North Bend Central Boys win at Howells-Dodge; Girls defeat Jaguars, beat David City in Sub-Districts

The North Bend Central Boys Basketball Team won 81-69 at Howells-Dodge Thursday night in action aired on 107.9 the Bull.

The Tigers led the Jaguars 12-11 after one before outscoring them 31-16 in the 2nd quarter to take a 43-27 lead into the locker room.

Howells-Dodge won the 3rd quarter 25-24 to make it a 67-52 game at the end of three.

The Jaguars won the 4th quarter 17-14.

Jaxon Wietfeld had a game high 30 points, with Austin Endorf adding 23 and Cody Prohaska scoring 13.

Fantastic 2nd quarter for the Tigers. That was the difference in the game.

North Bend Central (21-1) plays host to Fort Calhoun (14-7) in the regular season finale Friday night.

The Pioneers won 67-33 at home over Raymond Central Friday night.

Fort Calhoun has won 5 in a row and is playing good basketball right now.

So the Pioneers have done some nice things, but have a few bad losses and haven't really beaten anyone that jumps out at you and makes you think they're a great team.

I fully expect the Tigers to step up and take care of business Friday night.

NBC needs a big performance heading into Sub-Districts next week.

The Tigers need kind of a Sub-District tone setter if you may.

I feel like North Bend Central will get just that too.

The Tigers will have an entire week off to prepare and get ready and should be ready to go come Friday night.

It has to be an exciting time at NBC with both basketball teams having amazing seasons.

The Tigers have to continue it and must keep it up.

North Bend Central has to enjoy the Girls Sub-District game against Wahoo on Thursday, but be ready to go on Friday against the Pioneers.

The Tigers have to come out and take the fight to Fort Calhoun for 4 quarters.

North Bend Central has to play tough, hard, and smart from the start come Friday night.

The Tigers need to turn in a complete game performance Friday night, and gear themselves up for another big postseason run.

So NBC not only has to win Friday night, but they need to win big.

The Tigers need kind of that regular season exclamation point type game that gets the team jacked and fired up for the postseason.

North Bend Central should get it too I would think.

It's simply a matter of coming out and getting after things and playing up to your full potential if you are the Tigers.

The North Bend Central Girls won 56-29 at Howells-Dodge in Thursday night's regular season finale before beating David City 51-20 in the C1-4 Sub-District Semifinals from David City Aquinas Tuesday night.

The Tigers got out to a 22-8 lead on the Jaguars after one, and won the 2nd quarter 12-11 to take a 34-19 lead into the locker room.

NBC outscored the Jaguars 12-2 in the 3rd quarter to extend their lead to 46-21 at the end of three.

The Tigers won the 4th quarter 10-8.

Cierra Kluthe and Sydney Emanuel each had 10 points.

NBC led the Scouts 15-6 after one. The Tigers won the 2nd quarter 9-5 to take a 24-11 lead into the locker room.

North Bend Central outscored David City 15-1 in the 3rd quarter to go up 39-12 at the end of three.

The Tigers won the 4th quarter 11-9.

NBC continues to play amazing basketball.

North Bend Central (22-2) takes on Wahoo (17-6) in Thursday's Sub-District Final.

The Warriors beat Arlington 48-44 in Tuesday's other semifinal.

This matchup is very interesting and intriguing from a couple of standpoints.

It's intriguing from the standpoint of Wahoo isn't having as dominant a year as they're used to, yet they're still Wahoo.

Then there's also the standpoint of these two teams could see each other once more after this.

So certainly the Tigers want to take care of business Thursday night, but this might not be the only time the two teams play in the postseason.

I could see a matchup at State perhaps should both teams make it.

I think North Bend Central has a great shot of winning Thursday night though.

The Tigers just have to go out there and execute and play the way they have all year.

North Bend Central has to finish around the tin and get to the free throw line and convert and make layups.

Nothing should come easy for the Warriors Thursday night.

The Tigers have to use their size and height to their advantage.

North Bend Central has to pound the ball inside to their bigs and keep feeding the post.

Players like Megan Ortmeier have to knock down jumpers as well when given the opportunity.

The biggest thing for the Tigers is to be loose and come out and play their game.

Sometimes I think things become mental for North Bend Central when they miss shots around the rim and stuff like that.

The Tigers just have to remain calm and not let the nerves get the best of them.

NBC has to be assertive and authoritative at the basket, and must come out fired up Thursday night.

Game time is set for 7:00 p.m.
