-45 over Homer in the Lewis and Clark Conference Tournament Quarterfinals at Creighton last Thursday night before falling 59-42 to Laurel-Concord-Coleridge in the Semifinals on Saturday. The Indians then won 69-58 at Wakefield Tuesday night.

The Indians outscored Homer 29-20 in the 3rd quarter to go up 53-34 at the end of three.
Winnebago outscored the Knights 25-11 in the 4th quarter.
The Bears led 19-7 after one, and won the 2nd quarter 12-11 to take a 31-18 lead into the locker room.
The won the 3rd quarter 16-10 make it a 41-34 game at the end of three.
Laurel-Concord-Coleridge outscored Winnebago 18-8 in the 4th quarter.
The Indians led the Trojans 19-12 at the end of one. Wakefield won the 2nd quarter 13-11 to make it a 30-25 game at halftime.
The Trojans won the 3rd quarter 21-17 to cut the deficit to 47-46 at the end of three.
Winnebago outscored Wakefield 22-12 in the 4th quarter.
Good, strong performances from the Indians last Thursday and Tuesday night, in my opinion.
Winnebago (8-10) battles Crow Creek, SD (9-1) on the road Friday night.
Crow Creek would be classified as a C-1 Team if they played in Nebraska.
I don't know a whole lot about them other than that.
I will say though this is a tremendous challenge for the Indians.
Winnebago also plays McLaughlin, SD on Saturday in the Sacred Hoops Classic in Crow Crook so a couple of huge opportunities for the Indians.
Winnebago is likely to play Logan View/Scribner-Snyder in Sub-Districts in a couple of weeks so the Indians have to play well this weekend and next Friday against GACC to get ready for the postseason.
This should be a great weekend of ball for Winnebago.
A chance to get away from home and play some teams from out of state and a different area.
Weather altered things for this tournament like last year if I recall, and so I think they will be okay to play this year, at least I think it's supposed to be fine weather wise up there.
The Indians have started coming on strong lately, and I look for Winnebago to play great games come Friday and Saturday.
Winnebago has to go up there and show everyone in South Dakota what they are made of and what they can do.
The Indians have to show everyone what they are all about and just how good and talented they are.
Hopefully both games are close and competitive for Winnebago or the Indians win big.
Winnebago has been up and down this year so it's hard saying for sure what is going to happen.
I just know that the Indians have had success in past South Dakota Tournaments with their past teams, and I look for Winnebago to do well this year also.
The Indians may not be a strong this year as in years past, but Winnebago has played really well at times this year.
And If the Indians are on their game this weekend I think they can compete with and beat both teams.
The Winnebago Girls lost 64-32 to Ponca in the Lewis and Clark Conference Tournament Semifinals at Wakefield Friday night before winning 73-58 at Wakefield-Allen Tuesday night.
Ponca led 16-13 after one, and won the 2nd quarter 21-6 to take a 37-19 lead into the locker room.
Ponca outscored Winnebago 17-7 in the 3rd quarter to increase their lead to 54-26 at the end of three.
Ponca won the 3rd quarter 10-6.
Winnebago led the Trojans 16-10 after one. The Indians won the 2nd quarter 15-11 to take a 31-21 lead into the locker room.
Winnebago outscored Wakefield-Allen 26-14 in the 3rd quarter to increase their lead to 57-35 at the end of three.
The Trojans won the 4th quarter 23-16.
Good bounce back win on Tuesday following Friday night's defeat.
Winnebago (12-8) battles Crow Creek, SD (13-1) on the road Friday night.
Crow Creek would be classified a C-2 team in the State of Nebraska.
I don't know a whole lot about them other than they will be a tremendous challenge for the Winnebago.
The Indians also play Dupree, SD at the Sacred Hoops Classic in Crow Creek on Saturday, and what an opportunity for Winnebago to showcase themselves at a big tournament right before Sub-Districts.
The Indians will rematch with Wakefield-Allen in Sub-Districts on Tuesday and could face West Point-Beemer in the Sub-District Final.
So Winnebago has to build off what they did Tuesday and continue to build off of that this weekend.
I feel this weekend's play will kind of set the stage for next week in terms of what the Indians can do in the postseason.
Winnebago is a scary team that no one wants to face.
The Indians have to go up to South Dakota and play two great games this weekend.
Winnebago has to go up there and let South Dakota folks know what Winnebago Girls Basketball is all about and is becoming.
The Indians are a team on the rise for sure, and there's no better opportunity than this weekend to showcase what they can do.
It will be really interesting to see how things go this weekend.
I feel Winnebago has a chance to do really well and turn some heads.
If the Indians do well, they need to carry that over into Tuesday and potentially next Thursday.
Winnebago has to let one game build upon another, and bounce back quickly from any setbacks like they did on Tuesday.
This is the time of year where a quick memory is a must, and if the Indians struggle in South Dakota this weekend they can't let that play linger or carry over into Tuesday.
This is an exciting time for Winnebago Girls Basketball, and the Indians have to go out there and make the most of their opportunities this weekend and next week.
