Logan View/Scribner-Snyder Boys lose to BRLD; Girls fall to Wolverines, lose to West Point-Beemer in Sub-Districts
The Logan View/Scribner-Snyder Boys Basketball Team fell 51-42 at home to BRLD Friday night.
The Wolverines got out to a 14-5 lead on the Raiders at the end of one. Both teams scored 11 points in the 2nd quarter, and BRLD held a 25-16 lead at halftime.
The Wolverines won the 3rd quarter 15-12 to go up 40-28 at the end of three.
LVSS won the 4th quarter 14-11.
Connor Larson and Riley Hoetfelker each had 11 points while Garrett Kriete totaled 10.
Good effort from the Raiders, but they came up a little short.
Logan View/Scribner-Snyder (16-7) takes on Yutan (18-3) on the road Friday night to conclude the regular season.
The Chieftains beat Elm Creek 67-47 at the Heartland Hoops Classic in Grand Island on Saturday.
Yutan is probably the 2nd best team in all of C-2, behind BRLD.
So the Raiders are getting their dose of champions here at the end of the regular season.
The game with the Chieftains will be good preparation for what LVSS could see and face in the postseason.
The Raiders will likely have to get through Winnebago and Wayne to get to a Sub-State Final.
Not easy, but LVSS can definitely beat both as the Indians are below .500 and they beat the Blue Devils in the regular season.
The Raiders have to come out and play well and compete Friday night.
Logan View/Scribner-Snyder has to play well and keep things close like they did against the Wolverines.
I feel like the Raiders are the kind of team who's always right there, but just can't breakthrough and get over that hump.
Perhaps LVSS will find a way to get over the hump in big games before season's end and make state.
It could definitely happen too given the new Sub-State format and everything.
The Raiders have to step up and play their best basketball at this time of year.
Logan View/Scribner-Snyder has to put past losses behind them, and regroup and try and find a way to win Friday night.
Yutan is a great team, and beating them on their home floor is asking a lot.
But the Chieftains are the type of team the Raiders are going to face in the postseason if they get to Sub-State or State perhaps.
To be the best you have to beat the best, and that certainly holds true for Logan View/Scribner-Snyder in this instance.
The Logan View/Scribner-Snyder Girls lost 62-17 at home to BRLD in Friday night's regular season finale before falling 49-30 to West Point-Beemer in the C1-3 Sub-District Semifinals from Wisner-Pilger Tuesday night.
The Wolverines got out to a 20-2 lead at the end of one, and outscored the Raiders 17-9 in the 2nd quarter to take a 37-11 lead into the locker room.
BRLD outscored LVSS 13-3 in the 3rd quarter to go up 50-14 at the end of three.
The Wolverines quadrupled up the Raiders 12-3 in the 4th quarter.
The Cadets led the Raiders 14-9 after one, and outscored them 7-0 in the 2nd quarter to take a 21-9 lead into the locker room.
West Point-Beemer won the 3rd quarter 13-11 to extend their lead to 34-20 at the end of three.
The Cadets won the 4th quarter 15-10.
Valerie Uehling had 11 points while Josie Kahlandt totaled 7. Maelee Beacom added 9 rebounds.
I thought the Raiders did a nice job of competing against West Point-Beemer in their final game.
LVSS ends their year at 5-18.
I'm sure it wasn't the kind of year the Raiders were hoping for or envisioning, especially with the strong Volleyball season Logan View/Scribner-Snyder had.
LVSS says goodbye to Liz Polk, Reagan Klein, Abbey Hill, Adrian Kroeker, and Paige Kotik.
These five seniors certainly meant a lot to the team, and will be sorely missed.
The Raiders have to be excited for the future though given all who they return.
Logan View/Scribner-Snyder brings back Uehling, Beacom, Karlie Hansen, Grace Schlueter, Kahlandt, Cailey Stout, and others.
I feel the future is bright for LVSS.
I truly believe that the Raiders can become a winning program in the future.
It simply takes a lot of hard work in the offseason.
The returning players and newcomers have to attend as many weightlifting and conditioning sessions as possible, and must also take part in as many open gyms and summer leagues and camps and team camps as possible.
Logan View/Scribner-Snyder really has to dedicate themselves this summer, and work on the game of basketball.
The Raiders have to give 100% in everything they do this summer.
Everything has to be done with maximum effort and purpose.
LVSS has to come out with a new attitude starting next year.
The Raiders have to play with lots of emotion and passion over the offseason, and treat every day over the summer as an opportunity to be great and improve.
Logan View/Scribner-Snyder has to play hard and simply has to want it over the offseason too.
The Raiders have to work harder than any other team out there, and come back with a vengeance next season.
LVSS has to put the time and work in if they want to turn things around, and there's no doubt in my mind that they can and will do that.
