Logan View/Scribner-Snyder Boys 2-1 in last three games; Girls 0-2 in last two
The Logan View/Scribner-Snyder Boys Basketball Team lost 40-31 to BRLD in the East Husker Conference Tournament Semifinals at Midland Friday night in action aired on 107.9 the Bull before losing 51-45 to Humphrey/Lindsay Holy Family in Saturday's 3rd place game, also at Midland and aired on the Bull. The Raiders then turned around and beat Clarkson/Leigh 48-27 at home Tuesday night in action also aired on the Bull.
The BRLD game got off to a slow start, with BRLD leading just 6-2 after the first quarter, but picked up in the second, with the Wolverines up 21-15 at the half.
LVSS outscored BRLD 10-6 in the third quarter, but the Wolverines still claimed a 27-25 advantage after three.
The Raiders were able to keep the score within one to two possessions throughout much of the fourth quarter, before they were forced to foul in order to stop the clock.
BRLD made free throws down the stretch and were able to pull away late for the win.
Trystain Roseberry led LVSS with 13 points while Garrett Kriete added 7.
The Bulldogs led the Raiders 14-8 after one. Logan View/Scribner-Snyder won the 2nd quarter 7-6 to make it a 20-15 game at halftime.
H/LHF won the 3rd quarter 13-9 to extend their lead to 33-24 at the end of three.
The Raiders won the 4th quarter 21-18.
Kriete led the way with 13 points while Riley Hoetfelker added 11. Connor Larson chipped in 10.
The Raiders got out to a 9-2 lead on the Patriots at the end of one, and won the 2nd quarter 12-8 to take a 21-10 lead into the locker room.
LVSS won the 3rd quarter 11-7 to extend their lead to 32-17 at the end of three.
The Raiders outscored the Patriots 16-10 in the 4th quarter.
Roseberry led all scorers with 19 points.
Logan View/Scribner-Snyder (16-6) hosts BRLD (20-0) Friday night.
The Wolverines won 82-56 at home over Wisner-Pilger Tuesday night.
BRLD has won 43 straight games and is an amazing team.
The Wolverines play Hastings on Saturday in the Heartland Hoops Classic in Grand Island so perhaps the Raiders will catch BRLD looking ahead.
The first game was close, and I feel this one has a chance to be as well.
The pace that LVSS plays allows them to keep games close.
It could be a scenario where the Wolverines escape with a win, but we will see.
The Raiders have to go out there and give BRLD all they can handle and then some.
Logan View/Scribner-Snyder has to play hard and smart from the start, and must take the fight to the Wolverines.
It's cliche, but the Raiders have to believe that they can win and get the job done.
The Tigers could very well hand BRLD their first and only loss of the season on Saturday, but Logan View/Scribner-Snyder has to do everything in their power to be that team.
The Raiders are tough, especially at home, and I feel this game has a chance to be very close.
The Wolverines could run Logan View/Scribner-Snyder out of the gym too if BRLD is able to play at their pace and tempo and make things a track meet, but I don't see the Raiders allowing things to get out of hand like that.
LVSS is a scary team that I don't think anyone wants to play right now, and won't want to play come the postseason.
Speaking of the postseason, the Raiders could very well play Winnebago in the first round of Sub-Districts in a couple of weeks so it will be interesting to see what happens there potentially.
First things first though, Logan View/Scribner-Snyder has to worry about BRLD first and then Yutan next Friday on the road in the regular season finale....two teams that could meet again in the C-2 State Championship Game.
The Logan View/Scribner-Snyder Girls lost 38-37 to Wisner-Pilger an East Husker Conference Tournament Consolation game at Howells-Dodge before falling 54-26 at home to Clarkson/Leigh Tuesday night in action aired on 107.9 the Bull.
The Raiders jumped out on the Gators 13-4 after one. Wisner-Pilger won the 2nd quarter 11-10 to make it a 23-15 game at halftime.
The Gators won the 3rd quarter 10-7 to trim the lead to 30-25 at the end of three.
Wisner-Pilger outscored Logan View/Scribner-Snyder 13-7 in the 4th quarter.
Josie Kahlandt had 14 points while Maelee Beacom totaled 10. Valerie Uehling recorded 7 while Grace Schlueter had 7 rebounds.
The Patriots led the Raiders 13-4 after one. Clarkson/Leigh tripled up Logan View/Scribner-Snyder 21-7 in the 2nd quarter to take a 34-11 lead into the locker room.
Both teams scored 8 points in the 3rd quarter, and the score was 42-19 at the end of three in favor of the Patriots.
Clarkson/Leigh won the 4th quarter 12-7.
Kahlandt had a team-high 11 points.
A pair of tough losses for the Raiders. The loss to the Gators had to hurt.
Logan View/Scribner-Snyder (4-16) plays host to Boys Town (9-10) Thursday night.
The Cowgirls won 37-13 at Parkview Christian Tuesday night.
Boys Town may be 9-10, but they haven't played the caliber of competition that the Raiders have.
LVSS beat Cedar Bluffs by 33, and the Wildcats beat the Cowgirls.
So if that tells you anything the Raiders should win this one in a landslide.
It will be good for LVSS to get at least one more win in the regular season before Sub-Districts begin.
The Raiders get Boys Town and BRLD at home back-to-back this week to end the regular season, and the way Wisner-Pilger battled and gave the Wolverines a run for their money has to give LVSS confidence.
If there was ever a time for the Raiders to get hot and play their best basketball now would be it.
LVSS is likely going to play West Point-Beemer in Sub-Districts, and it would be the 3rd matchup of the season between the two teams.
So I think the Raiders can definitely beat Boys Town of course and then give BRLD and West Point-Beemer tough games.
Logan View/Scribner-Snyder may not beat either BRLD or West Point-Beemer, but could play both of those teams close, and build some momentum for next year.
But you never know, perhaps the Raiders could pull off a win or two against those teams.
You just never know this time of year.
Anything can happen, especially at this time of the year.
No win is guaranteed or a done deal that is for sure.
Games are played on the court, not on paper, and LVSS has to feel like they can beat anyone they go up against.
Given the Wolverines' up and down play over the last month or so you just never know what might happen in that one on Friday.
BRLD could come out and hammer the Raiders too, but I think Logan View/Scribner-Snyder has a chance to give the Wolverines a tough game.
