West Point-Beemer Boys 0-3 in last three games; Girls 4-0 in last four

The West Point-Beemer Boys Basketball Team lost 50-23 at Pierce last Tuesday night before falling 60-49 at home to Wayne Thursday night, and 64-41 to Twin River at Humphrey/Lindsay Holy Family in the first round of the East Husker Conference Tournament Saturday night.

The Bluejays led the Cadets 14-4 at the end of one, and doubled up West Point-Beemer 10-5 in the 2nd quarter to take a 24-9 lead into the locker room.

Pierce outscored the Cadets 13-4 in the 3rd quarter to increase their advantage to 37-13 at the end of three.

The Bluejays won the 4th quarter 13-10.

Keegan Doggett had 10 points to lead the way.

The Cadets and Blue Devils were tied at 17 at the end of one. West Point-Beemer won the 2nd quarter 12-8 to take a 29-25 lead into the locker room.

Both teams scored 13 points in the 3rd quarter, and the score was 42-38 at the end of three in favor of the Cadets.

Wayne outscored West Point-Beemer 22-7 in the 4th quarter.

Doggett had 13 points while Riley Penrose totaled 10. Miguel Perez chipped in 9 while Zach Vander Griend notched 7.

The Titans led the Cadets 19-4 after one, and won the 2nd quarter 17-11 to go up 36-15 at halftime.

West Point-Beemer won the 3rd quarter 14-6 to make it a 42-29 game at the end of three.

Twin River outscored the Cadets 22-12 in the 4th quarter.

Jesus Barragan had a team-high 11 points while Doggett added 8.

Good effort from West Point-Beemer.

The Cadets (3-16) take on Stanton (3-15) in an EHC Tournament Consolation Game at Clarkson Friday night.

The Mustangs lost 48-26 to Logan View/Scribner-Snyder in Saturday's first round at Oakland-Craig.

The two teams met in West Point on December 10th with the Cadets rallying in the 4th quarter for a 44-43 win.

This is a battle of two teams who really need and could use a win.

I think West Point-Beemer can definitely beat Stanton again, but it's never easy beating the same team twice in a season.

The Cadets have Madison on Tuesday and so a couple of chances for West Point-Beemer to pick up wins.

The Cadets have to come out and play great and smart from the start Friday night.

It's the last game of the night and will start around 7:45 p.m. or so probably and so West Point-Beemer has to be ready to go.

The Cadets have to be motivated and have to want to be there.

West Point-Beemer has to come out high flying and must get up and down the court at their pace.

If I'm the Cadets I probably want to push tempo and make the Mustangs play faster than they would like.

Whoever dictates tempo and pace of the game could very well win this one, in my opinion.

It should be a great game nonetheless and I look for both teams to really get after things.

West Point-Beemer has to be rock solid from the start, and must play their game.

I feel the Cadets did some really good things against the Blue Devils on Thursday, and have to bring that same intensity and energy that they had in the first three quarters of that game.

West Point-Beemer really needs a couple of wins in their next two games, and could definitely wind up getting them.

It all simply depends how badly the Cadets want it and how hard they are willing to work.

The West Point-Beemer Girls won 50-31 at Pierce last Tuesday night before downing Wayne 54-34 at home Thursday night, and then winning 49-33 over Logan View/Scribner-Snyder in the first round of the East Husker Conference Tournament at BRLD Friday night, before knocking off BRLD 53-39 in Monday night's Quarterfinals at Oakland-Craig.

The Cadets led the Bluejays 12-8 after one. West Point-Beemer won the 2nd quarter 8-3 to take a 20-11 lead into the locker room.

The Cadets won the 3rd quarter 14-9 to go up 34-20 at the end of three.

West Point-Beemer outscored Pierce 16-11 in the 4th quarter.

Sidney Swanson had 17 points and 7 rebounds while Jadyn Meiergerd totaled 9 points. Brooklyn Weddle added 8 points and 9 rebounds while Rachel Groth notched 8 points.

The Cadets led the Blue Devils 16-9 at the end of one, and won the 2nd quarter 12-9 to go up 28-18 at halftime.

West Point-Beemer won the 3rd quarter 12-10 to extend their lead to 40-28 at the end of three.

The Cadets outscored Wayne 14-6 in the 4th quarter.

Swanson led all scorers with 25 points while Weddle totaled 16, and Meiergerd added 7.

West Point-Beemer led the Raiders 12-8 at the end of one, and won the 2nd quarter 13-9 to take a 25-17 lead into the locker room.

The Cadets outscored LVSS 16-3 in the 3rd quarter to extend their lead to 41-20 at the end of three.

The Raiders won the 4th quarter 13-8.

Swanson led all scorers with 28 points and notched 7 rebounds while Weddle registered 8 points. Swanson also surpassed over 1,000 points for her career.

The Cadets went up 10-9 at the end of one on the Wolverines. West Point-Beemer won the 2nd quarter 13-11 to take a 23-20 lead into the locker room.

The Cadets outscored BRLD 14-9 in the 3rd quarter to increase their lead to 37-29 at the end of three.

West Point-Beemer outscored the Wolverines 16-10 in the 4th quarter.

The Cadets are certainly red hot and rolling right now as they have won 9 in a row and 12 out of their last 13.

West Point-Beemer (17-4) battles Oakland-Craig (19-0) in the EHC Tournament Semifinals at Midland Thursday night in action that can be heard on 107.9 the Bull.

The Knights knocked off Tekamah-Herman 72-36 at home in Monday night's Quarterfinals.

This is a gigantic game between two heavyweights.

Both teams have excellent guard play.

I feel like Reece Snodgrass could be a huge factor in this game for the Cadets.

I feel like she could be the X factor in this one for West Point-Beemer.

The Cadets have to be tough on the inside and outrebound Oakland-Craig if at all possible.

The Knights have solid post play and are a great team, but West Point-Beemer is great too.

Both teams are used to big stages so it will be interesting to see what happens.

This game could truly go either way.

It should be a great battle, and I look for both teams to really get after things and one another.

You would think the Knights would win being the top seed all, but you never know.

The way this girls bracket has turned out anything is certainly possible.

The Cadets played BRLD very tough and gave them fits, and if the same thing happens Thursday night it will be interesting.

Of course these two met in last year's Championship Game that wasn't without some controversy so you can bet both teams will really get after things Thursday night.

It will be very interesting to see what happens as this game could definitely go either way.

I think Oakland-Craig could hang on and win, but who knows, we will find out.

I think Coach Shepard's familiarity with playing at Midland and just knowing the gym and stuff is a slight advantage for West Point-Beemer.

The game will tip-off after the North Bend Central/Pender game, which will start at 6:00 p.m. on the Bull.
