BRLD Boys rout Howells-Dodge in EHC Tournament Quarterfinals; Girls beat Twin River, lose to West Point-Beemer

The BRLD Boys Basketball Team routed Howells-Dodge 72-44 at home in Tuesday night's East Husker Conference Tournament Quarterfinals in action aired on 107.9 the Bull.

The Wolverines led 25-4 after one, and won the 2nd quarter 14-9 to take a 39-13 lead into the locker room.

BRLD outscored Howells-Dodge 18-12 in the 3rd quarter to extend their lead to 57-25 at the end of three.

The Jaguars won the 4th quarter 19-15.

Lucas Vogt registered 22 points while Darwin Snyder totaled 12. Brayden Anderson compiled 10 while Will Gatzemeyer recorded 9. Dylan Beutler tallied 7 points and 9 rebounds while Jaxon Johnson chipped in 7 rebounds.

Business as usual for BRLD.

The Wolverines (17-0) take on Logan View/Scribner-Snyder (15-4) in the EHC Tournament Semifinals at Midland Friday night in action that will be aired on 107.9 the Bull.

The Raiders beat Oakland-Craig 60-51 in the other Semifinal in Lyons Tuesday night.

BRLD should win this one you would think.

LVSS has played really well lately though, winning 6 in a row and 8 out of their last 9.

So the Raiders are definitely a team to be reckoned with that's for sure.

The Wolverines have to come out and simply do what they have all season though.

And if BRLD does that they should be just fine.

Logan View/Scribner-Snyder will likely control tempo and pace and make it a halfcourt game if possible.

So the Wolverines have to apply pressure with their guards and try and create turnovers and get out in transition.

BRLD has to play tight, pressure defense, and score so much that the Raiders have to play at a faster tempo than they would like.

The Wolverines have to dictate tempo, and get out and run, run, run.

It should be very competitive game between the two teams, but I feel like there is BRLD and everyone else.

I feel like the top 3 are seeded according to how good they are and then LVSS could very well be the 4th best team in the conference.

Win or lose on Friday, either way the Raiders are guaranteed another game on Saturday.

Logan View/Scribner-Snyder would definitely like to beat the Wolverines, no doubt, but that will be very difficult.

There's a reason they play the games though so the Raiders have to be optimistic and be confident in their chances and abilities come Friday night.

The game will tip-off after the North Bend Central/Humphrey/Lindsay Holy Family game, which is scheduled to start at 6:00 p.m. on the Bull.

The BRLD Girls routed Twin River 71-24 at home Friday night in the first round of the East Husker Conference Tournament before losing 53-39 to West Point-Beemer in Monday night's Quarterfinals from Oakland-Craig.

BRLD led the Titans 28-9 at the end of the 1st quarter, and won the 2nd quarter 16-10 to take a 44-19 halftime lead.

The Wolverines outscored Twin River 19-5 in the 3rd quarter to extend their lead to 63-24 at the end of three.

BRLD blanked the Titans 8-0 in the 4th quarter.

Isabel Freemont led all scorers with 29 points on a school record 9-pointers while Jordan Snyder had 10 points and 7 rebounds. Caragan Tietz and Aubrey Berg each had 8 points while Kailynn Lovejoy notched 7 points and 7 rebounds. Kelsey Larsen added 7 rebounds.

The Cadets went up 10-9 at the end of one on the Wolverines. West Point-Beemer won the 2nd quarter 13-11 to take a 23-20 lead into the locker room.

The Cadets outscored BRLD 14-9 in the 3rd quarter to increase their lead to 37-29 at the end of three.

West Point-Beemer outscored the Wolverines 16-10 in the 4th quarter.

Great win on Friday, but tough way to lose on Monday.

BRLD (16-4) takes on Humphrey/Lindsay Holy Family (18-3) in an EHC Tournament Consolation game on the Bulldogs' home floor Thursday night.

It's crazy that this isn't a 3rd place matchup on Saturday at the very least.

Both teams just ran into teams that are red hot and playing great basketball right now.

The Wolverines have to find the motivation to turn around and play well on Thursday.

BRLD has to treat this game as an opportunity to pick up a big win and get back on track.

I feel the Wolverines could do very well in this game.

There shouldn't be a whole lot of pressure with it being a consolation game.

These two teams did just meet in Bancroft last Friday with the Bulldogs winning 74-71 so perhaps BRLD will return the favor this time around.

It will definitely be interesting to see who wins on Thursday.

I think the Wolverines have a good shot of taking it, but feel H/LHF could win also.

It should be a close game that comes down to the wire once again.

Perhaps this is the game where BRLD's defense gets back on track, we will see.

The Wolverines really need this one as it is their last real challenge prior to Sub-Districts.

So this is a big game for many reasons for BRLD.

I fully expect the Wolverines to come out and play well and answer the bell.

I also think Humphrey/Lindsay Holy Family will play well too, which should make for a good game.

Hopefully BRLD doesn't lose by more than they did the first time around, but I could see that happening potentially.

The game is set to start after the Tekamah-Herman/Clarkson/Leigh game, which will begin right at 6:00 p.m.
