The Logan View/Scribner-Snyder Boys Basketball Team won 48-26 over Stanton in the first round of the East Husker Conference Tournament at Oakland-Craig Saturday night before upending Oakland-Craig 60-51 in Lyons in Tuesday night's Quarterfinals in action aired on 107.9 the Bull.
The Raiders got out to a 13-5 lead at the end of one before outscoring the Mustangs 14-5 in the 2nd quarter to take a 27-10 lead into the locker room.
LVSS won the 3rd quarter 14-10 to extend their lead to 41-20 at the end of three.
The Raiders won the 4th quarter 7-6.
Garrett Kriete notched 13 points and 7 rebounds while Connor Larson and Trystain Roseberry totaled 8 apiece.
The Knights led the Raiders 13-5 after one. LVSS outscored Oakland-Craig 24-7 in the 2nd quarter to take a 29-20 lead into the locker room.
The Raiders won the 3rd quarter 13-10 to increase their advantage to 42-30 at the end of three.
The Knights won the 4th quarter 21-18.
Kriete led the way with 22 points and 8 rebounds while Larson totaled 17 points. Riley Hoetfelker added 13.
Great play as of late from LVSS, who has won 6 in a row and 8 out of their last 9.
The Raiders (15-4) battle BRLD (17-0) in the EHC Semifinals at Midland Friday night in action that will be aired on 107.9 the Bull.
The Wolverines topped Howells-Dodge 72-44 in Tuesday night's other Quarterfinal aired on the Bull.
BRLD is a great team, and won't be easy to beat.
Logan View/Scribner-Snyder is going to have to play a great and amazing game to come out on top.
The Raiders like to slow the pace and tempo down and play a halfcourt game to their liking and if LVSS can effectively do that against the Wolverines then who knows what will happen.
The way Logan View/Scribner-Snyder has played lately has to have you thinking they might have a shot in this one.
I would also say that the game being at Midland is a slight advantage for the Raiders.
BRLD may very well win, but games aren't played on paper.
Anyone can be beat on any given night, and LVSS has to think why not us?
Why can't the Raiders be the team to upset mighty BRLD?
Logan View/Scribner-Snyder has to think and dream about it happening.
Dream it do it if you are the Raiders.
LVSS has two tough games on Friday and Saturday and then gets BRLD and Yutan to close out the regular season, probably the two best teams in all of C-2.
So at the very least the Raiders are seeing some great and amazing competition, the type of teams they will see come the postseason.
I feel win or lose, four out of Logan View/Scribner-Snyder's next five games will really help prepare the Raiders for and give LVSS a taste of what's to come in the postseason.
Friday night's game is scheduled to start after the North Bend Central/Humphrey/Lindsay Holy Family game, which is set to start at 6:00 p.m.
Both of Logan View/Scribner-Snyder's games on Friday and Saturday will be carried on the Bull.
The Logan View/Scribner-Snyder Girls lost 49-33 to West Point-Beemer at BRLD in Friday night's East Husker Conference First round.
West Point-Beemer led the Raiders 12-8 at the end of one, and won the 2nd quarter 13-9 to take a 25-17 lead into the locker room.
The Cadets outscored LVSS 16-3 in the 3rd quarter to extend their lead to 41-20 at the end of three.
The Raiders won the 4th quarter 13-8.
Maelee Beacom had a team-high 11 points while Josie Kahlandt pulled down 8 rebounds.
Good, solid, strong effort from Logan View/Scribner-Snyder.
The Raiders (4-14) battle Wisner-Pilger (3-15) in an EHC Tournament Consolation game at Howells-Dodge Thursday night.
The Gators lost 64-50 to Pender at Humphrey/Lindsay Holy Family in Friday night's first round.
The two teams met on January 18th at Logan View with Wisner-Pilger winning 61-48.
I definitely feel like LVSS has a chance to pick up the win this time around.
Reason being it's always tough to beat a team twice in a season and the Gators were playing their best basketball at the time.
I feel the game will be a lot closer this time around and feel the Raiders could very well win.
It will be interesting to see what happens and if Logan View/Scribner-Snyder can pick up a victory this time.
It should be a close game I would think.
I would imagine things will be decided by single digits this time around.
It would be a nice and good win for the Raiders if they are able to get it.
I feel like the opportunity and potential is there for LVSS, the Raiders just have to go out there and capitalize on their opportunity.
Logan View/Scribner-Snyder needs to play the way they did in the first three quarters against Howells-Dodge.
The Raiders need good ball movement, and must be able to knock down perimeter jump shots.
The Gators have some height so it will be interesting to see how the battle down low goes.
It's LVSS's guards against Wisner-Pilger's bigs.
It's speed versus size in the case of these two teams.
And whichever team is on offensively and wins the rebounding advantage figures to have the upper hand in this one, in my opinion.
This game is the 2nd game of the night at Howells-Dodge so it will likely start around 6:00 p.m. or so.
